Anne Youngson worked for many years in senior management in the car industry before embarking on a creative career as a writer. She has supported many charities in governance roles, including Chair of the Writers in Prison Network, which provided residencies in prisons for writers. She lives in Oxfordshire and is married with two children and three grandchildren to date. Meet Me at the Museum is her debut novel, which is due to be published around the world.

I just finished reading THE NARROWBOAT SUMMER and enjoyed it every bit as much as I did your first novel. I like how you leave a lot to the reader's imagination as to how they both end. I would like to know if you have spent time on a canal boat like the ones described? It sounds like a charming way to live and I regret that I never took a vacation on one.

But my main source of inform…moreThank you for the question, Judy. I have spent several holidays on canal boats, just like the one I describe in the book. But my main source of information and inspiration was my sister, who set off to live on one for several years after she and her husband retired. They cruised round the whole canal network and only went back to living in a house when their health wasn't good enough to carry on. It was hard, some of the time, but on the whole a peaceful, gentle way to live. We could all do with some peace and gentleness in these difficult times.(less)
