New Cover and A Fabulous Review for Seduced by Blood
I've been working on a cover for "Devil in the Storm" for a while now. This is the first prototype. lol I'm teaching myself Adobe Photoshop, which isn't exactly the easiest thing in the world for a non-programmer/non-computer geek type like me. Hell, I wish I were!I'm also sharing a quick blurb. This is also a work in progress. :}
A sadistic killer kidnaps his victims from broad daylight during unprecedented dust storms in the Arizonan desert...storms of biblical proportions.
FBI Agent Dakota Reese is hell bent on catching this predator and recovering the bodies of his victims. He discovers a secret weapon in his friend and former lover, Homicide Detective Lily Sutherland, a cop with an earth shattering secret of her own, a secret she'll go to great lengths to leave unearthed.
In other good news, I stumbled upon the most fabulous review on Good Reads. I just had to share. :}

Okay, I have to admit, that I downloaded this book to my Kindle as a mistake, but I started reading and was drawn into the story. Nevada, by the way love that name, is on the LAPD and impedes Gunner, the hunky vampire, during a car-jacking. Nevada finds herself being the dinner and the object of seduction by Gunner. This book kept me pressing the arrow button on my Kindle way into the night! I was hooked! I just couldn't put it down and wow, was it ever erotic. This is not a book for the kiddies all rated R for racy! However, it had elements in it that surprized me also, especially closer to end I was saying... "Oh that's cool.." to myself. Now, granted I am a dyed in the wool vampire book fan, so this wasn't too off the track for me. This book might not be everyone's cuppa tea, but I thought it was saucy, fast-paced, erotic, romantic and a down-right page turner! If you like your books the way I described it, you won't be disappointed!
5 out ot 5 for Seduced by Blood! Great read!

"You plan on misbehavin' anytime soon?" he asked, sounding hopeful as hell. His sexy grin made her want to drag him into the nearest dark corner and rub up against him like a cat but she'd just caught Livy's confused what-the-hell-does-he-see-in-your-big-butt glare.
For someone as astute as the beautiful marketing executive usually was about business, she didn't have a clue about personal relationships. Livy, with her lithe little cheerleader body and her surgically perfect profile, was a trophy hunter and she couldn't seem to wrap her mind around the fact that Tall didn't have any interest in being part of her collection.
Bless her heart.
Kitty had had about all this party she could politely stand and she could tell Tall was getting itchy when he reached into his pants pocket.
"I think it's time for our annual coin toss," he suggested, pulling out what she knew to be the same quarter he'd used the first time they'd cut and run from Marcy's annual to-do.
She knew because he kept it on the dresser in his bedroom. "Toss away, cowboy. I call heads," she said sweetly and watched him flip the coin into the air, catch it and slap it down on the back of his hand.
His lips twitched after he lifted his palm and she knew she'd won again. "You are the luckiest woman alive."
"Don't I know it," she bragged and couldn't resist winking at him.
She'd been flirting with the idea of how this night was going to end since last summer's Fourth of July impromptu photo shoot when she'd posed him naked except for his chaps and boots. And that raggedy-ass cowboy hat that was almost as battered as he was after surviving riding bulls and anything else he could get his hands on during his ten-year stint on the rodeo circuit.
She smiled and he looked wary, but as usual, very eager.
"Are you going to tell me what I'm in for or are you just going to smile all night and make me guess?"
She leaned in close and breathed in the sharp tang of his cologne that reminded her of crisp, dry leaves, earthy moss and sun-warmed leather. "I want to take you to bed and not let you out for days. I want to tie you up and watch your face while I take you every way you can imagine and some I hope you haven't even thought about yet. And I want to strap on the prettiest pink cock you ever saw and fuck your ass until you beg for mercy."
She watched him swallow hard and try to get his breathing under control while her heart was doing flip-flops. She was so wet she'd almost made herself come just from describing what she wanted to do to him.
He wrapped his arms around her waist and she went into his embrace, enjoying the feel of his just-bordering-on-impolite grasp, and parted her lips for his kiss. His tongue swept inside like a conquering hero while his big hands cupped her ass so hard she knew they'd leave marks. So much for behaving in public.
His mouth telegraphed a desperate need that she tried to match but she'd wanted him under her for so long that she started to shake and finally stopped wondering how his mouth could be so hard and sweet at the same time.
"Always said I wanted a woman who could give as good as she gets," he whispered after he finally broke the kiss. She almost creamed her panties when she felt the full-body shudder that racked him.
"So you're up for it?"
"Yeah baby," he whispered and placed her hand over the erection tenting his pants. He licked his lips and his gaze locked on to hers. "I'm up for it." <><> </><><></>Buy Now

I was sleeping and then I wasn't. I woke up and couldn't shake the feeling that you were scared. Did you have another nightmare? Is that why you turned on all the lights?" "Yes." "Want to talk about it?" She shivered. "You don't have to, Tori. I'm sorry. I don't want to upset you." "What?" "You started trembling when I asked if you wanted to talk about it." "Oh." Tori blushed and fought the urge to hide her face in his shoulder. "It's not that. I'm just a little cold. Or the part of me that's not against you is. The rest is nice and warm." Guy hid a grin. "Yeah, now that you said that it does feel chilly in here. Maybe I should check your furnace." "No. I turn the heat down when I go to bed because I like lots of covers. You called before I turned it up and then I got sidetracked." Guy was rubbing his hands over her exposed skin. "And your nightwear isn't designed for warmth although I must say how much I like it." Tori glanced down at her shorts and tank top and realized how well-defined her stiffened nipples were in the flimsy cotton of the tight pink shirt. "Oh God," she groaned. "Christ, could I have said anything more inappropriate? Hey, at least I haven't lost my mind entirely or I'd be touching them instead of just wishing I were." At his declaration, Tori felt the peaks tighten even more. She watched his glance drop and knew he'd seen the change. When his gaze returned to hers, she saw that his eyes had darkened. Wordlessly, she caught one of his hands and drew it to her breast, pressing herself against his palm. For a long moment, he cupped her. "Guy." Tori made his name sound like a plea. With a sigh, Guy slid his hand to her shoulder and rested his forehead against hers. "You could tempt a dead man." "But not you, huh?" "Oh, I'm plenty tempted. If you don't believe me, shift your hip and you'll be able to feel just how tempted I am. As much as I hate to do it, I'm going to beg you to go put on a robe or some sweats or anything less revealing, not that it'll do much good now that I've seen you like this." "But—" "No, Tori, don't. I know it would be pure heaven, spending the next month exploring your body, after which we'd spend the following year making love in every way imaginable but that's not something we can start tonight." "Not even if I tell you I want you more than I've ever wanted anyone?" "Oh Christ." Guy ran his thumb along her collarbone. "Don't do this, Tori, please. I'm trying to be decent and not take advantage of the situation. You say you want me now but what about tomorrow? You're the one who questioned my attraction to you, remember? I won't do something that you may regret later. You're too important for me to chance that." Tori studied his eyes and saw more emotions than she expected. "All right, Guy. You wouldn't be taking advantage but okay. I won't beg you to show me if those big strong hands of yours feel as good as I think they will." "Tori." "Just trying to make you feel better by not being the only one who says inappropriate things." "Thanks, I think." Guy stood her on her feet. "Go put on more clothes and stop looking so damn desirable." "You'll be here?" "Until you tell me to leave."

Happy Ever After or Not?

Okay, this is the same thing I've said before, but I'm feeling the need torephrase, reiterate, re-emphasize. Yeah, to basically vent after seeing themovie the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
I finally got around to watching it. Yeah, I'm a little slow on that since I live in a town without a giant, multiplex movie theatre. Okay, we have a tinylittle antique theatre, but it's pretty sad. I'd rather wait to seethe movie at home, with my own popcorn. lol
I knew better than to watch this movie with my nephew anywhere in thevicinity, so I waited until he was in school last week and my mom and I grabbedsome popcorn and sat down to watch it one afternoon.
It was grim, violent, and stark.
I actually liked it, but I had to watch the entire movie in two portions, due to time constraints. After watching the first half I couldn't wait to getback to it so I could figure out the whodunit mystery of the movie.
A 40 year-old suspected murder that turns in to the chase for a serialkiller.
After watching the ending, though it was satisfying in the dramadepartment, I was frankly pissed that our girl didn't walk away with the guy.
One of the main characters is Lizbeth, played by actress Rooney Mara, whoportrays her in such a way that she ends up absolutely owning the character. Ihaven't read the books, but I can't imagine Lizbeth being anyone else.
Rooney nailed it.
Lizbeth suffers horribly during the movie, she is alone and a victim of thecruel world, being brutally raped by someone in a position of trust. Though, she is really no one's victim, which especially drew me to the character. Shegets hers and then some.
The ending left me feeling empty and sorry for both characters, however, reaffirming in my mind that this is why I enjoy writing in the romance genre.
I mean, life sucks. It's painful, it hurts—there are no two ways about it.Who hasn't had a broken heart, lost a job, a family member or a lover? Reallife is all about heartbreak. But what about the redemption? What about the HEA(Happy Ever After)?
We don't always get it in the real world, but most of us want it in ourromance.
The movie Drive left me with the same issue. Don't worry, I won't give away anyspoilers just in case you haven't seen it, but movies like these two, though filled with intense drama, violenceand suspense, have left me wanting more.
It's a deep reminder that this is why I have such an incredible love for theromance genre.
Pick-up a romance and the reader experiences the ups and downs of the character's lives as well as their heartwrenching moments, but in the end, after suffering with them every inch of the way, the reader is rewarded with the HEA, usually the couple working on their future, together.
It's uplifting, it's romantic and it leaves me with a smile on my face, usually sighing out loud and going out to find the entire body of work written bywhomever I'd just read and thoroughly enjoyed.
These movies have left me quite inspired to write an HEA, despite the fact that I've had abit of writer's block lately...though I hesitate to call it that. That's thecurse of death. lol Nope, life has just interceded, as it often does.
Writers write, every day. It's something I've heard many times and I'verealized is incredibly true. Missing a day, leads to another day and another.Kind of like working out, which I also suck at.
So, today, I'm going to try to get some writing done. Not editing, notplaying with a new cover, but actual writing. It's worked before, and I'm goingfor it again.
Who doesn't need a happy ending, you know. One way or another, I'm going tohave one, even if I have to write it myself! lol
What inspires you? Will you watch movies that don't end with a HEA or areyou holding out for a hero who'll solve the mystery, survive the suspense andsweep our girl off her feet?
Thanks for stopping by,
Taylor

Darkness
I took this photograph yesterday morning. I awoke to low-hanging fog and grabbed my camera, sliding into a pair of old green rubber boots and a jacket, my camera case hanging around my neck. I ended up walking around the perimeter of our property, as if drawn, seeing the world through the lens of my camera.Going through the pictures this morning triggered a tiny little jump start of writing. Not even an idea really, more like a scene to match the photograph.Ah, inspiration. Hasn't happened to me for quite a while! lol So, I just had to share.
Taylor
Shh.It's in there.I can hear it moving around. Its long, curved claws scraping against the trunks of the low hanging pine. Clack. Clack. Clack. It dodges left and right, staying just outside the reach of my camera's flash. It moves swiftly and I wait, my heart racing, my brain cataloging the distinct noise and trying to identify it, to compartmentalize, to pretend it's somehow remotely familiar. Its warning cry is low and long, grating my ears, scraping up my spine like bone clacking bone.Heart racing, I want to run--but I dare not moveIt'll sense my fear.I can hear it breathing, inhaling low and long, scenting the fresh soap on my skin and the floral aroma of the shampoo I'd used to wash my hair only a half hour before.I step between the tree's, my body trembling, curiosity getting the better of me, making me move into the wide swath of downed grass, into the belly of it's lair.I can hear it inhale my scent, a whistling rush of air blowing past its carnivorous fangs. It releases a sloppy breath, wet lips gurgling, blowing saliva into the air. With a shaking hand I chose my weapon--the camera hanging around my neck instead of the knife on the sheath of my belt or the gun at my hip, still securely holstered.A slow breeze washes over me and I gag, inhaling it's ancient, putrid odor. The rotting smell of meat, of blood, of death.I stop at the edge of the furthest reaching light, the tips of my hiking boots absorbed by the black shadow beyond. Dawn has yet to ascend behind me, and this is my one fault, the darkness I fear.

"Hold on, sweetheart," Tadd warned as he navigated what hesuspected wasn't going to be their only three-sixty spin. There was no hope togain traction under these conditions. His only option was to maintain as muchof a controlled slide as possible. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw herbrace her hands on the dashboard, but she didn't cry out or visibly panic.Carefullyadjusting the steering wheel to stay with the spin and allowing the antilockbrakes to do their job, Tadd finally brought the SUV to a stop about ten feetoff the edge of the road.
