Dear David – Paranormal Advice from Vampire David Hilliard
I make no claim to psychological gifts. Susan tells me that reading human minds, don't count. However, I would love to help you with any paranormal problem you may have. Here goes with the first letter.
Dear David,
I've been out shopping the Black Friday specials since 4 am. I am exhausted. I figure being that vampires are so much faster, they would make great personal shoppers. Do you know any vampire personal shoppers I could hire?
Also, David, have you been shopping Black Friday?
Your ardent fan,
Delores
Dear Delores,
Even though I don't know of any vampire personal shoppers, I will definitely bring it up at the Arnhem Society. It sounds like a fun job. Be aware that we can only use our powers at night or when there is an overcast sky. On a bright sunny day under cover of heavy coats and hoods, we would not be any faster than you. But starting at 4 am, we could probably get more done.
Thanks for asking, but I avoid the crunch of humanity in a shopping frenzy on Black Friday like the plague. LOL My lifemate Laura went and still isn't home. There goes my credit card. She thinks I look good in red.
David
Dear David,
Appliances keep breaking in my house. A friend who is psychic came over and said that my house is infested with gremlins. What should I do? I can't afford to buy all new appliances. Help.
Helpless
Dear Helpless,
I checked with my auto mechanic, who is a werewolf and knows a great deal about gremlins. He says that the key is to make friends with the gremlins. Gremlins go after machines when they are bored. First, he recommends leaving out cookies and milk at night for them. Then leave out board games and puzzles. They especially love Scrabble. You won't get rid of your gremlins, but they will be on your side and not harm your appliances. And when you think about it, isn't it really harmony that we're all looking for.
Let me know how this works out for you.

It's Turkey Time
Hmmm, can you smell it? Mashed potatoes, turkey, gravy, green beans, cranberries, pumpkin pie and I could probably continue writing all night and making myself very hungry. If you can't tell, I'm super excited by Thanksgiving. I think about how it has evolved over the years and the fact that I now get to participate in the making of the food. It's funny as we grow older just how much we understand the significance of this holiday. Not just in its beginnings but in the realization that there is much to give thanks for—at least I feel that way even if I do give off the occasional grumble about life.
I can recall going over to my parent's friend's house year after year. The same families, the same friends, all coming together to give thanks. You really get a concept of time when those sitting at the "kid's" table are now in their thirties and we've now built in another smaller table for the "little kids".
Like little eager beavers we still happily march to the serving line, pile our plates high and gorge ourselves into sleepiness. Then we roll ourselves over to the living room to watch the yearly broadcast of Home Alone. Sounds sloth-like but I love every minute of it.
Thanksgiving is like the starting bell to the season of giving and stepping up to lend a helping hand to others. It reminds us of what we do have and unites us with friends and family. So as you hunker down to cook those yummy meal, remember to enjoy your turkey day and its traditions, I will certainly being doing the same. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Lindsay-Nov 23, 2010
The driver depressed the power window button. Silence filled the air as the portal descended. A muted cursed escaped his lips, the only sound. He lifted his hand, looked at the finger and drop of blood spotted at the hang nail. He knew the manicurist would have to be punished, most severely, on his return. Better be worth the thrill, he mumbled as he cast his gaze to the individual highlighted in the spot of light on the beach.
He slipped into a pair of old ratty looking jeans, a Washington Redskin sweatshirt. An old ball cap completed his outfit. Cautiously, he closed the door, not wanting to risk alarming his next victim.
The man adjusted his approach of the person so he came in downwind. Thus any sound inadvertently made wouldn't alert the person.
His bare feet created a barely audible scrunch on the sandy beach. With each step he gave his feet a twist to disguise his prints. Waves crashed against the shore helped aid in the stealthiness of his advance. A weak, half moon dodged in and out from behind high, dark cumulous clouds helped add an unexpected eeriness to the night. A few stars twinkled. One, brighter than the rest, he knew to be the ISS.
Until now, he knew the person was only good for one, and only one thing, his next release.
The man was within ten feet of the person when a sea tinted breeze fluttered the person hair. Long. Black. A woman with the same hair color as that bitch. Perfect. Even with the intermittent moonlight he could see she had on a very skimpy bikini. A desperate need grew grow within and not only in his crotch. The sexual lust wasn't diminished even as she wrapped a large towel around her.
Perfect. A clean body for a change. He'd earlier said a silent prayer for just that.
He smiled.
He stopped several yards from her. He coughed.
He hid, in the open, swallowed in the shadows of darkness as the moon ducked behind a cloud. "Mind if I share your fire," his voice husky, gravelly. The sound gave the unsuspected listener the impression he'd been karate chopped in the throat one too many times.
The woman half turned toward the voice. A pleasing, self-assured smile highlighted her eyes. With a nod she waved him to a spot beside her.
"What's your name Miss," the man's voice cold, calculating asked.
"Michelle. Why?" A chill of impending doom shot down her spine. She wrapped the towel tighter, hoping to drive the chill from her body.
In several hours the sun would rise. Warm and greet Alison to a new day.
All the sun would or could do for Michelle, warm her ice cold body, so scavengers would have an easier time finding her.

Words of Love
When inspiration fails, it's often useful to go back through the great words that have inspired so many sighing hearts and longing minds over the centuries. So many immortal lines never lose their allure and fill the thoughts of lovers long after their authors are dead. We should all delight to share such joys. That's always the hope, right? That your stories will inspire romance and hope and new love — or perhaps desire, passion and wild emotion. Something to chase away the doubts at the very least:
From John Donne's A Valediction: Forbidding Mourning
Our two soules therefore, which are one,
Though I must goe, endure not
A breach, but an expansion,
Like gold to ayery thinnesse beate.
If they be two, they are two so
As stiffe twin compasses are two,
Thy soule the fixt foot, makes no show
To move, but doth, if the'other doe…
From Christopher Marlowe's Passionate Shepherd to his Love
Come live with me and be my Love,
And we will all the pleasures prove
That hills and valleys, dale and field,
And all the craggy mountains yield.
There will we sit upon the rocks
And see the shepherds feed their flocks,
By shallow rivers, to whose falls
Melodious birds sing madrigals.
There will I make thee beds of roses
And a thousand fragrant posies,
A cap of flowers, and a kirtle
Embroider'd all with leaves of myrtle…
Elizabeth Barrett's Sonnets from the Portuguese, no. XLIII
How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.
I love thee to the level of everyday's
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;
I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.
I love thee with a passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints, — I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life! — and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.
William Shakespeare, Sonnet XXIX
When, in disgrace with fortune and men's eyes,
I all alone beweep my outcast state
And trouble deaf heaven with my bootless cries
And look upon myself and curse my fate,
Wishing me like to one more rich in hope,
Featured like him, like him with friends possess'd,
Desiring this man's art and that man's scope,
With what I most enjoy contented least;
Yet in these thoughts myself almost despising,
Haply I think on thee, and then my state,
Like to the lark at break of day arising
From sullen earth, sings hymns at heaven's gate;
For thy sweet love remember'd such wealth brings
That then I scorn to change my state with kings.
What are your favourite words of love?

Dear David – Paranormal Advice from Vampire David Hilliard
Welcome and keep those letters coming. If you have a paranormal problem, I'd love to help. Let's see who we have today.
Dear David,
I'm having this issue with a totally hot but infuriating vampire that jets around. You see he has this thing for nibbling on me but somehow this women has shown up. A total hussy if I might add. He thinks she's his dead wife from back in the day. I can't stake her because she isn't a vampire.
Meanwhile the vamp who shall remain nameless is still hocking up with me.
What should I do?
–Totally Confused
Dear Totally Confused,
Wow. I'm sorry. Being human is hard enough without being tied up with a vampire. Actually being tied up to a vampire preferably with silk scarves is quite fun, but I digress.
You're right, of course, you can't stake her. That won't solve anything. Though it's unlikely you're stand trial for murder, because if he is that emotionally attached to her, he'll just make her a vampire. Then you will never have a chance with him.
I will tell you one thing. Vampires are very jealous creatures. You could take up with another hot vampire. Either he will be so jealous, he'll ignore his returned wife and come back to you or he won't. But on the bright side, this new vampire might be hotter and more fun. If you decide to take this route, let me know and I'll hook you up.
Don't be totally confused any longer. Be open to new possibilities.
–David
If anyone has a problem with the paranormal they'd like advice on, email me at NightsofPassionBlog@gmail.com with Dear David in the subject line.
I don't claim any psychological expertise and the opinions expressed are solely mine and not necessarily the views of Nights of Passion. This column is for entertainment and not meant to replace psychological guidance. If you would like to add on our letter today, I welcome your comments.
