On Translation: Sharing a New View
Le French Book is happy to welcome Jeffrey Zuckerman on board. He’ll be translating the third book in the Paris Homicide series. Yes, we are busy at work translating new stories about Chief of Police Nico Sirsky and his team of elite crime fighters keeping the streets of Paris safe. Snapshot of the 2014 Winter French Publishing Season
The French have two main publishing seasons, or rentrées littéraires, one in fall and one in winter.With the winter 2014 French publishing season nearing, here’s a quick snapshot of what’s coming out in France, according to trade magazineLivres Hebdo.
French publishers are publishing 4% more books than last year.
547 new books will be published in France in January and February.
There will be 3% fewer translations in this batch.
The number of French novels in the batch increased by 8%.

French Mystery and Thriller Book Fairs
Here is a list of upcoming book fairs for anyone who wants to add another kind of experience to their time in France. The focus here, of course, is mysteries and thrillers.
December 7-8: Salon du livre du Perche in Soligny-La-Trappe, in the northwest. There will be 50 French writers of all kinds at this book fair.
December 7-8: Boulogne-Billancourt Book Fair. This town is right near Paris and you can get there on the metro. Pierre LeMaître is signing on Saturday.
