Shortlistings ahoy!

I’m delighted to say that the shortlists for the Aurealis Awards were announced today and as well as seeing a lot of excellent friends on the list I also found that All the Murmuring Bones is a finalist for Best Fantasy Novel, and The Tallow-Wife and Other Tales for Best Collection.

And The Tallow-Wife is also a finalist for the Australian Shadows Awards in the Best Collected Work category.

New Novels!

I’m absolutely delighted to announce that I’ve signed a two-book deal with Titan for new novels set in the Sourdough world. I’m so happy to be working with Cath Trechman and the Titan team again.

The Briar Book of the Dead will be out in 2023, and The Crimson Road in 2024. Briar Book will explore the lives of the Briar Witches – descendants of Gilly from the novella Of Sorrow and Such – and Crimson Road will delve into the early history of Fidelma and Orla who ran St Dymphna’s School for Poison Girls in The Bitterwood Bible and Other Recountings.

Interview – Narrative Species

Over at Narrative Species I had a chat with the delightful Rick Kleffel about the Sourdough world and my stories set there … You can listen here if you’re so inclined.

The Tallow-Wife and Other Tales – paperback

Happy to advise that The Tallow-Wife and Other Tales is now available as a paperback.

The limited edition hardcover version has sold out – but can be found with a few sellers if you seek it out.

The paperback still has Kathleen Jennings’s gorgeous artwork!

What To Do When You Don’t Have A Book Coming Out …

& Even More Sage Advice!

Yes, my second Writer Chap is out from Brain Jar Press. A companion volume for Your Are Not Your Writing & Other Sage Advice.

Filled with unsolicited (but generally useful) advice, anecdotes, occasional subtweets, comments about writers drinking – but mostly words.

You can order it here.

The Bone Lantern

And here’s something glorious and new from the amazing Daniele Serra. The cover art for my novella The Bone Lantern, which is out this year from the Absinthe imprint of PS Publishing. Thanks to editor Marie O’Regan for making this novella happen.

Flight!

And so, Flight will be a real thing at last! All of the thank yous to PS Publishing for making this possible. My words and the arting of the inimitable Kathleen Jennings.

You can pre-order here – either the limited edition signed and numbered version (200 copies only) or the “ordinary” jacketed hardcover (a bit cheaper, but still pretty damned glorious tbh).

Limited Edition of All the Murmuring Bones

The lovely limited edition of All the Murmuring Bones is now available from the wonderful Tartarus Press. There are only 300 copies of these, so when this edition’s gone, it’s gone. (There are, of course, the gorgeous paperbacks from Titan Books!)

You can order from your local bookshop or directly from Tartarus Press. They will ship anywhere in the world.

The cover art is, of course, by the inimitable Kathleen Jennings.
