CALLS FOR SUBMISSION by Selena Chambers
Next month marks the release of Calls for Submission, the latest weird fiction collection by the incredibly talented Selena Chambers.Selena was kind enough to allow me to read this book in galley form. Here are my thoughts on it:
"Selena Chambers is a rare visionary who is able to illuminate the poetry that lurks at the heart of the macabre. Her sumptuous prose and boundless imagination conjure a blazing pyre of souls, eras, worlds. I am in awe of her talent."
To pre-order a copy of Calls for Submission (which I strongly encourage you to do), click here. I wish Selena many great things with this book. She deserves them.

An Appreciation of my work at Temple of Lilith

The Primordial Image
I was pleased to see a recent resurgence of interest in my 2014 essay "Through the Gate of Horn: Occult Fiction and the Primordial Image" on social media. For those interested, the essay entire was published in Volume 3 of Clavis: Journal of Occult Arts, Letters and Experience. Copies of this beautiful publication can be obtained here.
Also, there was an excerpted version of this essay, re-titled "Realizing the Primordial Image", posted to the blog section of the Clavis website. That essay may be read here.

"Banishments" in LOOMING LOW
Sam Cowan, proprietor of the press Dim Shores, along with Justin Steele of the Arkham Digest, have collaborated to co-edit an outstanding anthology of supernatural fiction entitled Looming Low. I'm pleased to announce that my story "Banishments" will be included in this anthology, which will be released this summer via Dim Shores.
As can be seen by the above photo, the roster for Looming Low is truly stellar and I'm proud to be a part of it.

THE BENIGHTED PATH reviewed
The Benighted Path
was the subject of a nice write up over at The Skeptical Occultist:
"The power of the Benighted Path, and where its true knowledge lies, is in its ability to not just address but to delve into the importance of fear, terror and awe as they relate to the practice of the Dark Way."
The entire review may be viewed here.

BOOKLORE
Having received my contributor's copies of
Booklore
from its Dusseldorf-based publisher Zagava, I decided to write a new post encouraging folks to obtain a copy of this fascinating and beautifully produced volume.
Consisting of essays about the manic passion for books , Booklore 's contributors include Damian Murphy, Reggie Oliver, Daniel Mills, Ron Weighell, and other fine scribes. My own contribution explores my adolescent obsession with J.R. Hanslet's book All of them Witches .
Copies of Booklore can be obtained here.

Bram Stoker Awards - Preliminary Ballot
The Horror Writers Association has announced the preliminary ballot for the 2016 Bram Stoker Awards. I was delighted to learn that Sylvan Dread: Tales of Pastoral Darkness has been selected for the Superior Achievement in a Fiction Collection category.
The final ballot will be announced later this year and the awards themselves will be given out at StokerCon 2017 in Long Beach, CA. I want to express my appreciation to the HWA for this recognition and also extend my congratulations to the many fine talents with whom I share this ballot.

THE BENIGHTED PATH
Happy New Year.
As we approach the one-year anniversary of the release of The Benighted Path: Primeval Gnosis and the Monstrous Soul I confess to still being incredibly proud of this book. It seems to serve as both a summation of esoteric insights I gleaned throughout my life and also a portent of writings and endeavours yet to come. The Benighted Path has been very well received and I hope that future readers will encounter it as their fate wills.
Copes of the book are still available from Theion Publishing, JD Holmes, Watkins Books, and elsewhere.
"Life experienced with dayside consciousness is a detached, anemic process of feeling-less observation. Night is when the forms reveal their inner meaning."
