Book + Mixtape deal

I always like to do this when I release a new mixtape. I consider myself a hybrid artist; music and words are different ways of doing the same thing for me, and if you're down with one, you're down with the other. So the deal I got goin' now is a copy of my new mixtape, Soundtrack to an Unnamed Book, with a copy of either one of my books for $10. No shipping. Asphalt Flowerhead (my novel) or Avant-Garde for the New Millennium, an anthology featuring something like 25 different writers, dudes ...

do you enjoy laughter? no? that's… different.

For everybody else, here's something you'll enjoy. My buddy Kevin Shamel hears about this place that'll do free printing, but it turns out that they only do it on their template backgrounds. Which turns out to be a blessing in disguise. Because he just made up a series of advertisements playing off of them for his book, Rotten Little Animals, that're great (almost as funny as the book they're promoting. Read it).

Mixtape out now!

Here it is folks… Soundtrack to an Unnamed Book is out now. Twenty tracks, riddled with blends and interludes. Available both in physical, signed copies and a downloadable version that's free. And each CD has different art printed on it… some graffiti, some trip stuff, some bullshit… if you got anything specific in mind, lemme know when you purchase.

Lesson One: Rubber Cement Sucks

Just finished printing up all the Gas Monk mixtapes… as soon as I wake up tomorrow it'll all be online! Then Satyricon tomorrow night for the release. Fun day. Making the mixtapes today was great because I got to do everything I did two days ago all over again, detail for detail. What happened the first time is that Rubber cement is a very powerful chemical, which will eat through all of your art. CDs, plastic, paper, you name it.

Every CD has different art printed on it (though the covers...

The Magazine of Bizarro Fiction #3 is out now!

This shit's always fun. I'm especially happy about this one because I got to write a feature about Jase Daniels for it, & ask him a lot of questions about The Grubby End and Vomitus Skink and everything else. And so much great text and image in this one. Jeff Burk as editor brings together Cody Goodfellow, Bruce Taylor, Andrew Goldfarb, Richard Tingley, poetry by Kevin Donihe (which is always insane), illustrations by Angie Molinar, and more. Oh, and writes a spotlight on Carlton Mellick...

Coming Next Friday

At the March 12th Satyricon show I'll be releasing my new mixtape, Soundtrack to an Unnamed Book. It's official. Twenty tracks, and nobody's ever heard most of 'em. So I'm really excited to put these out. Without a doubt the mixtape is Gas Monk music at its finest. And I just got the cover art from the great Jase Daniels, and it absolutely blew my mind. Check it out:

If you're in Portland, grab tickets and come meet me at the Satyricon for the release. If you're elsewhere in the world, come...

Rabbits Rabbits Rabbits

On the first day of every month, make sure you say this. I'd say it brings you good luck but I think it's really just bad luck if you don't; it neutralizes luck. Since I started smoking cigarettes I've always flipped one cigarette upside-down in the pack and called it my "lucky," you're supposed to smoke it last. But it's not lucky, only unlucky if smoked out of order. Sometimes I'll bum someone my lucky and I don't know what to feel about that.

Is the absence of bad luck transferable?

Maybe...
