Goodfellow attacks

Swallowdown Press (aka the crew I'm from) is now in "Cody Goodfellow Month" mode. A lot of you have probably already heard of Cody – his novels Radiant Dawn and Ravenous Dusk seem to be universally-approved by horror & poetic junkies alike. But when Cody got down to write some stuff for Swallowdown, he knew he had to take it as far as he gets. This stuff registers high on the trip-meter, and the language makes me jealous.

Right now Swallowdown is doing a special offer to help you get...

Soundtrack to What?

Remember that  mixtape I put out a few weeks ago, Soundtrack to an Unnamed Book? Well, that "unnamed book" finally has a name. In a month or two, THE DEADHEART SHELTERS will be running rampant through your cities, homes, and minds. Keep guarded!

Mixtape Art

Just wanted to share the beautiful art Jase Daniels did for my upcoming mixtape, When You Can't Afford Weed, Smoke This. The mixtape comes in two forms; this one is a blend of some of my beats and some other folks' beats, kind of like a Gas Monk turntable set (minus turntables). Made most of it in Denmark. The other version is the "legal" version, the one you can buy as a CD, which is the original beats extracted from the mix, some of my poetry, and remixes from Vomitus Skink (aka Jase...

Coitus Sonitus

Jase Daniels aka Vomitus Skink is at it again with another album, Coitus Sonitus. This is noise music at its finest… the level of melody, clarity, and meditativeness surpasses its genre and belongs in a category by itself, something that feels a lot like Jase Daniels images look. I think this album might be better than his first, in mude, for the "SEX" sequence alone… five tracks of Skink going places it's never gone before. For fans of the weird, the gritty, and the other-worldly, this is a ...

On the House

One of the best things about being in Portland was getting to know and work with Mike Daily, the local poet and novelist. After snagging a copy of his Alarm and listening to the accompanying music he made for it, I dropped him a line to ask him if he'd want a Gas Monk remix of one the tracks. At first it was just supposed to be that, a one track deal just to have some fun and make something new… but the first night he took me into the studio, not only did we have a blast making it, but we...

RIP Guru

Man, this is sadder than usual. A lot of us knew Guru had gone  into a coma, but nobody knew much about what kind of condition he was in… well yesterday, the legendary MC died of cardiac arrest.

He's gotta be the best rapper ever to come out of Boston – born in 1966 in the neighborhood of Roxbury. He made my city very proud. Nobody shot as straight as Guru, that's something I think any hip hop head can agree with… nobody reinforced the neccesity of just being yourself harder than he did. The f...

Monkey Suite

This Madvillain gem makes an appearance on my upcoming mixtape… of course I had to throw some Doom Madlib love on there.

New Gas Monk: "She Must Always Feel Like This"

I've been having so much fun making this new mixtape I had to share some of it early. Here's a song called "She Must Always Feel Like This." I wrote it about someone I could never tell them I wrote it about. Haha yeah, wonder if it's you!

& also listen to the song here. Can't wait to share the rest of this mixtape, seriously.
