Harry Potter World, Hot as Hell, but Definitely Heaven for Fans

Entrance into park

Sorry it's taken me a while to post this. I was in Orlando two weeks ago and hit Harry Potter World at Universal on Tuesday. The day the temperature broke all sorts of records at 111 degrees.

So, my take on Harry Potter World.

I'm very glad I didn't bring my family. But I absolutely LOVED it.

How does one reconcile these two sentences? Simple. No one in my family is a diehard Harry Potter fan but me. I've read every book; when the last one came out, we were just getting home...

Our Great Adventure Out West – Part III

And now on to the Grand Tetons and the return trip.

Grand Tetons

Loved this sign. And it proved to be true a little later.

Here's a mama moose and her baby in the field behind her.

6 teenage boy bison. Somehow, we just didn't expect this to end well. Luckily, a park ranger showed up and made all the morons who'd gotten out of their cars get back in their cars and drive on.

the scenery was just breathtaking.

more awe-inspiring shots

somewhere in Wyoming. Check out the double-fronted car. Wonder how...

Our Big Adventure Out West – Part II

Now on to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons and the return trip. For those of you who might not know, I made a very similar trip with my parents/siblings 31 years ago. I said this trip for me was more about watching my husband and kids enjoy the sights.

Yellowstone landscape

Dragon's mouth/breath/cave. Something like that. Our first steam vent.

thermal vents. Some really interesting colors

Bison sighting

rainbow on the upper falls

Grand Canyon of Yellowstone

Our Big Adventure Out West – Part I

So I went to RomCon in Denver and then the family and I rented a van and drove.

And drove and drove and drove.

We figured we did 2500 miles +/-. Besides Denver and its environs, we hit Mt. Crazy Horse, Mt. Rushmore, Devil's Tower, Yellowstone, the Grand Tetons, and all parts in between. Here are some of the highlights:

Casa Bonita - You can't miss this cheesy must-see. The food wasn't as bad as has been described online, and the sopapillas are to DIE for!!

Inside the restaurant (Denver, CO)

Mt...

FIRST OFFICIAL: Look at Genie Knows Best

Now that Genie Knows Best is with the beta readers and most of the copy edits have been finished on I Dream of Genies, and the house has been SCRUBBED from top to bottom, eleventy-million loads of laundry done, too much food has been bought, and all the bills have been paid, I figured it was time to post the amazingly gorgeous cover for Genie Knows Best. Thanks, again, to Anne Cain, artiste extraordinaire. She captures my world so beautifully!

For now, the blurb is:

Kal, ...

BEA 2010

I was signing at the RWA booth yesterday and took these photos beforehand. Special shout-out to the Sourcebooks crew for a gorgeous booth. Those folks were working it! There was always someone having a meeting with someone.

A huge thank you to RWA for the time to sign, to Sourcebooks (and Danielle Jackson) for the books and to the ladies from: www.findthetimetoread.net and bookalicio.us for "petting" my book! :)

RT 2010- aka Kate Douglas Likes My Ass

Gotcha, huh? We'll get to the Kate Douglas part in a bit, but I wanted to give a recap of my RT adventure.

I had been planning to blog while I was at RT, as i have for the past 3 years but I honestly didn't have time (nor internet–why do the hotels have to charge us $10/day for internet? I know, because they can, but ever since I got my baby Jennifer, I can check my email without paying that).

So here are the pictures. And I'll apologize in advance for the lack of them. It really was a...

And the winners are…

No, sadly, I don't have a crystal ball. Well, wait a minute. Actually, I DO have one. But, sadly, it doesn't tell me the future, so I don't know who will win the Rita and Golden Heart awards.

No, the winners I'm talking about are the two commenters on the Rita/Golden Heart 2010 "Squee" Party blog who won signed copies of my Mer trilogy. They were picked by Random.org's true random number generator. And the winners are:

Sally G (commented at 1:09 pm)

and

Laurie Green (commented at 9:52 am)

Please...
