Tales to Terrify podcasts "The Goosle"

I neglected to blog about this when it happened back in July, but you can click over to Tales to Terrify and hear Ritchie Smith narrating my horrid Hansel and Gretel makeover "The Goosle". Mark Morris's "What Nature Abhors" is on the same podcast.

"The Goosle" itself starts at around 7:45.

Warning: explicit sex, general nastiness—just ask Dave how nasty. Or this listener: "Margo wins my award

Brides makes the PW Best Books list

The Brides of Rollrock Island has made the children's section of the Publishers Weekly Best Books of 2012 list. This is a wonderful antidote to the first rumblings of pre-book-tour stage fright. Seattle, are you ready for me?

West Coast Tour, November

I know, I haven't blogged much this past month. Mostly this was because of medical matters—nothing to be alarmed about, in the end, but it meant a bit of a hiatus in the writing-and-working life. that means about 3500 words.

Fredericksburg Academy comments

Hello to all the 9th-graders from Fredericksburg Academy who've been reading "Singing My Sister Down" in class and wondering and worrying about Ik and her family. I'm afraid I won't have time this year to go to your blogs and comment there, but here are a few remarks.

There are definitely clues in the story as to why Ikky is being executed; they're small, but they're there. It's a story you

Edinburgh Book Festival

I'm thrilled to be going to the Edinburgh Book Festival, where I'll be panelising with Melvin Burgess next Monday evening, and doing a solo talk about fantasy writing next Tuesday morning as part of the schools program.

As well, I'll be taking part in the Edinburgh World Writers' Conference, where we'll drag out five Big Questions that were debated with some fire at the first EWWC in 1962, and
