Bythe time they reached the stables, the rain had turned into a deluge, soakingthem to the bone. Adam swung the door shut behind them, breathless, the wetstrands of his hair plastered to his forehead. Water streamed from his clothes,his shirt clinging tightly to his chest and arms.
Leahleaned against the wall, trying to catch her breath, her laughter breakingthrough the steady drum of rain on the roof. “You’d think between the two ofus, we’d know when a storm’s coming by now.” she teased, her voice lightdespite the tension still thrumming between them.
Adamdidn’t respond at first. His hands moved to his soaked shirt, and in one fluidmotion, he pulled it over his head, tossing it across a beam to dry. Leah’slaughter faltered, her breath catching as she took in the sight of him—bronzedskin glistening from the rain, every line of his muscled chest and arms atestament to years of hard, honest labor. Leahcouldn’t tear her eyes away, her breath catching in her throat as she tried tofocus on wringing out her dress. But the sight of him, standing there with thestorm raging outside, felt like more than she could bear. “Welook a sight,” she said, trying to inject a note of humor, but her heart wasracing, not from the run, but from the nearness of him.
Hisgreen eyes fell on her form, tracing every line and curve. The way her dressclung to her, molded against her shape, made his pulse quicken, a fire sparkinglow in his belly. Every inch of her felt like a temptation—her damp curlsframing her face, her skin flushed from the run, her eyes bright with thethrill of the storm. The air was thick, charged with everything he’d held backfor so long, every glance he’d forced himself to look away from, every touchhe’d denied.
Hetook a deep, shuddering breath, his jaw clenching as he tore his gaze away. Thewar between what he wanted and what he believed was right had never felt sobrutal.
Leahlooked up then, catching him staring, her lips parting slightly, her gazesoftening as she held his. The vulnerability in her eyes made his heart clench,and he felt his resolve waver. The space between them felt charged, heavy withall the things he could never say aloud. What inspired you to become an author?
I started trying my hand at writing as soon as I could read. I alwaysloved singing and reading poetry, so at first I only wrote song lyrics andpoetry. Before long, other types ofbooks caught my fancy. . .mainly fantasy. I’ve also always had an affinity forresearching and categorizing information. These are the things that ultimatelyled to my first book about a metal horn unicorn tribe in which each characterhad a magical power based on the metal of their horns. This was long beforecomputers so all of my research was done by hand from dictionaries andencyclopedias.
Do you have a specific writing style?
I’d say my specific writing style is educational fantasy. The work Idid on my unicorn fantasy story is what led to the idea of writing the first inmy series of illustrated periodic table books. I already had the beginningswith 12 unicorns ready to present 12 elements of the periodic table. I had previously decided that this book wouldbe laid out in alphabetical order so I only needed to come up with 14 moreunique unicorns and elements to complete the alphabet. How hard could it be, I thought… Turns out itwas quite a bit more difficult than I anticipated because not all letters ofthe alphabet are represented by an element. I had to get quite creative toaccount for all of the letters.
Do you write in different genres?
I do write in other genres but this book series has turned into aseveral year project so everything I’ve written in the past few years,including about 100 articles, have been about elements of the periodic table.As I mentioned, the first book in this series had Metal Horn Unicornspresenting 26 elements. Next, cameElemental Dragons presenting 26 elements, also in alphabetical order. Thiscurrent book features Alchemical wizards discussing more elements. In fact, there were so many elements to becovered by the wizards that I had to split them into 2 books. Book 2 will be out later this year. Afterthat, Actinide Knights and Radioactive Goblins will finish up the series.
If yes which is your favorite genre to write?
I love to write books that are illustrated because you can use thepictures in a thousand ways (like the previously mentioned articles) formarketing and promotion. For the Magical Elements of the Periodic Table seriesof books, I have used the graphics for creating memes for social media, the video shorts, activity pages to help withlearning and remembering about each element, trading cards for sharing withfriends, a bingo game, and even t-shirts. I’ve also utilized the pictures to puttogether special pages on the website where I’ve placed links to my research sothat readers can check my facts and learn more themselves.
Do you have a song or playlist (book soundtrack) thatyou think represents this book?
The theme song for all of the Magical Elements of the Periodic Tablebooks is called “No Metal – No Magic”. The lyrics for it feature the metal hornunicorns but it’s still applicable for all of the elementals. Their motto, after all, is No Metal – NoMagic. . . and No Technology. Think about that for a second. There literally wouldbe no modern life without the amazing gifts the elements have provided mankindover the years. The instrumental music for the song is the background music forall of the video shorts that I’ve, so far, created for the magical elementals.One day, I hope to have a video for each of the 118 elementals and the elementsthey represent. What inspired you to become an author?
It all started when I was in the eighth grade, I wrote a story about aliens and the teacher loved it and entered it into a writing contest. Although I didn’t win, I was hooked!
How did you come up with the title for your latest book?
“Between Heaven and Saturn” is the second book in the Eye of Saturn vampire series. I wanted to be consistent and create a brand for the series. Each book in the series will have Saturn in the title.
Do you title the book first or wait until after it’s complete?
I always title the book first.
Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
Yes, but the message isn’t revealed until book four, which is the last book in the Eye of Saturn series.
Of all the characters you’ve ever written, who is your favorite and why?
My favorite character is Felipe de Hayos. He is flawed, making him the quintessential tragic hero. This character evolves, starting out as a normal young man in love, ending up a cursed vampire that does horrible things. He becomes a larger-than-life character, a cursed vampire with impeccable supernatural powers. Felipe also struggles with his inner conflict, which makes the character complex and interesting.
If this book is part of a series…what is the next book? Any details you can share?
I am finishing up book three in the Eye of Saturn series. I plan to have it released spring/summer of 2026. I can share this much about the book: Time is running out for Felipe. He only has two months before the Eye of Saturn reopens. It is imperative that he finds his beloved Zaybeth and turn her into a vampire before the Eye opens or risk having to face her in a battle to the death.
Do you have any advice for other writers?
The best advice I can give any writer is to keep on writing. Life will sometimes get in the way, but don’t let that stop you from writing. Oh, and keep a notebook handy to jot down notes/ideas. You never know when inspiration will hit. Inspiration often happens at the most inopportune time—weddings, funerals, while sleeping, while driving, during an important meeting…etc.

While writing the Eye of Saturn series I also created a language called Solsatihel—the language of Saturn. The inspiration for the language came as a result of listening to the 2005 NASA's Cassini-Huygens spacecraft audio recordings of Saturn's intense radio emissions. The recordings had eerie whistling, frightful whooshing, and haunting warbling echoes.
