Writing Fantasy Fiction Guest blog with Laura Lond

I knew early on as a writer that fantasy was the genre I wanted to work in. I love the creative freedom it offers. You get to invent your own world with its history, traditions, customs, races, and creatures; you can use historical or contemporary settings, and you can incorporate almost any other genre in the story—mystery, romance, comedy, crime, horror.
Of course, just like with any other genre, you can't please everyone, no matter what you do. For some readers fantasy has to be Tolkien-like: medieval settings with elves, dwarves, and orcs or similar races; others will accuse such a book of being unoriginal and call it a Tolkien rip-off. I think it's important for a writer to realize this fact, accept it, and find their own niche, their own audience that will appreciate exactly the type of fantasy they write. Simply put, write what you love, and readers who love the same stuff will find you.
For me, fantasy has always meant historical European-like settings with swords and cloaks. It is usually called traditional fantasy or historical fantasy. I also enjoy a good bit of humor. Historical fantasy is not normally perceived as funny, but hey. "Write what you love," so why not? So in this particular book, My Sparkling Misfortune, I decided to have a field day with funny. We have a snarky villain who wants to capture an evil spirit to serve him but messes up and catches a good, fairy-like spirit instead. Their antics have made all kinds of readers laugh aloud: adults and teens, guys and gals, fantasy fans and those who normally do not read fantasy.
Does that mean I've created a book with universal appeal? I don't think so; I am sure there are plenty of readers who wouldn't "get" the book. But the overall formula of writing from your heart, being original and striving for the best quality seems to work.

My Sparkling Misfortune
By Laura Lond
Book blurb:

Lord Arkus of Blackriver Castle readily admits that he is a villain and sees no reason why it should stop him from being the protagonist of this book. After all, Prince Kellemar, an aspiring hero, has defeated him in a rather questionable way. Bent on revenge, Arkus attempts to capture a powerful evil spirit who would make him nearly invincible, but a last-minute mistake leaves him with a Sparkling instead—"a goody-goody spirit that helps heroes, watches over little children, and messes up villains' plans." Bound to Lord Arkus for five years of service and sworn to act in his best interests, the Sparkling is not easy to get rid of, and of course his understanding of "best interests" is quite different from what Lord Arkus has in mind.

Excerpt from Devil Unknown
Prelude
He stood motionless in the cold, sparse room. Perfect for his plans.
The rat droppings were fresh. His intended guest would have more company than first thought. The stench of mold, urine and sulfur filled the air. The aroma aroused him.
He rubbed his hands together as he viewed the room. The scorched cement blocks were a nice addition. The fingers of long ago flames licked the walls and left burn patterns snaking towards the ceiling. The little cracks in the floor crisscrossed each other until the kaleidoscope of weeds peeping through the cracks decorated the floor. Ants and other insects scurried away from his boots as he walked around the room.
Chains anchored in the walls promised torturous delight. Exactly what his guest deserved. Saliva pooled and dripped from his lips as he imagined the hell he was about to create for her.
It was all for her.
Innocent. Humble.
A gift. For him.
Chapter One
Rotting carcasses littered the path to home.
Nathan Hanlin entered the twilight zone as he drove along the curving mountain road towards home. The remnants of ominous music played in his mind. If he didn't know better, from the dark swelling clouds filling his rearview mirrors to the dust swirls up ahead, Nathan would think he'd entered his own private hell.
Sentries of large black crows faced him on either side of the highway.
His worst nightmares come true.
For the past week his dreams were filled with the disgusting birds circling over a car wreck. Nathan shuddered at the memory. He'd heard that crows were once used as messengers from the spirits, but if they were trying to tell him something, he wasn't sure he wanted to hear it.
He rolled his shoulders, trying to ease a kink that had set in more than an hour ago. The highway from the city to Bandit Creek stretched on forever. Ahead was the pass but at the rate he was going, it would be night before he reached it.
Swerving to miss another dead animal, Nathan's grip tightened on the steering wheel. The crows' beady eyes followed him as he drove past. It was unreal how they perched there, their black wings tucked tight against their slick bodies. Only their eyes moved, as if tracking him.
He could have sworn they were looking directly at him. Not his vehicle. Him. As if they knew him.
The archway to the Pass approached in the distance. Nathan pushed his foot until the speedometer inched higher. Thirty feet ahead a barricade of large black crows were positioned beneath the large metal sign with the aged black letters – Crow Mountain Pass. Swirling clouds of dust sheathed the birds' movements, creating an illusion of a huge black dust storm. Hundreds of eyes stared at him.
You need us.
Nathan jerked his foot off the pedal. What the…?
He must be more tired than he thought. Not a good thing to be on this road. He'd conducted too many funerals from late night driving accidents on this windy road. His vehicle inched its way along, coming to a full stop right before the crows as their deafening caws filled the air.
The side windows and windshield cracked as the multitude of crows flew at him, their screams filling the air. Nathan ducked his head to his steering wheel, hands over his ears. The glass shook from the impact. Nathan was sure his windows would break. He didn't understand what was happening. His skin rippled from the onslaught of the invisible beaks poking at his skin. Fingers of dread tunneled through his brain. Nathan cried out in anguish, begging God for help.
Raising his head, he jammed his foot on the gas and accelerated until he drove past the swirling cascade. Gasping, Nathan struggled to regulate his breathing, failing with each inhale. Once he made it beneath the archway, he glanced in his rearview mirror. Nothing.
No crows, no swirling dust, nothing. The chaos had vanished.
He hit the brake, his toes cramping from the quick movement. He leaned forward and rested his arms on the steering wheel. Scratch marks ran along the hood. Nicked, dented and littered with stray feathers, his truck looked like it had been dragged into hell.
His hand reached for the door handle then stopped. His arms collapsed and chafed against the leather edge of the wheel before they fell onto his legs. His body shook as if an earthquake erupted beneath his feet. Pools of sweat poured down his face as they mingled with his tears.
What just happened?

About the Author:

Shelley lives in New Zealand with her husband.

Typical New Zealanders, Shelley and her husband left home for their big OE soon after they married (translation of New Zealand speak – big overseas experience). A year long adventure lengthened to six years of roaming the world. Enduring memories include being almost sat on by a mountain gorilla in Rwanda, lazing on white sandy beaches in India, whale watching in Alaska, searching for leprechauns in Ireland, and dealing with ghosts in an English pub.

While travel is still a big attraction, these days Shelley is most likely found in front of her computer following another love – that of writing stories of romance and adventure. Other interests include watching rugby and rugby league (strictly for research purposes), and curling up with a good book.

Review: It Takes a Witch (A Wishcraft Mystery, #1)

It Takes a Witch (A Wishcraft Mystery, #1) It Takes a Witch by Heather Blake

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am in love with this new series.

What a wonderful addition to the cozy mystery genre, I love the touch of the paranormal added in.

Heather Blake has created a wonderful new spin on witches in Salem that is both lighthearted and serious. An all around wonderful read to get lost in.

I love mysteries like this because yes- we're dealing with murder- aren't we always? Yet the book and characters are light not all dark, dreary and scary like many paranormal and urban fantasy books are.

Darcy and her sister Harper are characters I am going to love reading more about- and the little side characters- the familiars. I expect they will be stealing the show in future books.

I'm adding this series to my must read list and will be looking forward to each new book.

Review: Third Grave Dead Ahead (Charley Davidson #3)

Third Grave Dead Ahead (Charley Davidson #3) Third Grave Dead Ahead by Darynda Jones

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

No author can make me laugh as much as Darynda Jones.

The first book had me laughing so hard people were looking at me funny at the doctor's office- and that was just from the first three pages.

This book was the same, within the first couple pages I was snorting, giggling and finally laughing out loud. Though this time I made sure to read in the privacy of my own so no one would give me dirty looks.

Darynda's humor is kooky, snarky, and sometimes downright odd which is perfect for me cause I'm kinda the same way- a little off and a lot snarky. ;-)

Charley is an oddball character, a little wild, complex, self deprecating at times, and oh yeah- the Grim Reaper. So I think that allows her some humor and craziness right? Especially when people always seem to be trying to kill her.

Charley's assistant Cookie is just as fun and their banter is a joy to read.

The men in Charley's life...so many men. From family to friends to the Son of Satan, who has an unhealthy obsession with her, to the new biker guys added in this book. Wow- makes you wonder exactly who she's going to get sick of and who she'll end up with. Reyes is sexy as hell but I really can't stand his abusive attitude. Yeah I get it, Son of Satan but does he have to be such a threatening control freak? And she makes excuses for him "he was like a cage animal". Yeah abused women make excuses like that for their abusive psycho boyfriends and husbands too. Doesn't make it right.

So other than Reyes's over Alpha, way too violent demeanor, I thoroughly enjoy every single action packed, humor laced line in these books.

All I can say is "Darynda, please write faster. I can not get enough of Charley Davidson."

Review: A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy, #1)

A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy, #1) A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Complex and captivating this book sucked me in from the first page.

I don't think I've ever read a book that so deeply blended magic, science and history into such an amazing read.

It took me longer to read this book than any other novel I've ever read- and not because it was bad but because I wanted to absorb every detail and make sure I understood what was going on.

This book isn't for the average paranormal reader who wants a quick read- no this one is a book you;ll want to take your time with, dive in and absorb all the details. Let it sink into your mind and you'll find yourself a little smarter by the end of the book :-)

It's quite obvious the author is an academic. I love the fact that she's taken "genre fiction", turned it on it's ear and created something that can be tossed as those stuffy academics that don't believe "genre fiction" is worth their time. Fluffy, meaningless words some call popular novels.

Well A Discovery of Witches may be fictional but the history and detail, the science, the possibilities...it definitely asks questions and makes you wonder.

I can't wait to see where this series goes and what we'll discover along the way.

Harkness has proven to have her own kind of magic and I am surely caught in her spell.

Entangled in Love Character Interview and Giveaway with Rosalie Lario

Valentine Character Interview and GiveawayBy Rosalie Lario
Today I thought it would be fun to feature Cresso, the main characters from Heart of the Incubus, my novella set in the Demons of Infernum world. It takes place late spring, shortly after Genevieve and Cresso get together, but he's been in love with her far longer than that...
Rosalie:  I'll start off with a brief introduction. Cresso, you work as a biochemist for Elcorp Laboratory, which is an Otherworlder research lab funded by the council governing travel between dimensions. This is where you met Dr. Genevieve Russell, right?
Cresso:  Yes, Gen started working at Elcorp over a year ago. She's a chemical analyst...one of the most brilliant in existence, if I may add.
Rosalie:  So, from the moment you both met, it was love at first sight.
Cresso:  Not exactly. She hated my guts.
Rosalie:  I still find that incredibly hard to believe.
Cresso:  I know. It wasn't until recently that I realized her feelings toward me weren't personal, but based on her past experiences. To put it plainly, her ex-fiance was a douchebag.
Rosalie:  What does that have to do with you?
Cresso:  She walked in on her ex with two other women. Since she knew I was an incubus and survive off sex, she assumed I was the same kind of man.
Rosalie:  Well...in a way, weren't you? I mean, you weren't necessarily known for living the life of a monk before you two got together.
Cresso:  That was before Gen. She's changed my life completely. I know it sounds corny, but she's made me whole.
Rosalie:  Okay, since Valentine's Day just passed, I was hoping you would repeat a story Gen told me about what you did last V-Day.
Cresso:  Crap, she told you about that?
Rosalie:  You know I know everything about your personal life.
Cresso:  Ah f***. Okay, here's the deal. This past Valentine's Day, she didn't know how I truly felt about her, and I still assumed she hated me, but...she always seemed so serious and caught up in her work. So sad. I wanted to make her smile.
Rosalie:  So what'd you do?
Cresso:  So I, uh... *mutters something under breath*
Rosalie:  What's that?
Cresso:  I slid a box of Fauchon chocolates into her lab when she wasn't looking. Seems obvious and trite, I know, but I noticed that she has a weakness for that brand of chocolates. Didn't tell her they were from me, of course. She might've tossed them back in my face if she'd known.
Rosalie:  So she didn't get suspicious about receiving chocolates from a mystery admirer?
Cresso:  I left a note saying they were a gift from the board of directors at Elcorp. They do give gifts for the holidays, so it didn't seem like such a big stretch.
Rosalie:  Aww, that's so sweet!
Cresso:  Stop, you'll make me blush.
Rosalie:  I didn't think an incubus could get embarrassed about anything.
Cresso:  Guess you found my weak spot. Anyway, the chocolates put a smile on her face, so they were well worth it.
Rosalie:  That was an awfully nice thing to do for someone who professed to dislike you.
Cresso:  What can I say? No matter how she felt about me, I knew I loved her. Seemed like such a small thing to do, really.
Phone rings, and Cresso pulls it out of his pocket and reads the display.
Cresso:  Gotta go. That's Gen. She's downstairs waiting for me.
Rosalie:  Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.
Cresso rises and starts for the door.
Rosalie:  Oh, Cresso.
Cresso:  Yes?
Rosalie:  I hope you two stay together forever. I truly do.
Cresso:  *Smiles widely* No worries. We will.

Entangled in Love Valentine Guest Blog and Giveaway with Sarah Gilman

Valentine's Day means many different things to different people. When I think back to Valentine's Days of the past, I remember things such as the huge heart decorations at Curves when I was in college…and braving the 6 feet of snow on the ground and the -50 degrees F wind chill to get there (I think the non-wind chill temp was -25). Those are not typos. Northern Vermont can get %*^#ing cold, especially at the high elevations where I went to school. My freshman year, the town water tower froze. Yes, the entire water tower. That's cold. For me, Valentine's Day is a fun little holiday—I love me some conversation hearts!—but it is synonymous with cold.
So happens, we're having a mild winter this year. Extremely mild: It's above freezing at least once a week! However, it's a rare respite. The demon colony Sanctuary is located in the northeastern-most corner of Vermont, so the first thought that went through my mind as I sat down to write this post was: They must be freezing their tushes off up there. Hmm. What would they do to keep warm? ;-) So, without further ado… Wren and Ginger's first Valentine's Day!

"Don't even think about moving. If you do, you lose a flight feather. Maybe two." Curled in a ball under Wren's wing, Ginger turned the page of her book and adjusted the tiny reading light attached to the back cover.
"It's almost noon." Apparently unconcerned with her threat, Wren stretched and got out of bed.
Cold air and sunlight replaced the warm retreat Ginger had made for herself under her mate's wing. She cursed and pulled the sheet over her naked body. The nearby wood stove put off a decent amount of heat, but never chased the chill from a room large enough for archangels to stretch their wings.
"You're cruel."
He leaned over the bed and brushed her cheek with his fingertips. "We're going outside."
"No, we're not." She burrowed deeper under the sheet. Had Wren lost his mind? The persistent cold weather had kept him and his father—who both resented being confined indoors for any reason—on solid ground for over a week. The wind chill of flight made it much colder than the thermometer suggested, and even the archangels had limits. For her part, passing the winter sitting by the stove reading good books—or lounging in bed with her mate when he indulged her—sounded like an ideal plan.
"You grew up in Alaska, Gin."
"Doesn't mean I like the cold."
"It's sunny for the first time in weeks. Besides, it's Valentine's Day, and I have something in mind."
She stared up at him. Valentine's Day? She knew that, of course, but had wondered if he'd acknowledge it. She'd never had occasion to appreciate the holiday for anything other than fun trips with her father when she'd been younger. She'd never asked Wren what he thought of the human holiday.
"If you want to celebrate Valentine's Day, you'll get back in bed and keep me warm. And not with your wings."
"Hmm." He trailed his fingers down her neck, making an exaggerated show of considering her suggestion. She pushed the sheet off her body and extended her arms over her head in a languid stretch.
"You cheating, manipulating seductress." He got into bed and pulled her into his arms. He squeezed until she squirmed for air. "Once we're warm, we're going outside."
"But—"
He cut off her protest with a kiss.
~***~
Ginger pulled her plush hat low over her ears and shrugged into her winter coat. She stared at the windows. The brilliant blue sky and the sunlight beckoned, but what on earth did Wren have in mind for such a cold day? They'd freeze if he took them flying, warm sun none withstanding. A walk around the colony on the shoveled paths would have appealed, but the multitude of evergreen trees blocked the sun for the most part. The demons liked their shade.
Wren, who'd gone downstairs a few minutes ago, returned with two white boxes with red ribbon under his arms. He grinned and brushed her arm with his wing. "Ready?"
"Depends. What are you up to?"
He handed her one of the boxes. "For you. Happy Valentine's Day, Gin."
"Hmm." She kissed him and gave the heavy box a shake.
"Have you guessed yet?"
"Lifetime supply of chocolate?"
"No."
"Books?"
"No."
"I can't imagine."
"Have you looked outside?" His smile grew downright smug.
"Uh…" She turned and stepped closer to the windows. The sunlight reflected off the snow, so blinding she'd need sunglasses before they went out. She squinted, scanning the flight deck, the snow-covered lawn, the snow banks—
Snow banks?
Beyond snow banks that had not been there yesterday, the frozen lake glinted in the light. Clear, smooth, ice. Yesterday and every day before that since December, snow as deep as her waist had been sitting on the frozen lake. She'd halfheartedly complained more than once, because ice skating was her favorite winter activity.
She tore the ribbon off the box and lifted the lid. A pair of white ice skates sat in red tissue paper inside. "You didn't." She lifted one of the skates and glanced back at the cleared lake. "How?"
"Most of the colony helped me shovel all night. We also spread water to make a smooth skating surface."
She set the skates aside and wrapped her arms around Wren's neck. "Thank you."
"You mentioned it a few times. I thought this would beat chocolate and flowers. But, I got you those, too."
She laughed"I bet I can get us going rather fast." He flared out his wings.
She took his hand and pulled him toward the door. "Let's go! Later, I'll give you your Valentine's Day gift. You won't believe the dinner I have planned."
He pulled her to a stop for a lingering, deep kiss, and then they headed out into the sunshine.
End.

Entangled in Love Character Interview and Giveaway with Lisa Kessler

Happy Valentine's Day from Calisto Terana (aka the Hero of Night Walker)…
Hi everyone!
Thanks so much to Roxanne for inviting me to Fangtastic Books today!  I'm very excited to get the chance to meet up with Calisto, my Spanish hero from Night Walker , to discuss this holiday of love of and chocolate…
(Since you're reading and can't hear his deep voice and strong Spanish accent, imagine Antonio Banderas speaking…  And if you have seen the Night Walker cover, you know that Calisto has a body made for love!  Now you understand why I was so excited to have an excuse to interview him! LOL)
*Ahem*  Let's get started.  Thanks for chatting with me tonight, Calisto.
Buenas Noches, to all the Fangtastic blog readers.  I hope that you enjoyed a romantic Valentine's Day.
How did you and Kate celebrate? *Calisto smiles and my heart thumps.  He glances at me and I realize he can hear my heart thumping.  Crap!  Okay now I'm blushing.*
I surprised her with a diamond ring.
An engagement ring?
*He nods, his lips curving at the corners, threatening to de-rail me with another smile* Si. I have wanted to marry her for centuries.
And she said…
*Calisto laughs* She said yes.
Wow.  *I feel mushy romantic emotions welling up*  For the people who haven't read your book yet, can you explain how big a deal this is?
*He shrugs his broad shoulders and I swear I can feel a ripple of power* I will try.
I have loved Kate for over two hundred years.  We met on the coast of San Diego.  I was a mortal man then.  A priest.  I came to the new world from Spain to help convert the savages.
I met a young woman named Tala.  She had the most amazing eyes.  In the lower corner of her right iris, I could see a lighter crescent of color, as if she carried the moon in her eyes.  We started to meet at sunset.  She taught me the language of the Kumeyaay people, and in trade, I taught her to waltz.  She always had a song to share.  *He shakes his head with a distant smile* I fell in love with her.  Although it went against my vows, I never regretted the way she fit into my arms, the way I felt when she smiled up at me.
But I trusted the wrong man with my secret and I lost her. *His hands clench into fists* She was murdered before we could wed, and I chose to give up my soul in trade for immortality to wait until her spirit was reincarnated.
And now you're finally going to get married!  *I hope he can't see the fluffy hearts floating over my head*
I see nothing over your head. *his dark eyes sparkle with mischief*
Ack!  I forgot you can hear my thoughts. *BLUSH*  So let's see if I can make you blush…  Have you heard some of the reviews about Night Walker?
*Calisto shakes his head*
Well let me share a few with you…
Kelley Armstrong, a #1 New York Times Best Selling author said "Hot romance and cool characters make Night Walker an all-night read."
And Fresh Fiction Book reviews called Night Walker, "Haunting and beautiful."Night Owl Book Reviews made your story a Top Pick and said "After reading this captivating tale of love, lies, betrayal, and redemption, I am hard pressed to find things I didn't like."
*Calisto smiles* I am honored that my love for Kate has touched readers.  I am very grateful to you as well, for giving our story a voice.
I loved every second of writing Night Walker.  Definitely no regrets.  Thanks so much for sharing your big news with the readers here at Fangtastic Books!  Bye Calisto.
Adios.
*Calisto leaves.  I can see him walking to Kate's battle-scarred VW Bug.  She's waiting for him, leaning against the front hood.  He pulls her up into his arms and kisses her.  My heart melts.  And then I remember I'm still here… On the blog… with you!*
*BLUSH*
Well, thank you for reading!!!  So I wonder if we'll get to see Kate and Calisto's wedding?  He didn't say when they were getting married…  Hmmm…
Maybe I could get an invitation for all of us?
Do you enjoy reading about weddings in novels?  Let me know what you think…  One lucky commenter will win a free eBook copy of Night Walker
Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Entangled in Love Valentine Guest Blog and Giveaway with Boone Brux

To celebrate Valentine's Day several of the characters from my Bringer and the Bane series have gathered to answer the tough questions about love and relationships.
Please welcome our cast.
Rhys and Ravyn, the main characters of Shield of Fire.
Luc and Jade, the hero and heroine of Kiss of the Betrayer.
Icarus and Sha-hera, Demon Bane, and mortal enemies of the Bringers as well as each other.
This should be interesting.
First question, what was the most romantic thing anyone has ever done for you?
Ravyn: I'd have to say it was when Rhys saved me from Vile, the Demon King. He'd been a jerk that week, so I figured he'd written our relationship off. It was a lovely surprise to wake up and find him hovering over me.
Rhys: (Nods) I was rather amazing—in a romantically heroic way.
Luc: I once had a woman name her breasts after me. The right was Luc and the left was Le Daun. It made love making very interesting.
Jade: (Clears throat) And narcissistic I'm sure.
Luc: All right then, what was the most romantic thing anyone ever did for you?
Jade: None of your business.
Luc: Come on, give it up.
Jade: You lead off with naming breasts and expect me to share a special memory? Forget it. Can you go to someone else please?
Icarus: I don't understand what you mean by romantic.
Sha-hera: I once had a man tell me he loved me.
Icarus: We're you getting ready to kill him?
Sha-hera: No.
Icarus: Was he enthralled.
Sha-hera: Not even a little.Icarus: Then you're lying.
What would be the perfect Valentine's Day date?
Ravyn: A day of doing nothing but lounging around Alba Haven. No fighting or training. No chores. A lovely dinner with friends followed by an evening in Rhys's arms.
Rhys: I'm good with that.
Luc: I like Ravyn's idea, but I'd add an abundant amount of wine and maybe some dancing girls.
Jade: (Crosses arms and pins Luc with a glare.)
Luc: And an evening spent in Jade's arms?
Jade: Are you asking permission, because after that, my answer is no. You're going to live a sad and lonely life if you don't brush up on your relationship skills.
Icarus: The perfect date would be sucking six or seven souls and then having everybody leave me the bloody hell alone.
Sha-hera: I have to agree with Icarus on this. Several soul suckings, but instead stomping off to be alone, I'd engage in a hearty sparring session with my succubae. I'm always so exhilarated after absorbing souls, especially if they're innocents. I need to work off the excess energy.
What is your favorite gift you've given or received?
Ravyn: Most definitely it was the dagger Rhys gave me. Sure, we were in the heat of battle, but it saved my life.
Rhys: No question, the best gift I ever received was Ravyn's maidenhood.
Ravyn: Best gift I ever gave as well.
Luc: (Reaches to take Jade's hand) Every moment I spend with Jade is a precious gift.
Jade: The fact that he's willing to lie through his teeth to keep the waters calm is the best gift Luc can give me. You might have noticed that we butt heads at times. (Leans in and kisses Luc) But we're trying.
Icarus: The best gift I've ever given myself was when I ripped out Sha-hera's throat and sent her back to the Shadow World. (heavy sigh) That was a great night.
Sha-hera: The best gift I ever received was when the Demon King publically humiliated Icarus, stripping him of all authority, and put me in charge. (heavy sigh) That was a great day.
Thanks to all of you for taking the time to share your Valentine's thoughts. It's been very enlightening.
