Book 3
Escape from Earth. Check.
Morph into an avian body. Check.
Survive Fledge and Deliverance, soul intact. Check.
Bring her Siblings back to Amelia and restore the avian race? Not so fast, darlin’.
There’s a new twist on an old prophecy and this one brings the End of Days. Junco must make a choice, but the choices all confirm her only worth is tied up in killing.
Lucan has secrets. Secrets that will make the Stag Camp look like playschool. And the lies are flowing like a mountain river during spring thaw. But he needs Junco to cooperate just a little bit longer or it all falls apart.
The Siblings on Earth are waiting for the Seventh to return and pull their clutch together. But Earth has secrets too -- secrets that change everything.
Junco has survived against impossible odds, but the cost of survival is higher than she ever imagined. Luck is about to catch up with Junco Coot and her debt must be paid.

Junco Coot can’t even remember her trip off Earth; she was too busy being morphed into her new avian body. But reality hits her hard when she wakes up to find her new life is not what she expected. Not even close. Tier is on trial for disobeying his commander’s kill order and only Junco seems to care.
In most places the avian coming-of-age Fledge ritual would be nothing more than mass murder, but here in the capital city of Amelia, it’s called growing up. Junco has no choice; either fight to the death to prove her worth or get sent back to Earth in the hands of her enemies.
Her new military team is hostile, her body is being taken over by an illicit artificial intelligence, the avian president wants her dead, and her only friend is a ten-year old throwaway boy.
On a foreign habitat, in a foreign culture, and surrounded by people she can’t trust or count on, Junco must find a way to save herself and Tier without losing her immortal soul in the process.

BLURB
In 2152 the avian race is on Earth looking for something stolen from them decades ago – their genetics. At the center of the search lies the Rural Republic; a small backwards farming country with high hopes of military domination and a penchant for illegal bioengineering.
19 year old Junco Coot is the daughter of the Rural Republic’s ranking commander. She’s the most foul-mouthed, wildly unpredictable and ruthless sniper the Rural Republic has ever trained. But when her father’s death sparks a trip into forbidden places, she triggers events that will change everything she knows to be true.
As an elite avian military officer, Tier’s mission is to destroy the bioengineering projects, kill Commander Coot’s daughter, and return home immediately. There’s just one problem. Junco isn’t who she claims to be.
With no one to trust, not even herself, Junco must confront the secrets of her past and accept her place in the future, or risk losing herself completely.

About the Author:
J. A. Huss never took a creative writing class in her life. Some would say it shows. Others might cut her some slack. She did however, get educated and graduated from Colorado State University with a B.S. in Equine Science. She had grand dreams of getting a Ph.D. but while she loves science, she hated academia and settled for a M.S. in Forensic Toxicology from the University of Florida.
She went on to write science curriculum for homeschoolers and now runs a successful home business that creates and offers online science unit studies. When she’s not writing science curriculum or fiction, she works as a farm inspector, traveling the Eastern Plains of Colorado in variety of environmentally friendly vehicles that never have four-wheel drive, so when she gets stuck in the mud in said vehicles, she has to beg for assistance from anyone who will help her. She is not bitter about that at all.
She’s always packing heat and she is owned by two donkeys, five dogs, more chickens and ducks than she can count, and of course, the real filthy animals, her kids. The I Am Just Junco series was born after falling in love with the ugliest part of Colorado and the Rural Republic is based on the area of the state she currently resides in, minus the mutants, of course.

Spotlight: Moonlight by Katie Salidas

Good girls don’t wear fur, or fight over men, and they certainly don’t run around naked, howling at the moon.
But then, no-one ever called Fallon a good girl.
As a human unofficiallymated to an Alpha werewolf, Fallon is being pressured to “become”...or be gone.
Her mate Aiden, the interim leader of the Olde Town Pack, is in a position that demands he either choose a wolf mate...or leave the pack forever. No matter how hot the sex with Fallon is, he can’t ignore centuries of tradition.
Become a wolf or not. If only the choice were that simple. Fallon’s options are further clouded by the overt presence of other females desperate to be the Alpha’s mate. And when these bitches get serious, it’s not just claws that come out. If Fallon wants to keep her man and take the title she’ll have to exert a little dominance of her own.

Someone knocked on the door, a soft almost tapping sound. It was my turn to growl, only this time it was out of frustration. I wasn’t ready to end our moment.“I’m busy.” Aiden shouted to the door. “Sorry, boss.” Diana said. “Micah is here and the rest of the council are meeting in the conference room.”“Bad timing,” I grumbled.“We’ll have to continue this later.” Aiden’s shoulders sagged. “Do you want me to join you in council?”“No. I need to give them the good news though. That should get them off my back. For now, you get that sexy ass into a shower and be ready for me to ravage you again later.” He stood and retrieved his boxers and pants.“Is that all I am to you?” I joked as I sat up on the desk. “Your little play thing.”“No, that’s just one of the perks.” He stole one last kiss and headed for the door. “I won’t be long. I promise.”“You better not.”He walked out, passed Diana and headed down the hallway. She stood in the doorway and once Aiden had walked out of sight turned to me and sneered. I sat proudly on top of Aiden’s desk, naked from the waist down, and crossed my legs. “You think you’re untouchable, don’t you?” Diana spat at me.“You’re treading a very thin line, lady.”“Tough words for a human. I could shred you right here.”“So do it. What are you waiting for? Oh, right… Aiden would have your head for that.”“Accidents happen.” An evil glint shone in her eye and a smile spread across her face. I wasn’t going to let her scare me. I glared back at her. “They do, don’t they? I’d feel terrible if my fist just accidentally found your face. Cut the crap. You don’t want me for an enemy.” As soon as I became Female Alpha, I planned to make her life hell.“Why, because your fucking the boss?” She rolled her eyes. “Oh yes, I heard. Half the pack heard you. You’re quite the little slut, aren’t you? Just walking into the boss’s office and screwing him as loud as you can for all to hear. Bet you feel like you’re something hot, don’t you?”I folded my arms in front of me. “Lemme tell you a little secret. No one wants a human mating with the Alpha. The council won’t allow it, and I won’t stand for it.” I smiled. “Well that’s just fine by me. I won’t remain a human for long.”She scoffed. “Not everyone survives the transition. There are ways to swing the odds either way.”“Are you threatening me?”“Why? Are you scared?” She sashayed toward me. Her smug expression sent my blood boiling. I gritted my teeth to stop me from saying anything else. I knew what she was doing, trying to get me to snap and she was dangerously close. I was no match for her yet, so I couldn’t challenge her to a fight, but once I transitioned, she would slowly and painfully eat every last word.“I’m going to tell you one last time.” Her voice went deadly quiet. “Leave Aiden and this pack… for your own safety.” I couldn’t help the shiver of fear that threatened to reveal itself. I turned away hoping to keep it hidden and give off the vibe that she was not worth my attention. “Get it through your head. Aiden and I are already mates,” I said with as much conviction as I could muster.“You’ll never be his true mate.”Something slammed hard into the back of my head. Before I could register the pain the world went dark and I felt myself freefalling into nothingness.

Interview with T. Lynne Tolles

Can you tell readers a little bit about yourself and what inspired to write in this particular genre?
I 've read a lot in the Young Adult genre and guess I feel comfortable in it. I don't need a story to have sex to be entertaining and I if I'm reading in another genre I sometimes skip the sex parts just because I find them predictable, hence I write what I enjoy.
Is there a character that you enjoyed writing more than any of the others?
Yes and it's funny because initially Marlin Howard was not going to play as big a role as he does, but the more I played with the character, the more I liked him and used him when I could.
What is your favorite scene from the book? Could you share a little bit of it, without spoilers of course?
My favorite scene is wen Marlin and his wife, Meme, have a comical dialog in the car on the way home from picking up Ella's cat Boo from Grey Manor.
What is the most interesting thing you have physically done for book related research purposes?
Initially it wasn't for a book, but a vacation - we went to Scotland on a family vacation. I used the things I saw and the feelings I got from the being there, in my book Somber Island. I think without having been there, the story might not have come across as dark and gothic as it did.
Do any of your characters have similar characteristics of yourself in them and what are they?
I would say that the lead female characters in all my books tend to be a bit like me, but that wasn't really my intention. Darby in the Blood Series is organized, funny and strong when she needs to be, feminine and soft at other times. In Mirror of Shadows and Somber Island the lead females have had some hard breaks, but that doesn't leave them poisoned to the goodness in people and the beauty found around them. Both women are rather naive and sheltered, and I supposed that too comes from me and my way of dealing with life.
Do you ever suffer from writer’s block? How do you deal with it?
Oh Yes. In fact I had a terrible bout of it when I was writing the last book in the Blood Series. It was actually a couple of fan letters asking how everything ended that actually pushed me over the hump and finishing the book and series.
What are your guilty pleasures in life?
Beer, Cherry Garcia and Baked Macs and Cheese....Yum!
Where is your favorite place to read? Do you have a cozy corner or special reading spot?
When it's pouring rain outside and I'm cuddled in bed with a kitty or two around me. Of course this is how I prefer to write too.
What can readers expect next from you?
I don't expect I'll be writing much until the holidays have come and gone, but I do have three works in progress. One story is about a young woman who finds a hellhound pup and decides to raise it on her own. It will have some humorous "Big Dog" incidents that I'm drawing from my own experience living with a Newfoundland. The woman and the hound will find trouble and mystery at every corner.
Another work in progress I'm tentatively calling Dead Sleep is a story of two lovers that are separated by misfortune. One makes the ultimate sacrifice for the other in order to pick up where they left off in the future, only to find when the future arrives his love, though alive, no longer knows him or their past life together.
Lastly is a silly illustrated book of a cat who thinks he is a super hero called Captain Fuzzypants - illustrations done by me.
Where can readers find you on the web?
I'm on my computer a lot, whether I'm writing or doing some work for my husband, but I tweet (@tlynnetolles), I pin (http://pinterest.com/tlynnetolles/), I facebook (https://www.facebook.com/T.LynneTolle...) and I have a website (http://tlynnetolles.netfirms.com)

Now on Tour The Earth Child’s Handbook - Crafts and Inspiration for the Spiritual Child Books 1 and 2

Greetings! I'm so pleased to be be on this virtual book tour and to finally, finally be sharing The Earth Child's Handbook with you. I say finally because this book really has been over a decade in the making. See, back in 1999 I was pregnant with my daughter, an experience that really sparked my personal spiritual journey. Swollen with life and new inspiration I came down with an intense case of nesting. I started creating coloring pages and paper dolls (all with a Pagan Earth Centric theme) for a little girl who wasn't even born yet, let alone capable of holding a crayon! All these I put on the internet for free - in fact The Pagan Paper Dolls became very popular with Pagan parents who were making their first forays on the internet to find community and content. (You can STILL download the Pagan Paper Dolls for FREE at my website.)
It was the Pagan Paper Dolls that attracted the attention of a Canadian New Age publisher. They contracted me to write the first incarnation of The Earth Child's Handbook - at that time called The Pagan Kids Activity Book (not to be confused with the classic volume by Amber K). The first year of my daughter's life saw me writing and illustrating, testing and engineering the crafts, recipes and activities found in what is now the 2 volumes of The Earth Child's Handbook.
Alas the publisher went out of business and with that any momentum to publish the book seemed lost. I poked around with a few other publishers but never found the right fit and indie publishing was not nearly as easy as it is now. The book project got delayed and I threw myself into raising a little girl and nurturing my career as an artist and designer. Thankfully that worked out pretty well and my artistic career has been very satisfying. (I'm pretty fond of the kid too!)
This past year, 12 years later - I dug out the book and decided it was about darn time this thing got shared with the world! It's amazing how much has changed in 12 years. Now with Twitter, Facebook, social media and so many self publishing resources I've been able to release this book exactly as I wanted. I'm so proud of it. My daughter loves it and it's my fondest wish that you do to.
The Earth Child's Handbook truly has a very broad age range. There is something in this book for just about every age. I've even had spiritual teachers who've recommended the book to their adult students as an easy to understand (and fun!) primer in beginning Pagan spiritual concepts.
Filled with facts and information, coloring pages and paper crafts, activities, recipes and correspondences the book aims to give a broad base to families. You can take what you like from the books and discard what doesn't fit your practice. However you use it, I hope you find it an inspiring addition to your family's spiritual practice.
The Earth Child's Handbook - Book 1 features chapters on the joy of family and diversity, honoring the earth and the principles of the four elements, the universe and Pagan beliefs regarding the Sun and the Moon, explanation of Deities, and an introduction to Magick and Ritual with simple spells and exercises.
Special topics include Shapeshifting, Runes, Book of Shadows, Animal Guides, Chakras, Meditation, Astrological Signs, The Elements, Cycles of the Moon, Magickal Correspondences, Sun Deities, Moon Deities, Triple Goddess and Triple God, The Four Quarters and Casting a Circle.

The Earth Child's Handbook - Book 2 features chapters on the Seasons, the 8 Pagan Sabbats and the Wheel of the Year. Samhain is sometimes celebrated as the Pagan New Year. It is considered a night when the veil between the world of the living and the world of the dead is thinnest. This doesn’t have to be a scary thing. In fact there are many Samhain traditions that are a lovely way of remembering those we love that have passed on. Some families set a dinner plate at the table for every loved one that has passed over. They set out pictures and photos albums of them and tell stories remembering the ones they miss.
This holiday, much like Yule, is a great time for resolutions. Write down what you hope to accomplish in the new year and put it in a bowl on your Samhain altar. Afterwards keep the slip of paper in a safe place, check it often to remind yourself of your goals.
Samhain is a wonderful Sabbat in its own right, but perhaps is even more popular because of its close association with Halloween. Many Pagans celebrate both holidays. Some have separate celebrations for each, dividing the serious topics from the lighthearted; others incorporate the two together for a fun and inspiring celebration. Whatever you choose I hope you have a fun and safe time.
Enjoy yourself by decorating and making costumes but don’t neglect to consider the more serious side of Samhain, and take a moment to remember those who have gone before. Even if you have not lost anyone close to you, we can all find brave and worthy people throughout history and in our local communities who deserve a moment of quiet remembrance in honor of their good works.
Samhain Altar
The Samhain altar is an altar bursting with texture and color. For this holiday you may want to drag out the full altar set up. If you have a cauldron display it proudly. Fill it with candy, or floating candles.
Drape rich fabrics in gold and black across your table. Prints with stars and moons echo the dark decoration of the Samhain night sky. Witches on brooms are no stranger to Halloween decorations, but maybe you can draw a portrait of one you know personally and display them at your table. Set up framed pictures of loved ones, living and deceased. Pumpkins, and gourds make great decorations. Carve a pumpkin in a fabulous design and set them up indoors as well as out. Sprinkle flour around to give your table a dusty spooky look, and set your broom up in the corner.
Samhain Recipe – Pumpkin Bread
Make a delicious bread to share from one of the best treats of the season!
3 cups canned pumpkin1 1/2 cups vegetable oil4 cups sugar6 eggs4 3/4 cups flour (all-purpose)1 1/2 tsps baking powder1 1/2 tsps baking soda1 1/2 tsps salt1 1/2 tsps cinnamon2 regular size bread loaf pans or muffin tins with muffin cup liners.
Have an adult preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Grease your bread loaf pans or spray them with oil spray.
In a large bowl mix the pumpkin, sugar, eggs, and oil together. In another bowl combine the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Stir this mixture into the pumpkin mixture bowl and stir everything well. Pour the batter into the two loaf pans being sure to divide it up evenly. Bake the loaves for about 45 minutes to an hour and have an adult check them to see when they are done.
If you are making muffins you will bake them for only 30 minutes. You can add raisins, nuts, chocolate chips or white chocolate chips to your loaves if you like. Wrap your loaves in plastic wrap to store them.

Character Interview with Michael Talbot and Giveaway

Hi my name is Mark Tufo I am the author of The Spirit Clearing and the Zombie Fallout series along with some other books. I have been tasked with the job of interviewing the lead character from both, Michael Talbot.
Mark - First off I wanted to say thank you Mike for taking time out of your day to do this interview with me.
Mike - You’re most welcome, umm no I’d rather not shake your hand.
Mark - (At this point I realized that word of Mike being a card-carrying germ-a-phobe was not exaggerated) So it’s true what they say about you being afraid of germs?
Mike - Hell Mark, I bet you don’t even know where that hand has been and you want me to shake it?
Mark - (At this point I sniffed my hand, it smelled fine by the way) Do you mind if I ask how many phobias you have?
Mike - It’s not a phobia if it can hurt you, anyone ever die from falling from a low? No they die from falling from heights. And germs, don’t get me started on those, just because you can’t see them doesn’t mean they can’t kill you.
Mark - (At this point Mike pulled out a packet of travel sanitizer cloths to wipe his hands and the arms of the chair he was sitting in.) Okay let’s move on, a lot of folks think that you and I are cut from the same cloth what do you think? (Mike spent a lot of time looking me up and down before he spoke.)
Mike - I guess there’s some initial similarity there but you for sure haven’t been through the hell I have been and until you’ve done that there’s no telling how you’d come out on the other side.
Mark - Fair enough. Okay so I’m going to throw some softball questions at you so that you can hit them out of the park. You ready? (He nodded.) If there was one thing you could change in your long and storied life what would it be?
Mike - That’s softball? You throw a life altering question at me and call that easy? This is something that could have radically changed my life, whatever man, not sure where you got your interviewing skills, must have been a mail order degree. Okay so if I could change one thing I guess it would be to have parked my Jeep closer to the jailhouse in Vona.
Mark - Ahh the classic Red Jeep Wrangler, you still miss that thing? Wasn’t it like 10 years old or something when you lost it?
Mike - I JUST told you that if I could change one thing in my life that would be it, what do you think? Are your questions going to get any better than this? Otherwise I’m outta here.
Mark - Sorry (Mike was just glaring at me - it’s not my damned fault he lost his beloved Jeep) So I heard there’s been talk of making your zombie stories into a movie who do you think could play the perfect Mike Talbot.
Mike - Me.
Mark - Do you act?
Mike - Fine, How about Daniel Day-Lewis but only when he was the cool Indi...Native American in Last of the Mohicans. Not the movie where his hair was cut and he was wearing glasses.
Mark - That’s a stretch (I mumbled - he stood), that would work, please sit, i’m almost done. Your journals have been inspirations to a lot of us, the things you and your family have persevered through, and through it all your faithful dog Henry stood by you, is there any other dog besides Bullies that you love?
Mike - I love all dogs, except for maybe Doberman Pinschers but that’s a painful childhood memory I’d rather not revisit, other than that dogs are awesome but Henry, excuse me King Henry is unique we’ve saved each other a few times, I owe that dog more than I could ever repay him, and I will always be indebted to him.
Mark - Well Mike I just wanted to say it was an honor interviewing you today, (I stood and once again extended my hand, he merely shook his head as he stood and walked away, I overheard him talking as he left the studio.)
Mike - You believe that guy BT? I could have done a better job of interviewing myself.
BT - Forget him man, I’ll go buy you a box of Pop-Tarts.
Mike - Blueberry.

NIGHTMARES
Too many nightmares live in my mind,
too many nightmares leave me in a bind,
too many nightmares surround my soul,
they leave me in fear,
when no one is near.
Too many nightmares,
oh, why are you here?
Leave me in peace
so I may sleep.
And here I go
down to dream.
Sleep be sweet and lay me in rest.

Guest Blog-Eolyn by Karin Rita Gastreich

Shape Shifting in EolynBy Karin Rita Gastreich
One of my favorite books growing up was T.H. White's The Once and Future King.Years later -- [ahem] okay, decades later -- there are still scenes and passages from this book that remain vivid in my memory.
I especially liked Merlin's tutorship of Wart (young Arthur); the way Merlin turned him into different animals such as a fish, an ant, and a hawk.
I mean, how cool is that? As a child, I would have given anything to have a teacher like Merlin at my grade school.
When writing my own novel, I wanted Eolyn and Akmael to have a touch of Merlin’s school of magic. The witch Ghemena and the wizard Tzeremond both include shape shifting as part of their instruction, and once Eolyn and Akmael have mastered High Magic, they learn shape shift on their own.
Shape shifting, by the way, is not without risk in Eolyn’s world. A person who is not properly prepared can get lost in the animal form, and might never become human again. This limitation is not much of a problem in my first novel Eolyn¸ but it becomes very important for the companion novel High Maga.
In theory, a maga trained in High Magic can shape shift into any animal (or plant) with which she has had extensive contact. This gives Eolyn a wide range of options, because she grows up in the South Woods and interacts with all its creatures on a daily basis.
Even so, magas (and mages) tend to favor certain forms over others. Both Akmael and Eolyn prefer Wolf and Owl. This becomes an important expression of the affinity between them, even as they confront each other as enemies on opposite sides of a violent conflict.
I have a special love for wolves, though I have never had the privilege of seeing them in the wild. There are few animals that embody as well as Wolf the image of fierce independence coupled with the deep need for meaningful companionship – Eolyn and Akmael, through and through.
Owl, of course, is a creature of the night. Day creatures like us are crippled by darkness, but Owl is at home. When I do night walks with students in the woods, I always include a moment when we turn off our headlamps. The darkness is astounding -- a deep inky black that is hard to comprehend for those who live in urban environments. It makes you especially appreciative of what it means to be nocturnal.
If I could change into any animal -- just for a little while, because in truth I very much like being human -- I would be a mountain lion, or a puma. I've always been partial to the strength and ferocity of the wild cats, and the powerful sensuality that accompanies their every movement. The puma is a New World animal, so it doesn’t appear in Eolyn, but one of its cousins, Lynx, lives in the South Woods. Lynx is Eolyn’s guardian and friend.
How about you? If you could shapeshift into any animal, what would it be?

Guest blog with Samaire Provost

Hello everyone! My name is Samaire and I write books. My favorite kind of book to read is YA Paranormal, and that’s also my favorite kind of book to write. This book SANCTUARY is the second in a series, the first was EPIDEMIC, and the third will be called DESPERATION and should be out by Thanksgiving. The series is called Mad World. It’s a series set in a dystopian world of a zombie epidemic that’s slowly taking over the whole planet.
The story centers on a patchwork family of friends who have to survive the Zombie Apocalypse. In the first book they were in high school, and in this second book it is five years later. Our ragtag family is more tightly knit than ever, and very protective of its most vulnerable member Luke. He’s a five year old boy who is very special. There’s nobody like him in the entire world, and Alyssa, Jake, Caitlyn, DeAndre and Risa all band together to protect him and get him to safety.
It’s not always easy protecting a precocious little boy, though. It’s an adventure I think you will like. I sure enjoyed writing it, and I feel the story of this family is going in a very interesting direction. In book three, which I am now writing, it may seem like the story direction is clear, but I promise you I will take you by the hand and start running. You will be surprised at the twists and turns the story takes. And if you’ve read EPIDEMIC and this second book SANCTUARY, you know I’m not afraid to kill off a character to make the story thrilling. Who knows what could happen?
The whole idea of the Mad World story came from two points. First, the scientists from America going to Europe to unearth Black Plague corpses and reanimate the Black Plague virus from the 14th century is a true story. This happened in 2011 & 2012 and I read about it and thought it was a dangerous thing to do. I thought, “What could go wrong?” and BAM! I had my story beginning. Second, my own senior acting class went on a year-end trip to Broadway, and we had so much fun! This is where the idea came to start out Alyssa and Jake and the others in NYC.
Couple of facts about me: I am a night owl. I write from about noon to 10-11pm, then go to bed, but not to sleep. In bed, I read. Boy, do I read! I have a bookshelf by my bedside, instead of a nightstand, and this shelf has two tall stacks of books on the top, as well as having all the shelves full of books. Most of the books are YA, some paranormal (well, most actually LOL) some just different or “odd” stories. I’ve got everything from Stephen King and Neil Gaiman, to Kiersten White and Amanda Hocking. I read from around 11pm to 4am. Until my eyes do that really cool droopy thing where you can’t keep them open and you’re in danger of falling to sleep with the book in your hands. I love that feeling. It’s delicious. That’s how I fall asleep every night. My dreams are usually filled with possible scenarios of the book I’m currently writing, and I wake up full of ideas!

Book Description:
The year is 2017, and the Black Plague infection has swept across most of the United States, leaving death and chaos in its wake. Martial law is the rule rather than the exception, with outbreaks cropping up when they're least expected. Alyssa and her friends must not only battle outbreaks of the disease, but also find themselves pursued by government agents – men and women determined to track them down at any cost.
Fleeing north to the fabled Sanctuary, Alyssa, Jacob, DeAndre, Caitlyn, Risa and Luke face disturbing ordeals and terrible tragedy as they encounter unbelievable situations in their struggle to reach safety. Using their skills and wits in their fight to survive against ever worsening odds, they weather hardship, betrayal, and the ever-present specter of death as they flee north, all the while vowing to protect one another – and most of all their precious 5-year-old Luke, from a world gone mad.
Sanctuary, the second installment in the Mad World series, is a heart-rending adventure of astonishing revelations, tragic discoveries, agonizing separations and devastating losses that test these friends to their limits. With heart-pounding, edge-of-your-seat suspense at every turn, this is a story you will not be able to put down.

Hands on Me Excerpt
"Stop!" A man yelled.
The barrel of another gun met her inches from her face. She tensed, not from the gun, but from the familiar inflection in his voice. The position of both their weapons hid the man's face.
"Get in and lower your gun, or we'll both lose."
"Back up and lower yours, or you won't have a hand left." No one told her what to do, not ever again. The click of her cocking her weapon echoed around them.
He stepped back. "Get in and close the door."
With her gun still raised, she stepped and waited for her opponent to flinch first.
"Now." He moved a fraction of an inch.
She did the same, and with the silent acknowledgement they would both comply, they lowered their guns in unison. She almost shot herself in the foot at the sight of the man who greeted her. Before she made a mistake, she de-cocked her gun and shook her head. "Colin?" Her body betrayed her by trembling. Was this her punishment?
"Gwen." He shoved the gun in his waistband. "You're the one. I would have never guessed."
Think. She screamed at herself to remember her training, and not allow him to best her or distract her. She glanced around the room, giving her time to not look at him. Agents were supposed to be everyday people and blend in, but Colin Alexander stood out. From the moment she quite literally fell into his lap through a two-story ceiling three years ago, she wasn't sure why his agency chose such a standout. She supposed his combed-back black hair and golden eyes were some bizarre form of female torture.

Kim Carmichael began writing eight years ago when her love of happy endings inspired her to create her own. She has a weakness for bad boys and techno geeks, and married her own computer whiz after he proved he could keep all her gadgets running. When not writing, she can usually be found slathered in sunscreen trolling Los Angeles and helping top doctors build their practices.
