Excerpt:
Wow. Had Will pegged this perfectly or what? Stefan was determined not to hear her. What hurt Dani most was how his confidence had been shattered by a ten minute conversation in a silly rose garden. She didn’t even remember that she’d just been crying and the wetness on her cheeks surprised her when she wiped a piece of hair from her face. “But you come back. And when you do, you bring the best laughs and joy with you. You bring yourself.”“No, don’t do that. Don’t make me out to be some good guy, Dani. It’ll only hurt you in the end.” He paused and then stabbed her with a look sharper than steel. “You sucked my cock good last night, but that doesn’t mean you own me. I don’t owe you anything.”Her face flamed with sheer anger. She nearly spit the word asshole right back in his face but remembered Will’s warning. She could be just as stubborn. “Try again. I did suck your cock good and no, you don’t owe me anything. But you will hear me out. You know who else leaves their loved ones behind? How about soldiers?”“That’s different and you know it.”“How so? They stay gone for months. Thom gets one two-week break half-way through his year-long tour. He comes home one time, Stefan. In an entire year. How is that different than what you do?”Stefan looked like she’d shot him. He held his hands over his midsection and hunched over before he righted himself again.“I don’t know. It just is. I’m not laying my life on the line for anyone.”“But you’re putting it on hold so you can make all those people who love your music happy.” She wouldn’t stop now. “I bet if you were with someone, you’d find a way to see that person, no matter how far away you were. And I bet that person would be thankful, and…” Her eyes welled up with tears again. “So very happy for each moment, no matter how short or how much time passed between visits. Or how big of a mean jerk you could be sometimes.”The amount of time he stayed with his head bowed down killed Dani. Losing him in a couple days hadn’t hurt before because she realized she’d held out hope that things would work out between them. That her Superman would figure it out and fix it all. He’d invite his mom to Nashville and Dani too. All she needed was an invitation and his ability to wait two measly months for her to arrive.“Stefan, look at me.”She waited patiently.“I’ll just hurt you, Dani. Don’t you get it? I fucking love you and I’d hurt you.”Her breath tunneled around her lungs and her knees threatened to give out but she wouldn’t stop until she’d convinced him he would not do that. Not if he … not if he loved her. The way she loved him back.“Why do you keep saying that? Leaving, when it’s your job, doesn’t hurt the one you love.”Her mind was nearly useless after his use of the L word. Maybe he was trying to tell her he wouldn’t be faithful.“You don’t understand me, Dani.”“Then help me out here. Are you saying you’d sleep around on the road? Is that some inevitable part of you being Stefan Calderon, bass player?”Crap. He wasn’t answering her.“Fuck, I don’t know. Maybe. I’ve never been tested like that.”“What the hell do you mean?”Again he went silent. And this time he got up out of his stool and walked to the sink. As if they hadn’t just been in an industrial sized conversation, he reached up and pulled a glass from a cupboard and filled it with water. He guzzled the entire thing down then filled it up and walked back over to her. He set the glass down in front of her, nudging her hand which she realized was in a tight fist.“Fighting can’t be good for the baby. Dinner’s getting cold. Let’s eat. Then maybe we’ll talk more.”Maybe we’ll talk more? Who did he think he was? Ending their discussion like that. But her chest had tightened and she knew he was right when she took in a deep breath and felt the built up tension leave and her body relax back to normal. She hated that he was right. But if he thought she wouldn’t fight for him, he was dead wrong. She took the glass of water, emptying it then handed it back to him.“What did you get?”She could play nice while they ate. He loved her.Stefan brought their plates over. He sat down across from her and stabbed a peapod and a chunk of pink salmon, shaking his head as he bit the food from the fork and chewed. He stabbed another and another bite.Whoever had made this man, had gotten so many things so very right. No matter that all those things combined made her absolutely crazy. He loved her. He’d said so.She chewed, and tried not to cry smile.

Guest blog: Divine Judgment by JoAnna Grace

10 things I must have to write!
The title of this blog is actually a line of total crap. All a real writer needs to write is their preferred medium for getting the ideas out of their head, be it a pen and notepad or a computer, and the willingness to tell a story. But over time, I think all authors find little tips and tricks that help them in their process. Here are a few of mine!
1.     My laptop. When I was a teenager, my mother could never go wrong buying me pens and five subject notebooks for Christmas. I would use those suckers up as fast as she would buy them. Many of them I still have, containing stories that might get revived one day. Who knows? Now that I’m an adult (in age at least) I have a love affair with my laptop. I might not be able to play the piano because of hand-eye coordination issues, but by golly I can type fast! If my house ever catches on fire, the laptop must be saved.
2.     Binders. As much as I love my technology, I still love seeing things on paper. For some reason, it solidifies things in my mind. For every novel I write there is a 3-ring binder, some call it a bible. This notebook usually has my character profiles, setting pictures, notes and outlines, and a spreadsheet I call my book profile. A book profile contains information like who did the cover, who edited, who got review copies, the ISBNs, and buy links. Once I have a first draft, I print the entire novel and stick it in the binder so I can edit with an old school red pen.
3.     Reference books: Every writer has brain farts. You sit there snapping your fingers trying to come up with that one word which has checked out of your mind and gone on vacation. Having a thesaurus and a dictionary near by is so dang handy! I also use books like The Emotional Thesaurus, and other craft books.
4.     Spotify. I freaking LOVE Spotify. I should be their spokesperson. (Hmmm…) This music program has freed me from the insane downloads into my iTunes account. They have a free service, which is great, but I subscribe monthly. Even my husband admits it’s worth every penny and he doesn’t give a rat’s a$$ about music. For me, finding and creating playlists for each book, sometimes each character, is a must. Music helps me focus and center my thoughts. Yes, occasionally it’s distracting and I find myself dancing in my office instead of writing. But we all need a dance break, right?
5.     Nap time. Not for me, for my toddler. Since I’m a stay at home mom with a two year old, I live for nap times! That’s when I get to be author not mama. The key to balancing the two roles is to identify those precious moments when you can write and seize them. You don’t “find” time to write, you MAKE time to write. It’s a choice. When someone tells me they don’t have time to write, I want to say, “it’s obviously not that important to you”. If writing is a priority, turn off the television (that reality show sucks anyway), lock yourself in your bedroom if you have to, sit in your car during your lunch break, and find five blasted minutes to write a few words. It’s more than you had five minutes before.
6.     Nap time. Not for the toddler, but for me. There are days when I’ve been writing since 7am and it’s now 7pm. These are my binge days and nothing gets done. No laundry, no dishes, and the kids are lucky to be fed. Usually after a binge, I have to take time to rest, to call one of my girlfriends and have a conversation with a living breathing human being. Sometimes, I have to take a bloody nap! My mental health depends on it. After twenty to thirty minutes, I’m energized and ready to kick some butt.
7.     Smelly stuff. No, not garbage, ya weirdo. Candles or wax warmers work best. Scent is a powerful sense and can transport your mind places. Most of the time I have a scent associated with my books. My character, Avery, has a certain body wash associated with her. I just bought a wax scent that I’ll use for Hayden’s book. My husband says I have a super-sniffer, so scent is very important to me. Having that extra mental boost allows me to relax and channel a character or setting.
8.     Multiple places to plant my butt- or my feet. I like being able to move about my house when I’m writing. I write in my office, my bedroom, my dining room, my living room, on the front porch, on the back deck, and recently I added my treadmill to these locations. Thanks to my hubs, I can now walk and write at the same time. I haven’t fallen yet, so that’s cool. Variety is the key. Find places that offer comfort with little distraction.
9.     Distractions. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know what I just said. However, as I said in #3, every writer has brain farts. There are times when you need to take five, regroup your thoughts and try again. For these moments, I have various distractions. Mine are music, looking up house plans online, browsing for model photos (hot guys always help me reset the brain), or even playing with my kiddos. Allow yourself to shift your brain and you’ll find the answers you were seeking. <
10.  Persistence, Determination & Encouragement. These are three things every writer needs in their mental toolbox. Persistence: do you know how many times Harry Potter was rejected? Nuff said. Determination: My sweet Yankee friend, author Jennifer Probst, once told me that every book I publish is like playing the lottery. You never know which one might take off. But if you never take the chance, you’ll never win. Each time I start a book, each time I edit, each time I even conceive of a new idea, I’m thinking this could be the book that changes my life. I won’t give up or stop educating myself until then. Encouragement: we all need to surround ourselves with people that believe in us, and with things that give us a push when we need it. I have a corkboard called my happy wall. When I get an email from a fan, a letter from a friend, or a funny picture, it goes on the wall. These are the gems that help me battle bad reviews (because they’re a fact of life) or those moments when my confidence is shaken. I take a moment to focus on the beauty of this gift called writing and remember that this is my dream, my talent, and no one can offend me unless I allow them to.
Thanks for joining me today! I hope my craziness helps. Please look me up, drop me a line, or check out one of my books! www.authorjoannagrace.com

“I felt the lust, I felt the chills, I felt the desire and of course I felt the spookiness. This story is set in my favorite time EVER - Halloween! And I do have to say that Ms. Rhoads definitely has a flare for the very hot side all the while keeping my interest piqued. This story definitely has all the elements of a hot erotic, spooky Halloween, and a love tale that will have the hopeless romantic fall in love all over again.”~A Halloween to Remember reviewed by Cecile Smith Night Owl Reviews
“Renata is a saucy heroine who’s sexy, smart and totally self sufficient. With the to-the-point character driven plot, Renata made for an overall delightful read...Throw in an unexpected twist and loads of blazing sex, and the outcome boils on high for a gooey-warm ending. The Questioning Concubine was sizzling-smooth, eyeballs-meets-mind goodness. The writing flexes its wonderfully visual muscles while my mental senses happily quivered from the intake.
Humorous, spicy and sweet…definitely reading-time well spent.” ~Renata and The Questioning Concubine reviewed by Patrice F., Joyfully Reviewed

“Narrated with gutsy charm by Marissa, a young witch in training, this story begins with her outrage at finding Deirdre, the beautiful vampire who is training her, together with Jeff, Marissa's idiotic but well endowed ex-boyfriend. This story goes places that Marissa would never have anticipated, and she finds a new way of controlling her literally explosive orgasms.”~A Last Goodbye review from Goodreads

Seven Seeds of Summer by Chantal Gadoury

5 Fun Facts about Seven Seeds of Summer:
I don’t know about most readers, but I love learning about interesting things behind a story, whether it’s a movie or a book. (Behind the Scenes and Bloopers are my most favorite things to watch on a movie that I love!) So I decided to partake in the fun of giving some interesting and fun facts about Seven Seeds of Summer! I hope everyone enjoys!
·        #1: “Seven Seeds of Summer” was created in a Novel class hosted by Tom Bailey at Susquehanna University. Originally, I had presented a novel idea called, “The Dreamers,” which was a soul-shifting, paranormal romance that just didn’t seem to work as a novel. So during Spring Break, I went home and tried to re-think a “working” novel idea. I started to look at books that I really loved, and knew that I wanted to write a fairy-tale in a new way. I had always loved the story of Hades and Persephone and knew I wanted to do something with them. Hades and Persephone were actually the original characters, and each of them would go back and forth in Points of Views. It wasn’t until I started to think of a twist that the concept of Summer and Hades came to life – and the rest is history.
·        #2: I bombarded Robert(o) with pages upon pages of Seven Seeds of Summer. Honestly, without Rob, “Seven Seeds of Summer” would never be where it is. Without the help of the fantastic author, singer, movie-star: Shayne Leighton, who read and helped me do a run of edits, again, Hades wouldn’t be as amazing as he is now. (And I never would have discovered “The Fountain” score, which ultimately helped me write my novel.)                                                                                                          ·        #3: I had never had a pomegranate until after I wrote a few scenes. I actually searched and searched grocery stores, until I finally found one, a few years into writing, and tasted one.  It was a magical experience.
·        #4: Originally, Summer wasn’t going to remember anything about Persephone or Hades, until the very, very end of the book. I wanted Hades to sort of release the Persephone inside of her, but the struggle of the idea of suddenly losing Summer, into a character that mostly was only spoken of, but not developed, seemed a little unfair to our Summer. It was a challenge when writing Summer and Hades’ relationship when it came to the balance of Persephone Vs. Summer. Hades really wasn’t sure who he loved, and if he could love Summer for Summer. The conflict was very real in the writing process.
·        #5: I wanted to name Hades something else – like an everyday name. But it just never worked out that way. He wanted to be called simply “Hades.” That’s why Hades doesn’t have a human name. Seven Seeds of SummerChantal Gadoury

Excerpt Chapter Eleven: Seven Seeds of Summer

“Summer, this is only the beginning. The journey with me is far from over,” he said. I could hear the promise in his voice. I knew there was more. I knew that there was something more for me; I just didn’t understand it yet. I knew that there was still the journey of the underworld waiting for me— the gods and the souls. The stories that I thought were all just pretend. “When are you going to take me down to your world? You took me. You have me. What are you waiting for?”“I was waiting for you to recover,” he whispered. I heard him shift again in the chair and this time, I felt his hand on my wrist. His thumb was making light circles over my veins. “You’re almost healed completely, and that’s good. If I had taken you down there the way you were, you wouldn’t have stood the chance of survival. Where I live, death dominates. You would have died.” “And you wouldn’t have been able to do anything?”“I’m only the ruler. I’m to protect the dead, not determine who lives or dies. The Fates decide that.” “Why do you scare me?” I whispered after a long moment of silence. In his eyes I saw the truth, and saw the journey that he spoke of. There was much to be afraid of. I hadn’t meant to say it aloud, but it came out all the same. I saw his face more clearly, then. It was much closer than before. “I’m so scared, that I’m so drawn to you. I can’t help but want to be around you.” “Yes…” he whispered. I felt his hands pull on both of my arms, lowering me to my knees. I was tucked in between his strong legs. He was warm, and much more than just a dark shadow. He was a dark Prince. “Why have you done this to me?” I heard my voice shake, and tears started to fall down my cheeks. “You haven’t guessed already?” he asked with concern. I felt his hands on my face and his breath was on my lips. His fingers were cool and rough, yet soft and warm, gentle and familiar. I wanted him to never stop touching me, and the thought scared me. I had no control over my thoughts, or my body. I felt my hands creep up onto his shoulders; my fingers twisted themselves into his long, black hair. “Just tell me. Please tell me,” I begged. I needed to hear it. I needed to be sure that I wasn’t dreaming. He wasn’t a dream, and this wasn’t just a dream world that I was living in.“Summer, the pomegranates? The paintings you drew of me? You’re drawn to me; I mean, look around you! You’re in Greece! You’re in the very setting of your own Greek story!” “I know, I know!” Tears began to pour onto his fingers, and I tried to wipe them away. As I did, I felt him tip my chin up toward his face. I wanted this. I wanted this so badly. I wanted his lips on mine. I had dreamt about it, even before he had been real in front of me. My breath was asking to be kissed, and a moment later his lips crushed against mine. It was real. His hands were in my hair, and mine were tousled in his. He smelled like the beach, my beach, and it brought more tears to my eyes. He was my beach, my home, and my life. He was breathing air into me, giving me the will to do the unthinkable with him— to go beyond my human world, and enter his immortal one. He smelled like the waves, and the earth. A mixture of everything. I wanted to be consumed by him, live underneath his soft skin and exist through the crust of my old paints. He gently pushed me back, watching me as I struggled to keep my eyes open. “I don’t know how to make it any clearer to you.” His eyes were wide and serious, and I knew all the answers were in the kiss. I knew what he was trying to say. I knew what I needed to know. I just didn’t want to accept it. How could this be happening to me? Me, of all the people in the world, of all the girls who existed, he picked me. My lips felt empty and cold without his there. Now that I had a taste of him, I wanted more. I wanted to grab his shoulders and press his lips against mine again, and take the heat and the life he offered. “Do you need to sit on the bed?”“Yes,” I murmured quickly, pushing his chest away, trying to regain my mind, my balance, and my pulse as I sat on the coverlet. I felt the kiss flow through my body, sending shivers down my spine. The kiss has shaken me; caused me to feel as if I were falling into tiny pieces that would fit so perfectly in his hand. Did he know he was my first kiss? I felt his hand grab my wrist and he gently pushed me down onto the bed. I didn’t know what to say, and I waited for him to speak, but he reflected the same silence. “Why did you do that?” I whispered shakily, touching my lips with my finger tips and glanced at him. He stood silently in front of me. I could feel his dark gaze burning into my skin. I knew that whatever answer he was going to give me wouldn’t be the truth, or the answer that I wanted to hear. “I think you should go to bed now, Summer,” he whispered softly.

Guest Blog and Giveaway with Karen Swart Author of The Kasadya Hellhound Series

My top ten paranormal creatures - Karen Swart
Wow, this was a tricky list to combine. I love so many, that to place them in a top ten post was hectic. Well, here we go…
Berserkers – I really love berserkers, especially the novels I have read about them. They are the ultimate warrior that you don’t want to meet in a fight. And yes, the blue eyes make me swoonJ I also love the fact that they are Odin’s warrior, love Norse mythology.Werewolf – Protective, territorial and oh my, to die for. Novels with werewolves in them always have me turning the pages faster just to get a glimpse of the werewolf. Jacob totally did it for me J Yeah! Team Jacob!Dragons – If you have read Katie Macalister Dragon Series, you will know why I love them. Baltic was my favorite, freaking hilarious guy.Vampires - Of course this one will be on my list! I mean come on, Demitri from Archangel’s blade, Lothaire, Gabriel from The Dark Series and the list continues. Nope, sorry ladies but Edward didn’t do it for me. Fae – This would be the Fever Series from Karen Marie Moning’s fault. Yeah, I know Christian is a dark prince, but still oh my.Angels – Oh wow, there is also a few guys like Nalini Singh’s Guilt hunter Series and Gena Showalters Angels of The Dark Series, which will leave you drooling. Packed with beautiful wings, we also have the super angel’s laced with phenomenal bodies and to die for love.Demons – I think this would explain it all. The Lords of the Underworld and Demonica. Swooning again. I loved that for once, it’s not all evil in these series and we can see another side to demons.Dhampir- Just one word would do it – Dimitri.Gods –We have the ever famous Acheron from The dark Hunter Series, his book was the first to make me cry, it took me a week to read it. Freaking sad oneL.Witches – never ever mess with a witch. I love the magic part, but also the “I get totally piss off and curse you for eternity” part. A lot of novels have started to give witches a huge face lift, and they really needed it. They go from evil witch, to totally ass kicking witches.

And that’s my top ten paranormal creatures and the reasons why I love them.

Building Your Own Fantasy World Guest Blog and Giveaway with SD Grady

We all love a good tale of Once Upon a Time.  We are asked to put aside our daily trials and for a short time accept that in another place and time there was a damsel in distress who needed her knight in shining armor to come along and save her day.  But whether we pick up our worn copy of Cinderella or the latest book in the Game of Thrones series, we know one thing: we have entered into the world of fantasy.
What makes it a fantasy world, after all?  What is it that the author did differently when crafting a tale in the fictitious land of Rushton vs. entering the very real time of medieval France?  How is it a successful trip into the land of Make Believe?
Well, firstly there must be research.  Believe it or not, we can't simply throw all the laws of physics out the window when scripting a fantasy world, unless a reason is given for the deviation of nature. There must be something that is so familiar to the reader that they can suspend their disbelief in Never-never land.  If you're going to have flaming dragons, then it is still a good idea to have the rooster crow.  In a less fantastical world--like in my latest tale "The King's Mistress"--gowns and the manners of society are crafted such the reader can identify the familiar, leaving enough room for the map of the Seven Kingdoms and its political landscape to come to life.
Okay, now that we've researched which social and physical elements of our land that will remain the same as the real world, we're ready for the first building blocks of what will make this place different from everywhere else.  Sometimes it is the color of the sky, due to an unusual element found in the atmosphere. On occasion characters are known to possess a sixth or seventh sense, elevating them into the world of the surreal.  At other times, mankind skipped a step in the technological ladder creating the illusion of steam punk, instead of a world filled with computers.
And then once in a while, all it takes for that sense of other-worldiness to take hold is for the fantasy world to be placed in a time period so far in our past, it remains dreamlike to us.  When was the last time you picked up a child's fairy tale and read it, completely believing it all happened right next door only yesterday?  You didn't, because the costumes, roles in life and tasks asked of the characters have become foreign to us over time; even though when the story was first told it was actually a contemporary tale. What remains constant in these children's tales is the moral lesson included. That is the familiar point that continues to ring true with fantasy readers over the centuries.
The next time you pick up a book--whether it be a contemporary tale of international espionage or even a society magazine--ask yourself, what makes the world contained within these pages "real"? Is it simply knowing the roads and cars actually exist, that the social structures are those you interact with on a daily basis?  If so, then spend a moment considering what it would take to turn such stories into ones of pure fantasy.

So simple. And then again, so complicated.

Excerpt:
The phantom caress of Freddie's touch conjured long buried memories.  Ah, sweet agony. Exuberant in their youth, she and Freddie had explored all the possible sexual positions together.  And now...She fought against a tear. That was all in the past. Gone. She closed her eyes so she might ignore the overly familiar oil landscape hung over her bed and the other tiny details that recalled the sweet and torrid memories.  Her finger caught at a lace ribbon on the vanity top and pulled it across the polished wood surface.  Her favorite clock ticked.  Time passed.  When would the hole in her heart heal?  Anger at her weakness surged.  She grabbed and held onto it."Stop being morbid, Beth.  You've got a job to do."  Her voice echoed in the vaulted room.A knock sounded from the outer chamber.  She still had an hour before she expected her first guest.  The tweeny scurried to answer it."She's not quite decent, sir."Bethina grinned.  Leave it to the young ones to state the truth.  She stood and turned to welcome whoever it might be, calling out, "Let them in, Laurel.  I'm as decent as I'm going to get."  It took but a few steps to enter the sitting room. The girl curtsied and opened the door wider.  Sir Arthur stood in the hall, his cap in his hand and eyes wide as he noticed the extravagance of her chamber. Once again, that phantom emotion sprang to life. She couldn't possibly take another lover. Never. Action would help to stifle her misgivings."Come. Come." She gestured him into the room.  "It's been far too long since these rooms saw a gentleman not bent on nefarious deeds."The man blushed, his grey eyes darkened.  "You think me harmless, Lady Godwin?""Hah!"  She strode to the chaise, settled down and reached for the bell.  The tweeny reappeared.  "What would you like to drink, sir?"Dressed in a suit of black silk from head to foot, the diplomat evoked an aura of quiet power.  He had not moved since pausing inside her threshold.  "I like to keep my wits when dining with my enemies and my friends."Bethina pressed her lips together before ordering, "Small ale for two."He remained still, his gaze boring into hers.  "Do you possess a more modest gown, Lady Godwin?"She chuckled and leaned forward just a touch.  "Unlike you, Sir Arthur, it is not to my advantage to fade into background.  A low cut bodice is far more effective in eliciting confidences than sitting near silent in a corner with a shawl up to my chin."  Even as she grinned, her melancholy vanished. Thank goodness she had somebody to match wits with.He coughed and appeared to decide she was not about to eat him for lunch.  He stretched his long legs out as he settled in the high-backed chair opposite her perch. He continued to study her. What did he want? "Now, why the early arrival for supper?"He turned his attention to the appointments of the chamber; the heavy furniture, damask curtains, oil paintings.  Every feminine furbelow Trudy could gather dotted all possible surfaces.  Lace, china, clocks, jewelry.  It appeared as the room of a very wealthy lady of the nobility. No guest could possibly guess at her sordid past. "Sir Arthur?""Hmm?  Oh, yes.  Sorry. I wondered if you required any more information before we go in for supper this evening?""No, I think not.  Sometimes it is better to make your own judgments, true?"He rubbed his palms together for a moment.  "I would have to agree with that."So, he was avoiding speaking his mind. Really, now was not the time to keep secrets from her.Laurel appeared with their drinks, served and withdrew.Perhaps if she taunted him.Bethina ran one finger along the rim of her glass, collecting the drop of moisture sitting there and then licked it dry. "You really wanted to see what I had chosen to wear.  Admit it.  What would the famed mistress of King Frederyk do upon her return to court?" She sipped at her ale and decided the castle boasted a fine master brewer."Yes.  I am taking a huge risk here.  Should we misstep, I shall be back in the desert of Uiel and you in that house on the river.""But you forget, Sir Arthur."  She placed her glass on the small table at her right and drew a heart on the tabletop from the glass's condensation.  "Not once in two decades was I dismissed from court.  I am good at this."He smiled and relaxed in his seat.  "As am I." She met his steady gaze.  Good.  His defenses were coming down. She took a deep breath, her breasts pressing against her tight bodice.  His grey eyes widened. He swallowed. She followed his Adam's apple down his muscled neck and grinned in appreciation at his wide shoulders.  The years had been kind to him.  The blood beat in her ears .  Her body stirred. And suddenly it became clear. He desired her.  As much as she wanted him."I didn't come here for a flirtation." Her protest sounded gravelly. His cheeks blazed with color.  "I did not invite you for such."She waited, as he appeared to want to say more.  In the end, they simply shared a nod each understood. The heat and lust would wait, for now.  "I am here for Freddie's niece.  She needs me."He nodded. "Yes, she does.  I think, though, that I will enjoy working alongside you.""Just working?"The room filled with unspoken words.  Heat. Hushed sighs beneath covers.

Book Description:
Social worker Tam Kerish can’t keep her cool professionalism when steamy client Mr. Burns kindles a desire for more than a client-therapist relationship—so she drops him. However, they discover she’s the talisman to which Burns, an immortal djinn, has been bound since the days of King Solomon…and that makes it difficult.
Ethical guidelines are unequivocal when it comes to personal relationships with clients. However, the djinn has a thawing effect on the usually non-emotive Tam, who begins to feel true emotion whenever he is near. Tam has to make a difficult choice: to stay on the outside, forever looking in…or to turn her back on her entire world, just for the chance to finally experience what it means to fall in love.

Cover Reveal Under His Touch by Jeffe Kennedy

Under His TouchFalling UnderBook 2Jeffe Kennedy

Amber Dolors knows better than to get involved with her boss. Devastatingly handsome in his sharp suits, sexy beyond belief, he possesses an air of command that fuels her darkest fantasies. But being the assistant to his assistant’s assistant represents an opportunity golden enough to outweigh other considerations. Even if his way of giving orders and demanding her best performance gives her delicious warm shivers inside.
Alexander Knight prides himself on his integrity and self-discipline. After all, he hasn’t risen to the position he enjoys by indulging his whims over ambition. He also isn’t blind. He’s certainly noticed his sharp, young assistant is hot as hell. His self-imposed sexual hermitage doesn’t stop him from watching her. And fantasizing.
The day Alec’s cool reserve cracks and Amber catches a glimpse of something simmering beneath his apparent indifference is the day everything between them changes. Alec gives her what she’s been looking for sexually—as masterful in the bedroom as he is in the boardroom. But what will it take to soothe his wounded soul?

Guest Blog and Giveaway Borealis Ardor by Kay Phoenix

Unusual Paranormal ElementsOne of the best parts about writing a paranormal story is creating the world in which it occurs.  Paranormal romances can take place in the contemporary world, a historical setting, or even in a futuristic post-apocalyptic world.  Creating the world is half the fun for me!My paranormal romances are set in the contemporary world, because I like points of reference that give a shot of believability to my stories.  I feel that the realism is what brings the reader in, especially if they can identify with the characters.  As far as unusual paranormal elements, I’d say that they are as varied as the authors.  If there really were vampires, werewolves and shifters walking the earth, we would have scientific studies that would reveal all their nuances.  But, there aren’t (are there?).  So, we authors have to rely on our imaginations, works of those who have gone before, and add a touch of science to blend up a concoction that fits our version of these creatures.  And, that’s fun.  Of course, there are always people who are sticklers for certain “rules” that have been set forth in the past, perhaps by Hollywood, but if your story of origin is believable then it becomes your lore.  If vampires sparkle in your world, so be it.              The unusual aspect about my vampires, if you want to call it that, is that they can still eat regular food as long as their nutritional requirement for the day has been satisfied.  In order to get their “daily requirement” they can either feed on a willing human, take a serum that was developed for them (that lasts a few days), or kill.  If a vampire doesn’t get their requirement for an extended period of time, they will devolve into a demonic, crazed creature.              Thank you for hosting me and for providing this interesting topic for discussion.  Let me know your thoughts on what is unusual and what is not.

Book Description:
Lauren Madison’s life started unraveling at a speed too fast for her to keep up with. Every truth she had taken for granted was torn away, and the pieces that were left painted no clear pictures at all…only more confusion.
The only pillar of strength in her fragile life was David Wagner, her bodyguard who was placed in witness protection. But, what had he seen that day, and why couldn’t she remember?
She had no choice but to run. And if her life was threatened again, who would be there to protect her?
Available at Amazon

Excerpt:
“You shouldn’t be here, Lauren.  Leave quickly.” The voice stopped me in my tracks.  It was David’s voice, in my head.  But, I shrugged it off and walked forward until I saw the new stone and the rectangle of earth in front of it that had noticeably less pine needles than the surrounding area.
I knelt beside it.
“David Alan Wagner.  Beloved Son, Brother and Friend.”  The lines of the letters were etched deep and black, contrasting heavily against the light grey stone.  I gently lay the roses down and traced the letters with my finger.  There was a cross carved below the words.  I ran my hand along the entire edge of the top of the stone, feeling the rough edges in contrast to the freshly polished front and back.  I wondered how long the stone had been there.  Dad assured me he had taken care of the funeral expenses, and he must have made sure there was a rush order on the headstone.  There was a fresh bouquet of white roses lying at the base of the stone and it made me feel deeply saddened for his family, as well as for him.  As much as dad irritated the living hell out of me with his overprotective gestures, if I had to disappear forever and have him think I was dead, it would break my heart.  After we lost mom, we were all the family we had.
I loved David with my whole heart.  Even though we had only been together for two of the six months that he was assigned to me, I knew that he was the “one”.  I just knew it.  There was no explanation.  And, I was the “one” for him as well.  But, now he was gone, and it was unlikely that I would see him again, at least not any time soon.
I reached up to trace the “D” again and saw a strange light flash across the polished surface of the stone, which I realized with horror to be a set of headlights.
Who would be coming to a graveyard at this hour? Besides me of course? Teenagers with a Ouija board and bottle of Strawberry Hill wine in tow, perhaps?
I could take no chances.  I could have been followed.
