Recipe- Cherry Cordial’s Chocolate Covered Brownie Bombs

Hello, humans. Cherry Cordial here. Former vampire stripper currently residing on the fourth planet from the sun, aka, Mars.
Wait. What? Vampires on Mars? When did that happen? Well, if you must know then you’ll have to check out my stories, written by the human author who does my bidding, Casey Wyatt.
Because there isn’t enough space to regale you with my adventures, do check out the details at the end of the post.
Now, we have to talk about something. With Valentine’s Day around the corner, I have a recipe and what’s better than cherries and chocolate?
I may be living on Mars with no access to these ingredients, but you humans don’t have that problem. Lucky you.
So, without further ado, I present:


Cherry Cordial’s Chocolate Covered Brownie Bombs
Warning: These are addictive, easy to eat and will disappear in no time. So, I’ve heard.
What you need:
·       1 pan of brownies made ahead of time and cooled.  The human used Duncan Hines family size (13 x 9). Use any brownie mix you like- DO NOT overbake them.·       1 tub of chocolate frosting·       1 bag of frozen Bing Cherries, thawed and patted dry (or Maraschino work too, also patted dry)·       2 bags of chocolate chips (or chocolate candy melts). If you make a smaller batch of brownies, then 1 bag should work.

Now it’s time to get messy.
1.     Crumble the brownies into a large bowl. Then add about half to three quarters of the chocolate frosting and work it into the crumbled brownies. Add more frosting if it’s too dry. The idea is to use enough to form balls that hold together.
2.     Roll about a tablespoon of the mixture into balls. Poke a hole, insert a cherry then seal it inside with the brownie mix.
3.     Place the balls onto a sheet pan lined with parchment or wax paper, then freeze them about 20 minutes.
4.     Next, melt the chocolate until smooth. The human tells me she used the microwave and a bit of coconut oil.
5.     When the 20 minutes is up, dip each ball into the chocolate until coated. Let the excess chocolate drip off, then place on a sheet of wax or parchment paper.
6.     Once all the bombs are coated with chocolate, put the pan in the fridge until ready to eat. When ready to serve, let them sit for a bit at room temperature before serving them.

Have I displeased you?” said the man whose wrist I was about to shatter. Stunning blue-gray eyes. Dark stubble lined his chiseled jawline. His dark hair was mussed and complimented his swarthy skin tone. Dried blood smeared his neck. A red trail led to puncture marks.The other man’s brown muscled chest rose and fell in rhythmic sleep. His body was fully exposed on the white sheet. Puncture marks lined his neck, his groin and his very erect penis.My cheeks heated like a furnace. Clearly, we’d had a good time.“No. Leave me. Both of you go to your rooms.” I dropped his wrist. The man woke his drowsing companion, and they left as I’d commanded. Damn. I wished I could get the other men in my life to be so compliant.Other men? There were other people important to me. Why couldn’t I remember them?I’d kill Jonathan if he was messing with my mind again.But yet... that idea didn’t feel right.Somewhere in a dead corner of my memory, this moment seemed familiar. Jonathan, sensing my unhappiness with our “arrangement,” had spent the early years of our relationship attempting to please me. This must have been my slut phase, where we’d bring home gorgeous men and I would feast and fuck while he watched. I enjoyed knowing it bothered him that I wouldn’t sleep with him. Only the mortals that we found in gaming dens, brothels, even at society events. The only other thing I would take from Jonathan besides his money was his blood, and only out of necessity.Fucking hell. Ian’s go-to phrase—I remembered him now—helped resurface the reason why I was reliving this not-so-proud moment in my past.The plague. The Lost Ship. The time stream. My daughter.Oh, dear God. I hoped she was safe.“Good morning, my pet.” Jonathan read a page of the morning newspaper while sipping tea from a dainty cup. He sat on the balcony situated outside my bedroom. From his vantage point, he could view the bed and my doings in Technicolor glory.My heart lurched at the sight of his arrogant beauty. I had forgotten how full of life he’d been, especially in this time period. And, oh, how handsome he was. His raven hair glossy with blue highlights sparkled in the early morning sunshine. The strong line of his jaw and perfect Roman nose coupled with full lips made it hard not to stare at him. He hadn’t yet acquired the weariness that having a Family would place on him.In later years, after much bitterness between us, I no longer saw him anymore. The beauty was tarnished, and we became as passionate as two coworkers passing the time until their shift ended. He had become someone I had to endure rather than enjoy. Not that I ever really “enjoyed” him because of the circumstances surrounding our sham marriage.The horrid image of his death, when he’d knelt, offering Thalia his head, shattered the peaceful moment. With a plaintive look, he commanded that I accept his fate and mine. We both knew that Thalia, the dead queen’s heir apparent, was a vindictive bitch. She blamed me for her mother’s death and Jonathan refused to bow down to her. So, he did what he always did. He protected his Family by sacrificing himself so we could escape. In his last moments, regret had filled his eyes. The wish that we could have been different together had been silenced forever.Seeing Jonathan again and remembering was worse than reopening a wound and rubbing salt in it with a lemon juice chaser. If only I could apologize to him for how awful I’d been. I hadn’t been blameless in wrecking our relationship. I could have tried harder to accept my fate instead of punishing him at every turn.The temptation to blurt out the truth bubbled inside, until I had to force myself to look away from him. Would this Jonathan be willing to help me? Or would he use my current predicament to his advantage? No. I couldn’t, wouldn’t chance it. Not with the entire colony’s lives hanging in the balance.Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve. Sew it on a patch and you’d have my life’s motto.Yup. But now, with a century of wisdom tucked under my belt, instead of relishing in his annoyance, I realized something. He was sad. With himself or me, I wasn’t sure. And it didn’t matter. I had a mission to accomplish. A future to save.

The dwarf took a swig of his fiery drink, then coughed while pounding his chest, his nose and cheeks turning even redder. Alec wondered why Grim drank that poison if it made him sick, but then he was reminded of his father, always with a tankard in hand. Mother had said that his father drank to forget the past. Perhaps Grim had memories he was trying to bury, too.             Grim cleared his throat before capping the flask and slipping it back inside his vest. “Aye, there is truth in that, for then the sea witch will have all the power.”             Gorpat snorted, then her other eye flew open. Her brow drew down, the heavy folds nearly falling over her eyes. “Don’t say ‘witch,’ Dada.”             The dwarf looked over his shoulder at his giant daughter’s scrunched features. “Sorry, my pearl.” He turned back to Alec, pulling a cloth out of his vest and wiping glistening drops of sweat off his brow. “Her ma don’t like me speaking of the demon fish so.”             “Demon fish?” Alec was confused. Was he speaking of the ice goddess’s sea-dwelling sister?            Grim solemnly nodded. “The torso of a beautiful maiden, the tail of a fish, but the heart of a serpent.”             Alec rubbed his chin, sharing a puzzled look with Des. “You are speaking of the sea goddess, Eris?”            The dwarf frowned. “Aye, ’tis the same bitch,” he mumbled, casting a wary glance over his shoulder.             The giant’s eyes nearly crossed as she frowned at her father.            “I’d no idea she had a fish’s tail. Is she a siren?” As far as Alec knew, the ice goddess Madhea had no tail, though his brother had told him she had wings that buzzed angrily like demonic little pixies. How strange her sister would be so different.             “Nay, she is no siren.” The dwarf shook his head, snickering. “The sirens are angels in comparison.”             He snorted. “I find that hard to believe.” Alec had heard too many tales of sirens luring ships to the rocks and then baring rows of shark-like jagged teeth and feasting upon shipwrecked sailors as they screamed for mercy.                 The dwarf’s eyes hardened. “Then let us hope you never meet Eris and find out for yerself.”             “Sing the song, Dada,” the giant pleaded, nearly knocking Alec back with a wave of her hot breath.              Grim looked over his shoulder at the girl, shaking his head. “Nay, my pearl. ’Tis too sad.”             “Sing, Dada. Pur-lease.”              He flashed her one more doleful look before heaving a resigned sigh. “Very well.” He cleared his throat, straightened his shoulders, and began with a soft hum.             Alec had to strain to hear at first, but then Grim’s voice grew so deep and strong, it filled Alec’s bones with the reverberations of a snow bear’s roar.              “Goddess of ash and sea.” The dwarf’s tone was so rich and pure, Alec’s heart nearly broke from the beauty of it. “Please return my child to me. Though ’tis four score since she wandered this shore, my spirit doth cry Annalie…  Annalie… Annalie.”            Alec stared at the dwarf through the campfire’s dancing flames, struck dumb for a long moment before he realized his blurred vision was not from the smoke or fiery drink, but from his own sheen of tears. He looked at Des, who was drying his eyes as well.             Alec didn’t know if Grimley’s beautiful voice or the song’s sad story had stirred these emotions, but sadness soon turned to fear, an icy tendril coiling around his spine like a serpent threatening to choke his last thread of sanity. Realization soured his gut. “Eris steals children?”        
            Grim leveled Alec with a sinister glare, the reflection of the fire dancing in his haunted expression. “Laddie, the witch takes anything she damn well pleases.”

About the Author:
Jonathan Doyle is a screenwriter and novelist based in Los Angeles with his large collection of books and his trusty DVR. A native of Phoenix AZ, Jonathan grew up in Southern California and is a graduate of Loyola Marymount University with a degree in Psychology, but still can’t overcome his fear of freeway overpasses.
