Sunday Snog: plump with desire...

Hey...he kisses her wrist. Don't judge me. (I chose this excerpt because it is just plump with desire. And who can resist that?)It's Sunday Snog time and I'm here with just a tiny little taste of my soon-to-be-released The Accidental Cougar! I'm so excited for this book I can hardly stand myself. It's out April 25th from Excessica. Happy Sunday...For more Sunday Snogs visit Victoria Blisse's site

“I didn’t say yes,” I whispered.“You didn’t say no,” he said, touching my hand but only briefly.“Why?” I asked. Because I simply had to know.He shrugged, coming around to stand in front of me again. His jeans were low on his hips. Not too tight, not too loose. And God, how I wanted to see them off him. “Because I want to see you. I want to touch you. Smell you. Kiss you…”He was mesmerizing. I felt hypnotized. The snake to his charmer. The nail to his magnet. The dog to his whistle. The last fleeting thought made me laugh.“That’s funny?” he asked, cocking his head. But he seemed amused, not offended.“No.” I shook my head. “My own panicked thoughts are amusing.”“Come on. I swear to you. No sex. Think of it as an appetizer. In fact,” he wound his fingers through mine and heat seared along my skin. It was like being burned in the most luscious and sensual way. “I promise you that if—no, when—you want that sex you’re so dead set against, I won’t let you. I will, in fact, turn you down.”Now I was laughing in earnest. “Oh, yeah?”He turned my hand in his and kissed the underside of my wrist. The skin there was fragile and sensitive and the pressure of his lips was nearly overwhelming. Just talking to him, watching his body language and hearing his voice, had me panting slightly. Wanting a kiss. Wanting him to touch me. Christ, wanting so much more and then some.

Qs, As and Quirky Genius...

Every time I think I've plumbed the depths (sounds dirty, yes?) of Alison Tyler's quirky genius she surprises me. We did a Q&A for my new novel Lost in You. She Q-ed, I A-ed, and what we ended up with was one of the most delightful blog tour spots I've ever done.

Ta and da! Go check it out if you get a moment . I am totally stealing her format. Good thing I already told her that :)

From NOTHING BUT THE BOOTS by Sommer Marsden

Cat realized she was holding her breath. Her kimono had gaped open a bit and she watched his gaze travel over her outline. His eyes on her was as tangible as a touch and a stroke. She shifted and her kimono gaped.
“Admit what?” she said, a bit too fast.
“I only had eyes for you that night.”
“And now your eyes are on me again,” she laughed, feeling her heart bang crazily.
“Because you’re standing in the sun and I can see right through that robe,” he admitted.
“Oh … God. I’m sorry!” she blurted.
“I don’t mind,’ he said and blushed.
Cat cleared her throat. “Ready for your first assignment?”
“I am.”
“Help me get out of this damn boot.”
Greg chuckled lowly and her stomach sizzled with the sound. She went to the bed and sat down. She put her leg up, her calf muscle standing out and her skin flushed with her arousal. “Ready?” he asked.
Cat nodded and was surprised – to the point of jumping a bit – when he first took his hand and ran it down her leg from her knee, over her calf, to the place where that damnable boot remained stuck. His fingers curled slowly into the lip and he caught the purple fake-fabric-from-hell (as she now thought of it) and he tugged gently, inching the boot down, a bit here, a bit there.
She tried to hold the robe closed and not seem turned on. She was failing. Her body was tensing with the effort of acting as if this was just no big deal.
“You have to relax,” he whispered, giving her the smile that had so captivated her at that singles event. He’d been so handsome and mysterious she’d even considered attending other parties to try and catch another glimpse of him. She hadn’t though, figuring someone as cute as him would have snagged a girl by now.
“Relax,” he said again.
“I’m trying!” she blurted.
When he bent his head and kissed the inside of her knee her whole body seemed to sigh with pleasure. Her mouth popped open in surprise and she shivered.
“It will make this all easier.”
“OK.”
He inched and wiggled and pulled and she-finally, finally! – felt the boot sliding grudgingly down her leg.
“You have very nice legs,” he said, touching her muscle.
It jumped and fluttered and so did she. “Thank you. God, don’t touch me,” she sighed.
He laughed. “I’m sorry. Am I fired?”
“Nope.”
“Am I hurting you?”
“Far from it.”
Greg went still and his cool appraising eyes met hers. “Then what?”
She shook her head. He tugged.
“What if I said please? Would you tell me then?”
He was almost to her ankle and suddenly she was afraid of when the boot did come off. “Nope.”
“Please?” he said anyway.
“You’re turning me on,” she sighed. “But then you knew that, didn’t you?”

blurb:

An erotic short story by bestselling author Sommer Marsden.
Full figured fashion buyer Cat gets in a sticky situation the day her new assistant is set to arrive. So what will handsome, well-mannered Greg think when he finds his new boss in one purple boot, a kimono and nothing else? Not what Cat's expecting him to think. Not at all.

I am a terrible "book parent" or...a NSFW excerpt of my new book Lost in You!

Lost in You came out during my birthday writerversary extravaganza thing. I have yet to put up a proper snippet. It's been a hell of a week but I'm home today, no running to be done, and I figured it was long overdue.

As penance for waiting so long I've made sure to put up an extra spicy, truly NSFW section from LIY for your perusal. It's been doing pretty well on Amazon US and UK and is getting some lovely reviews on both those sites as well as on Goodreads. *cough* Not that I'm stalking it or anything...

Anyway, here we go. Enough jabbering. Here's a blurb, that excerpt I promised and the buy links that are currently available.

Happy Friday! My T25 program came today so I intend to spend the next three days eating all the food and drinking all the wine. Don't bother me unless it's an emergency ;)

XOXO

Blurb:

Love is Priceless
Trapped inside a luxury mall during a violent storm, small town girl, Clover Brite, is thrust into the arms of international playboy Dorian Martin. Lighting strikes inside the building as well as outside…

Clover is the site manager for the renovation of the Baltimore Rotunda and first meets the owner, Dorian, when the 'storm of the century' traps the two of them inside the luxury mall. Upscale stores surround them and all are available at the end of Dorian's keyring, and though money doesn't impress her much, they begin to fall for each other.

Too aware of the differences between them and struggling with angst from her childhood, Clover flees back to her small town world. Dorian follows in hot pursuit. But will Clover realise that what happened that stormy night could lead to a future?

Excerpt:

I kissed him frantically. His forehead, his cheeks, his lips. He worked my sweater up over my belly and leaned to kiss me there. The heat of his mouth on my somewhat chilled skin was electric. Dorian dropped small gentle kisses along my skin, travelling higher until tremors hit me again but for an entirely different reason. His mouth closed over my nipple and a lusty sigh slipped out of me. I was wet. That fast. Very wet, wetter than I remembered being from something as simple as strategically placed kisses.

‘Do you think I’m a heel?’ He dragged his tongue from my left breast to my right. His free hand was warm against my waist where he simply held me.

‘Do people even say “heel” any more?’

He chuckled. I forgot to laugh when his mouth closed possessively over my right nipple. Dorian sucked and I felt that drawing, tugging sensation all the way to the centre of me.

He stroked the skin above my newly pilfered jeans and I had a moment when I simply prayed he’d slip his hand further down. Beneath the waistband. To find that wetness I’d become so aware of.

‘No, people don’t. I spent too much time listening to my mother and grandmother talk.’ He moved up to kiss me on the mouth again. Still touching me with strong, sure fingers as he thrust his tongue against mine once more.

‘You spend a lot of time around women.’ I touched his dark hair. I really touched it, sifted my fingers through it and stroked it as I kissed him back. I wanted to touch him everywhere now that this had started.

The lights flickered like an old movie stuttering. For the first time I didn’t care. If we lost power, I’d just keep kissing him. Just keep touching him.

‘Not like you. None of the women I’ve been around are even remotely like you.’ He moved to pull the sweater over my head and without even missing a beat, I raised my arms for him to do so. ‘You really trust me, don’t you?’

It was hard to read his gaze. I touched his jaw, nodded. ‘Yes. Does that bother you?’

‘No. It humbles me.’ The sweater came off and I was bare beneath. My poor sodden cami lay abandoned by the front door of the building. His grin went right to my belly, making me feel as if I were falling.

‘I’m going to shut up now,’ I said.

‘Me too.’ Dorian pulled his T-shirt over his head and looked down at me. ‘I feel like there’s a casting-couch joke in here somewhere.’

I touched his bottom lip and his tongue darted out to touch my skin. ‘I thought we weren’t talking.’

‘Sorry. I do tend to break rules.’ Another grin that felt like a flash-fire along my skin. How a simple smile could shut my brain down that way was new to me.

I ran my hand along the hard evidence of his arousal. My fingers curled round the ridge of his erection and he let his eyes drift shut and sighed. But then he snagged my wrist and pinned it down, pressing himself to me, kissing my throat so my nipples turned to hard knots of flesh. His chest was warm against my breasts and he moved his body over mine, pinning me there. Dorian rocked his hips back and forth against me, his cock riding the split of my sex. The pressure and friction were breathtaking.

If this was what the foreplay felt like, I wasn’t sure I’d survive the sex itself. But I was eager to find out.

The Importance of Pie
Hey, y’all!
First, let me say EEEE! I’m on Sommer’s blog!
Okay, now that that’s all over. ;-)  I’m so tickled about my upcoming release from Dreamspinner Press, called Terms of Release. They’re a new publisher for me, and I wrote a slice of life sort of novel about Sage, a cowboy who made a terrible mistake as a teenager, and paid his debt to society, and Win, a sheriff’s deputy who doesn’t think people should hate Sage for what happened when he was a kid.
One of the things I explore in Terms of Release is how someone who’s led a very regimented sort of life needs routine. Sage, once he begins to branch out a tiny bit, goes to a diner run by bikers Wilma and Bulldog, and has a cup of coffee and pie a couple times a week.
Never seems to matter what sort of pie. Banana cream, chocolate, pecan. Just give Sage a piece of pie and a good book to read, and he’s a happy man.
Pie is important to Sage. Not just because it’s part of his routine, but because it speaks to the child in him, to the innocent kid he was when he left Texas for California, and to the rare joy he experienced after that, during those holiday meals where a piece of bad pie from a prison cafeteria was the one thing a man looked forward to all year.
Not that Sage would be able to articulate any of that. He’s just a cowboy, and what he knows is what he knows.
Me, though, I know how important pie can be.
Here’s one of my favorites:
Best Ever Gluten Free Coconut PieIngredients:·         3 eggs, beaten·         1 1/2 cups sugar·         1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted·         4 teaspoons fresh lemon juice·         1 teaspoon vanilla·         1 1/3 cups grated coconut (3 ounce can)·         pinch salt·         1 gluten free unbaked pie pastry, 9-inch, Whole Foods has a good onePreparation:Preheat oven to 350°. Combine eggs, sugar, butter, lemon juice, vanilla, and salt; mix well. Stir in coconut; pour into pie shell and bake for 30 minutes. Shield the crust edge with a pie shield ring or fashion one with aluminum foil and place over edge. Bake for 10 to 20 minutes longer, until set and no longer jiggly.
As the pie bakes, a golden topping forms on the surface.
Chill thoroughly before serving. The pie will be gooey if served at room temperature. Serves 6.
The Terms of Release is releasing March 24, 2014 from Dreamspinner Press and I’m proud enough to bust.
Official Blurb:
They say a man can always come home. So after doing hard time, Sage Redding heads to his family’s northeast Texas ranch to help his ailing daddy with the cutting horses.

Adam (Win) Winchester is a county deputy and the cousin of one of the men killed in the incident that sent Sage to prison for almost a decade. While Win's uncles, Jim and Teddy, are determined to make Sage and the entire Redding family pay for their loss, Win just figures Sage has paid his dues and maybe needs a friend. Maybe he needs more than a friend. In fact, Win’s counting on it.

No one’s denying Sage is an ex-con who went to prison for manslaughter. Regardless of the love he has for his father, he’s returned knowing things will likely go badly for him. Maybe a man can always come home, but he may not be able to stay.

Day 28 brings a birthday wish, a grateful thank you and...of course, a WINNER!

[There's a very important bit at the end if you are NOT my grand prize winner so read, read, read all the way down!]

Good morning, internet. First, I'd like to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! to the man. He's not up yet, but I'm saying it anyway. Let's hope his Sleeping Beauty impression yesterday was just him prepping himself to have a great day today (he slept like 20 hours!).

Secondly, thank you, thank you, thank you to all the wonderful authors who participated in my 28 day writing birthday/anniversary party. They were amazing and super and generous and I am just humbled at how quickly they all signed on and the work they put in.

Thirdly, as for yesterday's winners of Brien's books: As Long As You're Mine goes to melonhead and Can't Make You Love Me  goes to sammi. Ta and da. I'll be in touch soon!

And now...the big one...the one you've been waiting for. The grand prize winner of the $50 Amazon gift card goes to...Jade A. Waters! And the slip I pulled from that huge goblet of papers (the level was to the top, they got smushed down with the swirling) says "FB" which means it was a Facebook share. So, yay to you, Jade! I'll be in touch.

NOW IF YOU DIDN'T WIN...don't despair. I have a special guest tomorrow. BA Tortuga is here to celebrate her most recent book and she's got a nifty prize to give away. So come back tomorrow and you'll have another shot at an Amazon gift card. Look at that! The universe has smiled  on us. After 28 days...ANOTHER prize. Nifty!

Thank you, thank you, everyone for playing along. You made my writer-person-birthday-versary fun and special and beyond memorable :)

XOXO

Day 27 brings Brien Michaels, two giveaways and a brief hijack.

Okay, so I have to hijack this space briefly from the 9 Years of Sommer party for just a minute tosay....yay! Lost in You is officially out in the US and the UK . I am beside myself. Which is interesting before you've really had coffee. Two of you sitting right next to each other vibrating over a new release? Spectacular!

*ahem*

Now back to the regularly scheduled blog post which is the last guest day for this party. Brien Michaels is here because he has a brand new release too. How exciting is that?

I've been bumping into Brien online for years and he's always so sweet. He was the first person to send me a picture of my book The Best of Sommer Marsden from a bookstore...in print. I still have that picture somewhere. I was so damn excited it was ridiculous. I'll always be grateful for that picture :)

Brien's choosing two winners so make sure you comment for a chance to win and make sure you *leave your email address so we can contact you if you win.

Speaking of winners...my winner of yesterday's big-ass box set is...t'Sade! That should make Fluffy happy, right? t'Sade, Abi will be contacting you shortly. Congrats! Everyone was entered in the grand prize draw which is...TOMORROW! Wow, time flies when you're having fun.

 * * * * *

In honor of the birthday girl (three cheers for Sommer!) I’m going to spend a little time today talking about births. In this case, the birth of a series. I’ve blogged, rather extensively, in the past about how the first book in the Sexy College Studs series, As Long As You’re Mine, came to be. But something I’ve rarely said is that it was intended to be a one-shot. I wrote the book for a submission call about the men who buy rentboys and that was just supposed to be the end of it. But when I sold the book to Loose Id, my plans changed.
Shortly after I signed my contract on As Long As You’re Mine, I saw that LI had a call open for holiday stories. I hadn’t written one in a couple years so I thought to myself, eh, I’ll write something for it. I’d already had an idea for a story floating around in my head that would fit perfectly for the holidays. But when I sat down to try to write I spent like three days staring at a blank page. And any author will tell you that three days can easily feel like a lifetime. Especially when there’s a deadline looming. At any rate, I was packing for a trip to New Orleans for the Authors After Dark conference and listening to music, as I usually do, when the song that inspired the idea for the story popped up in my shuffle. So I got to thinking about the book again.
How, I asked myself, could I get this man who’d never really believed in love to meet someone who changes his perception of everything? As I was contemplating, I got the first round of edits on As Long As You’re Mine and that’s when it hit me. I could have my hero meet this guy over the phone. The idea of phone sex had worked for me before, so why not try it again? I still didn’t think of it as the second book in a series, though, until one of my co-workers read a rough version of As Long As You’re Mine and demanded to know more about the phone sex line Zac worked for. I went to write with her requests in mind, and this time the words flowed like they hadn’t in a very long time. I loved the way it was coming along and so did my editor and she bought it before I’d even finished writing it.
And so Not Like the Movies came to be. I had a guy, too painfully awkward to be in the type of relationship a college guy would expect, and another who was tired of getting the same results with everything in his life. Chris and Jay had chemistry like no other characters I’d written and they really seemed to jump off the page, and I truly don’t think that would have happened if I hadn’t introduced the Sexy College Studs thread to the story. Because, honestly, who doesn’t love phone sex?
What are some of your favorite series? And could you tell from the first book that it would be a series? Every comment will enter you into my giveaway. One person will win a copy of the first book in the Sexy College Studs series: As Long As You’re Mine. I’ll also choose a second winner, who’ll receive a copy of the first book in my Stories of Us series: Can’t Make You Love Me.
Blurb for Not Like the Movies:
Jay has spent the last decade in front of a computer. He watches movies, taking everything he knows from them. But lately he’s started to want more. Including a one night stand with his super-hot roommate Chris. Starting off slow, he’s called the Sexy College Studs hotline, and the sexy sounding Duke.

Chris has had everything handed to him his entire life, but college life is tough. In an effort to earn more cash, he’s been working for Sexy College Studs. On the phone, he goes by the name Duke and is in high demand, with more repeat customers than any other guy in the company. But his clients bore him. Except the mysterious Kyle, the guy with the strange fascination with movies, who wants him for companionship, not just sex.

When Jay and Chris find out each other’s true identities, it’s weird for both of them, but Chris is up for the challenge. He wants a month to prove to Jay that true love isn’t what you see in the movies. But he falls for Jay harder than he expected. If he wins, he gets the relationship he’s always craved, but if he loses, he could lose Jay forever.
Blurb for Can’t Make You Love Me:
It’s just a crush…right?

Sean has had a serious crush on Dylan for years, he's just never known how to tell him. So when the opportunity arises to show Dylan how he really feels, how is Sean supposed to resist?

It doesn't matter how straight Dylan is, he knows attraction when he feels it. The only problem is that things seem to be progressing further than he'd like, and Sean shows no signs of turning back. Dylan needs to make a choice—and the sooner, the better—because the longer he waits, the more likely things will get out of hand. But how can he turn away his best friend without losing...his best friend?
Excerpt from Not Like the Movies:
“What if I told you I was afraid?”Duke chuckled softly on the other end of the phone. “Afraid of what?”Jay sat silent for a long moment. He picked at a stray thread in his comforter as he pondered his answer. “Being left alone.”“News flash, dude, you kind of are alone. Unless there’s a boyfriend you didn’t tell me about. ’Cause you know three-ways are extra.”“I thought you said this one was off the clock.”“Relax. I was only joking.”Jay lay back and let Duke’s easygoing baritone calm his racing thoughts. He wondered how he sounded to Duke. Before the two of them had started talking, Jay downloaded an app that gave him the voice of someone else, just in case Duke didn’t like the voice he already had. “I don’t know. My whole life has been ‘Leave or get left.’ With everything. So it makes sense that it would transfer to my love life too.”“You know what I think?” Duke grunted as though he had sat up in bed. “I think you’re full of it. No one wants to get dumped, but it happens. It’s stupid if you’re gonna hurt somebody who might actually be into you just because they can’t live up to impossible expectations.”“Impossible expectations?”“Yeah. That leave-or-get-left thing might be part of your problem, but we’ve been talking long enough that I think I’ve figured out what the real one is.”“Really?” Jay sat up himself, intrigued. “And what might that be?”“You keep watching all these fucking movies, and then you’re disappointed when these guys in real life aren’t the heroes you want them to be. Life isn’t a romantic comedy. There isn’t always a happily-ever-after around the corner if you work hard enough for it.”“But why couldn’t there be? Why can’t the perfect guy be waiting somewhere for me right now?”“I’m not saying he isn’t. And I’m not saying it can’t happen. All I’m trying to say is that it’s not guaranteed. And there are some really good guys out here you could be missing out on because you’re expecting too much.”Jay thought about that. Maybe Duke had a point.Duke grunted again. “Do me a favor?”“Sure.” As if he even had to ask. Something about the way Duke’s voice washed over Jay always made him extra receptive. He was starting to think maybe he had a thing for deep voices.“Close your eyes.”Jay did as instructed. “Okay.”“Imagine me and you are together. Like together, together.”“I don’t even know what you look like.”“That’s why you’re supposed to use your imagination, doofus. Make me up.”A body appeared in Jay’s mind’s eye. Exceedingly ordinary at first, but the more Jay thought of Duke, the more it took shape. Deep-cut abs, pecs you could bounce quarters off, sky-blue eyes, shaggy blond hair. “Okay.”“So we’ve been going out awhile, right? Everything is going great until you find out…I dunno, I have a drug problem or something. We fight about it a few times, and I swear I’ll stop. Because I don’t wanna lose you, right? But then you come home one day and find me doing it again. Then there’s this huge blowup, and there are lots of fuck-yous and I-hate-yous and baby-I’m-sorrys being thrown around. So you storm out and tell me it’s over, right? What do you expect me to do then?”It took Jay a moment to pull himself back to reality. He’d been so wrapped up in Duke’s scenario that he’d found himself getting angry over this made-up problem. “I’d expect you to follow me. If you care about me as much as you say you do, you’d follow me and try to convince me to come around.”“Okay. Let’s go with that. Let’s say you took the car. And it’s raining. And you’re not answering my calls.”“Okay?”There was that chuckle again. The one that made Jay’s insides curl with something he wasn’t ready to feel.“So you want me to chase you down on foot in the rain? And what if I do all that, and I make it to your place, and I stand there in the rain, banging on the door and begging and pleading for you to forgive me, and you still don’t open the door?”“If you really want it that bad, then you’d wait for me to come out.”“Right. So you want me to stand out in the rain, possibly catching pneumonia and dying, until you’re ready to come out and talk to me?”Jay remained silent as he considered the options. Sure, Duke’s scenario was extreme, but he honestly couldn’t see himself wanting anything less.Duke apparently took the silence as an answer. “Fuck that, dude. Because let me tell you how it’ll really play out. I’m just as fucking angry as you are, not to mention hurt because I know that I fucked up and hurt someone I care about. So I’m gonna give you your space and time to cool off before I try to talk to you. I need that time too, right? I have to clear my head and think of what I’m gonna say that’s gonna be so mind-blowingly amazing that you aren’t going to have any choice but to forgive me. I deserve at least that, right?”“Well, yeah. When you put it like that…”“You know why it played out the way it did in your mind? Because that’s how it would have happened in a movie. Dude would have totally lost his nuts and gone chasing your car through the rain, trying to get you to see it his way. But in real life, if that happened, he probably would have gotten run over and died, and you would have felt guilty because you’d know that he would have never been in that road if you hadn’t expected him to be.”Jay fought a grin. He hated it when Duke did this to him but couldn’t help loving it at the same time. “How do you do that?”“Do what?”“Completely deconstruct everything I think and somehow manage to turn me into the bad guy?”“I’m not turning you into the bad guy, man. I’m just opening your eyes to how fucking crazy you really are.”Jay scoffed. “I’m not crazy. I just want things to be a certain way.”“Yeah, it helps when that way is realistic. It helps the rest of us be able to live up to it.”“It is realistic.” But now Jay wasn’t so sure. Not after the way Duke had painted that picture for him.“Sure, it is. I’m gonna go, all right? Got a class at eight thirty.”“Okay. Wednesday still on the house too?”“You’re gonna get me fired, dude.”“You lost the bet, not me.”“I know.” Jay could hear the smile in Duke’s voice. “It’s still on the house. Just remember to call my personal. They check the minutes on the work phone.”“Gotcha. G’night, Duke.”A moment of silence, then, “Night.”Jay’s roommate barged in as soon as he’d ended the call.“Hey,” Chris said. Like clockwork, he let his bag slide to the floor and pulled his shirt off.As usual, Jay narrowed his eyes and stared off into a corner of the room. “Can’t you ever keep your shirt on for, like, five minutes?”“It’s been on all day. Way longer than five minutes.”“You know what I mean.” Jay scrubbed a hand over his cheek and tried to force himself to think of something boring. Hopefully Chris wouldn’t see the blush creeping up.“I know. I just like fucking with you.” Chris flopped down on his bed and grabbed a book off his nightstand.Jay chanced a peek in Chris’s direction. He had his nose buried in the latest Patterson. If Jay had learned anything in the time since the college had assigned them as dorm mates, it was not to mess with Chris when he pulled out a book. It was almost as though he went into a trance, ensconced in the pages and unable to focus on anything else.Jay stopped himself before his gaze drifted any lower. Chris was hot, sure, but he was also the poster boy for straight guys of America. He didn’t flaunt how hot he was, but Jay didn’t come on to guys who looked that good unless he wantedto be rejected. Jay had seen guys like Chris before, though. In movies. You thought they were straight until you got them drunk enough, and then they started stalking you to make sure you’d never tell anyone.“Hey, um…” Jay cleared his throat. “You gonna be up for a while? I wanna watch a movie.” Chris didn’t respond, so Jay added, “Wanted to make sure I wouldn’t keep you up.”Chris blinked a few times, as though the pages still had a hold on him. “Yeah, that’s cool. I’m not going to sleep until I finish this. Only got a hundred pages left.”Jay marveled at Chris’s reading drive as he picked up his laptop off the floor.Duke floated back into his mind as he pulled up his video streaming account. No way his expectations were too high. There had to be a guy out there who could live up to them. But what if there wasn’t?Would he spend his entire life alone?
