Lammie Guidelines Still No E-books Allowed; Kobo Refund From DOJ Settlement

I posted about the Lambda Awards recently, and now I'm linking to this year's submission guidelines, here. If you want your LGBT book to be considered, this is what you need to do.

Of course in the guidelines it stipulates no electronic submissions are permitted...no e-books will be eligible or even remotely considered for the Lambda Literary Awards. Just print books, as it's been done for the past twenty-five years, since Reagan was President and before there were HIV meds that kep...

New Blog For New Writers: Self-Destruction

A friend on social media pointed me in the direction of a new blog that's being designed to help new writers avoid the pitfalls of working in publishing in a time when so many things are changing. The blog is authored by two writers, one new and the other more experienced. The first post is an example of how new writers can get scammed by marketing services and e-publishing services that promise the world, for a fee, and never wind up delivering. The reason I posted a photo of an empty booksh...

Male Full Frontal Nudity: Boardwalk Empire; Bobby Cannavale

We don't often see full frontal male nudity on TV, or even in feature films. And as an erotic romance author with over one hundred published works of fiction, I've always found that interesting. I do think there's a reason for this. I know some might disagree, and some would think this topic isn't important. But it's not something I see discussed often and when I see male full frontal in films and on TV I get curious.

We see breasts, a lot of ass, occasionally vagina, and pelvis shots, but never...

Next Amazon KDP Release: "A Sign From Heaven Above"

I haven't posted anything about my work with the Amazon KDP program in a while because I've been busy working on contracted books for publishers. But I'm getting close to releasing another KDP book very soon and I wanted to mention it.

This time it's a story titled, "A Sign From Heaven Above." It's an original story that has never been published anywhere before, it's gay erotic romance, and it runs about 8,000 words. It will also be priced at .99 just like my other KDP releases on Amazon.

Raw...

I Found Hattie's Hatpin in the Naughtiest Place!!

I've been subscribing to a magazine for a while that's called "Reminisce." It covers a lot of nostalgia pieces, with photos, of the twentieth century. I personally enjoy the old car photos and articles that get into provenance.

Every month there's a contest held, and readers have to search for "Hattie's Hatpin." It's not as simple as it sounds. Hattie's Hatpin is basically an extremely thin black two or three inch line with a slightly rounded end. It can be anywhere in the magazine,...

Have You Noticed Facebook Status Updates Getting Longer?

The article to which I'm linking in mashable was written almost a year ago, but I haven't seen any changes since then. It discusses the length of Facebook status updates, without getting into whether or not people care for them. In the past few months I've seen updates getting longer and I've been wondering if this is a new trend...or not. I'm also curious to see what people think about long status updates, especially if it's selling or promoting something we may or may not need.
I'...

Annoying Things Gay Guys Do On Airplanes...

This is from Queerty.com, not from me. Evidently, there are six things that gay men do on planes that drive people up the wall.

Here are the titles, you can read more in detail at this link.

1. Attempt to join the mile high club

2. Cruise Grindr and Manhunt over wifi

3. Complain

4. Sneak aboard too many carry on pieces

5. Flirt with the flight attendant

6. Brag about flying private

I have to admit that I've been guilty of three of the above.

But I have friends who have been guilty of all of the ab...

Stonewall CYMRU Covering Gay Issues Across Wales

A regular blog reader and friend sent me a link the other day to a web site he thought I might find interesting. He's a university student in Wales and he keeps me up to date with what's happening in the UK.

I took one look at the link and decided to post about it. It's not only well organized, it's informative and seems to cover all the relevant issues younger gay people are facing these days. And while I tend to focus on the lighter side of being young and gay in my books because I thi...

Where Do Gays Fit Into The Upcoming Election?

Where do gays fit into the upcoming election isn't a rhetorical question. I'm actually curious, because so far I haven't seen anything about same sex marriage or equal rights mentioned anywhere. And as an independent voter who usually makes up his mind at the last minute like millions of other Americans, there are certain issues that are more important to me than others. This time same sex marriage and equality is number one for me.

Clearly, same sex marriage isn't being considered an im...

More Bad, Disgusting Food Photos...

When I wrote this post a few weeks ago, with this bad food photo link, I had no idea how strongly some people felt about bad food photos. But I received a few e-mails from people who actually get physically ill looking at them, and some gave me links they thought I might find interesting. I even found a brand new bad food photo of my own, but you'll have to go to the bottom of this post to see it.

And I did find the links interesting. I had no idea there was one guy out there making...
