Release Day: Fifty Writers on Fifty Shades of Grey by Lori Perkins

Today is the release day of FIFTY WRITERS ON FIFTY SHADES OF GREY. It's a book of essays, edited by Lori Perkins, on how 50 writers interpreted the bestselling novel Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James. Here's some basic information about the book, and a few facts. I have an essay of my own in the book titled, "The Delicate Balance," that is focused on the differences between how the novel was received by both reviewers who were familiar with BDSM and ordin...

Recent Publications and Something New for Next Year

It's been incredibly busy since September, and I'm not talking about getting through hurricane Sandy and living for over a week without power. I actually worked during that time with my computer plugged into our generator for five hours a day. Then we would plug the generator into other things, like heat and TV to get through the rest of the long dark nights. I love my Amish friends, but I wasn't cut out to be Amish. I need all the modern conveniences that are available.

In any event, I'm...

E-Book Market/Art Market: Should We Be Thinking More Like Business People?

When I read an article about how the e-book market is different from the art market, I couldn't help but wonder whether or not we should be thinking more like business people. As the owner of a high end art gallery for ten years, and a small business owner all my life, I've spent most of my life buying and re-selling things for profit.

During the time I owned my gallery I represented over 100 artists, most of whom remained with me for the ten year period in which I was in business. I too...

Thanksgiving Facts...and a Huge One About Gay Guys

Below is a list of interesting Thanksgiving facts from National Geographic. And I'd like to share a fact about gay men and Thanksgiving some may or may not know. The Wednesday night before Thanksgiving is a big night at the bars and clubs. So if you're single and you didn't know that, it might be a good idea to pull yourself together, put on that new tight shirt you've been saving, and get out there that night. I don't know why this is, and I never took the time to ask. But I h...

Jenna Lyons Comes Out, NGBLOG, And Dealing with Malware False Alarms

Before I get into what happened today that kind of freaked me out for a minute or two, I'd like to post to a link at a blog I also found today by coincidence...because of what freaked me out this morning.

This link will take you to the NGBLOG, to an article about Jenna Lyons coming out officially.

Remember Jenna Lyons? She’s the President and Creative Director of JCrew, and she’s officially come out as a lesbian.

It apparently happened during some awards ceremony earlier this week.

Last yea...

Fictionwise.com Saying Ciao

I have been hearing rumors about fictionwise.comhttp://www.fictionwise.com/ for a long time, and I knew they'd been acquired by B&N. I have to admit that I will miss them, and I have been a faithful customer in the past for many reasons. It's one of the first places where I ever downloaded an e-book, and I've had one e-book of my own (A Regular Bud) on their bestseller list in erotica for years now.

If you have an account there and you didn't get an e-mail, you might want to read thr...

Does Grammar Matter On Facebook and Social Media

I have always believed that grammar is not the most important thing when it comes to personal blogging, facebook, and social media. I think social media should be a more relaxed place to go, where we do more socializing than anything else. And no one likes the grammar police. In fact, I'll take it one more step and state that I don't really care if something is misspelled when it comes to social media...and that includes blogging. Most mistakes on social media are innocent and we al...

Billionaire Rakes: The Wall Street Shark

Although the next book, THE IVY LEAGUE RAKE, in the billionaire rake series I've been working on for Ravenous Romance has not been released yet, I'm finishing up edits on the next book and I wanted to post a preview of the plot summary and a short excerpt.

This title is THE WALL STREET SHARK, and this hasn't even been submitted to the publisher yet, so it's still in its rawest form. I've become fond of doing things like this before I submit a book to a publisher to see how the summary lo...

NaNoWriMo Tip of the Day; Allromanceebooks 12 Days of Christmas; Don't Just Shop Amazon

Although I'm not doing NaNoWriMo, I do have friends working hard at it and I've seen that they are offering daily tips for writers who are doing NaNoWriMo over at Galley Cat.

In this article, they link to a site where you can turn your browser into a typewriter:

The free Internet Typewriter site will turn your web browser into a distraction-free black screen for writing your manuscript, complete with electric or manual typewriter sounds.

I find this interesting. One of the biggest issues I had...
