Whenever I'm working on a novel that is set in the past it's always difficult to find a word for gay people. I don't like the word homosexual, and the word gay had nothing to do with same sex love or relationships prior to the 1970s. It's not easy. Mostly, I avoid it and try to show rather than tell.

If you don't know anything about pronouns, you might find this helpful. I see people doing gender pronouns more and more, both on social media and in real life, and I've been using gender neutral pronouns unless I know for certain which pronouns to use. I haven't used gender neutral pronouns (they/them or Ze/Hir) with fiction because I don't want to confuse readers, but I do make the pronouns clear in every book I write now.

I've always loved nude beaches. The first time I went I wasn't sure what to expect, but the interesting thing I discovered is there isn't really much to expect. People go to nude beaches, they remove their clothes, and then it's just like every other beach. With the exception that there aren't any noisy kids running around at nude beaches. But the truth is you don't even realize you're nude after a while.
