Tutorial Tsunami!

A Tutorial Tsunami means lots of learning, lots of fun and good times for all. A bunch of us pals (we call ourselves the Art Sparks) got together and decided to start a tsunami of sorts. Jane LaFazio, Diana Trout and I will pack the snowball and get it rolling. Oh wait! I am mixing metaphors!

Jane will be doing a machine felting tutorial and Diana will be guiding us through an adventure of BIG art making. From here we will pass the baton to Lyric Kinard and Alisa Burke who will be posting...

It makes sense to me, anyway.

MtestaEnv1.jpg

Quilting isn't my only gig. I love to paint and play too. Actually. I got stopped up with The 20, hit a road block, and have been out on a limb ever since. It is also called breathing air into the creative block. I trust it will come around again, but in the meantime, I am playing and getting ready to teach Let's Exchange some Art.

MTestaEnv2.jpg

In fact, I may well be finished making samples and step outs for the class. I had so much fun! I learned alot and am ready to share my findings with all of you. I d...

You know you want to!

Who the heck doesn't like to get something personal in the mail?

MTestaExMail.jpg

In my upcoming Joggles class we will be exchanging little beauties through the mail. The above is a sample of what you might get from me, if you sign up for Let's Exchange some Art! I know I have been pushing this class, it is my newest offering and being a fickle artist, I am the most excited about it. So heck! Go ahead and sign up! I want to play some art with you.

I don't write in my Journals.

Last week, I took a hike, hit the park, went on holiday!

It was fun and interesting. My friend JJ has moved to Provincetown. She has new digs and wanted to show them off. So I took the Bolt Bus to Boston and the Fast Ferry to P-Town. So here is my photo montage of the week.

This piece looks as though it is a lino cut rhino, or a speedo rubber stamp. I couldn't resist the message below it either.

On my way, I saw this art, which I have also seen on the streets of Brooklyn. I really like this...

How do you engage artistically?

D&LFrancoPiasso.jpg

I have seen Dream and Lie in Franco twice in the last month and cried both times. Seeing a piece or art that moves you, in person, is worthy.

One of the things that going to the Fashion Institute of Technology instilled in me was that it is not OK to work in a vacuum. An artist must, in order to feed the soul, go and see works of art of their contemporaries or those artist's they admire. Finding influence where you are able and utilizing the spark and drive that input imparts is of the...

During the month of June, I am going to do a Tutorial a week and hope you will enjoy my offerings. Next week will be a surface design tutorial. I can't wait.

Months ago, I made this case along with this larger zippered case. Today's tutorial features the simple pencil case. Hopefully, I will get to the larger pencil case too. I hope you enjoy.
