Toasted Cake Podcast of Immeasurable

Tina Connolly does a fantastic job reading my humorous flash fiction piece “Immeasurable” on her Parsec winning Toasted Cake podcast. If you have 10 minutes to spare, give it a listen to episode 167 on the Toasted Cake site.

Tina Connolly is the author of the Ironskin trilogy from Tor Books, and the Seriously Wicked series, from Tor Teen. Her books have been finalists for the Nebula, Norton, and World Fantasy awards. We met a few years ago while she was leading a writers workshop.

I actually...

Humor: Want to Hear Horror Ad Spoofs?

My guest stint on the HorrorAddicts.net podcast continues, and it’s the funniest episode yet. Way funnier than other horror podcasts, I’m sure.

Season 12, episode 140 continues the Next Great Horror Writer contest, where 13 contestants (alas, one has fallen by the wayside) compete in writing challenges.

The horror hostess, Emerian Rich, and I not only helped judge the entries, we ran through table-readings of the spoof commercials so you could hear some of the favorites. It is silly, but fun....

Next Great Horror Writer Judge and Co-host

cropped-nghwblogMuch to my own surprise, I’ve been appearing on the HorrorAddicts.net podcast as a judge of the ongoing Next Great Horror Writer contest. This season on HorrorAddicts.net fourteen up and coming horror writers are competing for a book deal and various other prizes.

In a reality contest worthy of Mark Burnett, the contestants are producing a variety of entries, including short stories, horror product advertisement spoofs, blogs, and even poetry. The challenge is different each time.

I was asked...

Sneak Peek of “Frayed Ears” from Clockwork Wonderland

Among my several in-progress novels, I occasionally remember to send a rare short story out into the world.

One arrives this month in Clockwork Wonderland, an anthology inspired by the theme of Alice in Wonderland and clocks. Every author had a different take. Mine was a loopy and dark kids playground of ideas.

Clockwork WonderlandHere’s an excerpt:

Frayed Ears

By H.E. Roulo

Rabbit’s ears lay flat to his skull. His mouth hung open, chest fluttering. Cornstalks rustled all around him. He whimpered and nestled his...

Sparklyjemz Corner: Howard

Hi! This is Sparklyjemz, the teenage fan of Plague Master: Sanctuary Domegiving you my view on the characters bymaking SIMS characters that looks like and have traits like in the book. I couldn’t find a favorite quote this time, but I did change into some zombie-fighting gear! This may have something to do with his character… but I’ll never tell! Ha!
