A Vague Future Awaits

My favorite -- and most noncommittal -- fortune.

Read Me At: McSweeney's Internet Tendency

Just because you live in a post-apocalyptic wasteland doesn't mean you have to be a dick about it. Which is the basic sentiment behind "End of the World or Not, I Still Have Feelings," a short piece I wrote which you can now read over at the McSweeney's website. It's kind of like The Road, but with therapy.
"End of the World or Not" is actually an extra-condensed version of a short story I've struggled with over the years, so I'm glad that it's finally getting to see the light of day in shorter, funnier form.
If you like it, I invite you to check out my short novella Rocket , which I can only describe as The Right Stuff, meets Fast Times at Ridgemont High, meets Forever or Never (I just made that last one up). It's available for $3.99 from Amazon (and here). You can also get it as an ebook for a cheap 99-cents at iBooks (do a search for my name), and in various other electronic formats here.

And of course, there's also my noir detective novel The Canal , which has it all: Brooklyn, sewers, and compulsive handwashing. It's available as an ebook from Amazon and B&N.

Time Travelers Use Craigslist

(Click to enlarge)Time travelers wanted. And ghosts and warlocks and/or neuroscientists too, because why the fuck not. (Oh how I pray this is real.)

Time Travelers Use Cell Phones

First, there was the time traveling hipster, captured in a photograph from 1940. And now, it's the time traveling cell phone user, as seen in the background of a 1928 Charlie Chaplin film called The Circus. Click here to watch the footage and to have your very existence ROCKED TO THE CORE. Clearly there is no reason to be skeptical about any and/or all of this.

Canal News: Ride The Wave

Updates on Brooklyn's Gowanus Canal, the real life inspiration behind my horror novel, The Canal.

Ah, the Gowanus Canal. Is there any place more neglected? Are there any waters more unsanitary? Will I ever, at any point in my life, want to take a swim?
No.

It's A Living

As a movie trailer copywriter, occasionally the heavens smile upon you, and your ethereal finely-wrought prose appears in the newly released trailer for a movie about a machete-wielding Federale on a mission of blood-soaked revenge.
Behold the Machete trailer below. The magic happens at the 57-second mark -- the 'When a man has nothing to lose,' line is all mine.
Truly, it's moments like these when I'm just grateful for having been given the chance to touch so many people's lives.
