Light Summer Reading
Like eating during the hot summer months, I find myself craving lighter fare.
Novels are hard to keep up with while I have time to take my grandchildren to the lake, so I like to read shorter, easier things like poetry and essays.
This summer I am enjoying Changing Light, edited by Ruth Gendler. It is a collection of poetry and short stories that is easy to put down and pick back up again.
I am also re-reading Gift from the Sea. I have always enjoyed this book and take out my wonderful hardcover version every few years to read through it again.
Author Anne Morrow Lindbergh had wonderful insight into women's lives. It amazes me how this book can still be so relevant after so many years, but her words still resonate with me.
Of course, writing still takes up most of my time since I am always on deadline (and like it that way!). That never changes, even for the hot days of summer.
Working right now on our new pie shop mystery for Charter Books. No publication date yet. Maybe next year. We'll see.
