Waiting for The Other Shoe to Drop --Part Seven

                 I
hopped in the shower and stood underneath the warm spray wondering if tonight
was a mistake? Suppose the sex was horrible? How would we look at each other in
the morning? Not that I’m saying I’m a goddess in bed but I know what I want.
Most women play the good girl, I don’t do that kind of stuff role, but at the
end of the day, I want satisfaction. Besides, the way my sex life has been
lately, who knew if I’d have a chance for some flesh to flesh action again?
Shun and I had a pretty decent sex life, but he had the nerve to be a selfish
lover. He wanted to get his and roll over then go to sleep. That would’ve been
fine had he made sure I had gotten me as well. I should’ve known then and there
that this thing wasn’t going to work. But I digress. Would Rich be worth the
headache?

                Turning
the water off, I stepped out of the shower and wrapped myself in a plush towel
but I didn’t have a moment to ponder further on the what ifs, because my
doorbell chimed. “Shit,” I muttered as I nearly tripped over my feet looking
for my robe and a tip for the driver. The doorbell rang again and I just threw
caution to the wind, grabbed the money from the edge of my dresser and went to
the door – expecting to see a delivery driver. Surprise. Rich was early.

                “Well,”
he said as held up a medium priced bottle of merlot. “Did I do a good job
picking out the wine?”

                “You’re
early and the food isn’t here yet.” I shook my head and held my towel tighter
as Rich stepped in the house. “I have to get dressed so; you can listen for the
door and take care of the tip.”

                “I
thought women liked it when men were a little early or on time?”

                “It’s
rude to be late or early,” I said as I dashed down the hall and into my room.
As I dressed in a jersey mini dress with a small bleach spot at the tail, I
heard the doorbell chime again. Great, now the driver was here. I stood in the
hallway and watched Rich’s interaction with the man, he handed him a ten dollar
bill and took the food.

                “All
right,” he said. “Food’s here.”

                “Great,”
I said. “I’ll get the plates. You can set the food up on the coffee
table.”  Looking over my shoulder, I saw Rich
heading my way.

                “What’s
wrong with the dining room?” he asked. “That way I won’t have to compete with
whatever reality show or Lifetime movie you’re going to flip to.”

                Slapping
my hand on my hip, I tilted my headed to the side and rolled my eyes at him.
“I’m really sick of you and your generalizations. It’s time for ESPN’s E-60 and
I don’t do reality TV, unless it’s about ancient Egypt.”

                He
bowed. “My apologies. I hope to keep my foot out of my mouth for the rest of
the night.”

                “Then
maybe the next time you open your mouth should be the moment you put food in
it?”

                “So,
you don’t want to talk, huh?” He closed the space between us and wrapped his
arms around my waist. “Is there anything else that I can do with my mouth that
doesn’t involve talking?”

                Lord
help me,
I thought as I ran my index finger across his bottom lip. He
flicked his tongue across the pad of my finger and I shivered as if an artic
wind blew across my spine. He slipped his hand underneath my dress and I was so
excited not to be wearing panties. Not even a flimsy thong, because I wanted to
see if he knew how to use those big hands and long fingers for more than just pecking
away at the computer. Boy was I happy.  His fingers danced around my wet slit and my
lips puckered wanting and needing him to seek out my throbbing clit for one
second. Lips split, clitoris stroked and drummed until legs turned to rubber –
he had skills with those fingers. Moaning, I sucked on his bottom lip until we
hummed a lustful tune with the same melody. Feeling his erection against my
thighs made me tremble with anticipation and need. Or was that want? It didn’t
matter. I just needed to know one thing:

“Do you have a condom?”

The Carolina Panthers and the broken record

Cam Newton has said it.

Now Captain Munnerlyn is saying it.

The Carolina Panthers sound like a broken record.

They do.

When you're 2-8, it's hard to sing a different song.

Chatting with Joelle Sterling, author of Midnight Cravings

Joelle Sterling is the author of Midnight Cravings, the first in a
trilogy. Her next novel in the series is Forbidden Feast. She lives in
Philadelphia.

Sterling is a new voice in urban fantasy fiction and she talked to me about her new novel.

The first book in a new trilogy is a supernatural fest with witches, vampires, and zombies in an urban setting.

Holland
Manning has discarded the nerdy girl image for a bold and edgy look.
This is the year that she’s finally going to fit in with the popular
kids and snag her long-time crush, football star Jarrett Sloan.
Holland’s mom claims to be a witch, but her spells often go awry and
sometimes even backfire. When Holland asks her mother to cast a spell
for her, strange things begin to occur, and Holland suspects that her
mother may have mistakenly opened a portal that has unleashed menacing,
dark forces.

Desperate to find a better life in America,
seventeen-year-old Jonas embarks on a perilous voyage from Haiti to
Miami—a voyage manned by a sadistic captain and fraught with
superstitious hysteria and voodoo spells. When Jonas wakes up in
Frombleton, GA, he realizes that he’s been changed. No longer a normal
teenager, he’s become something unspeakably sinister— something undead!

Discovering
her own powers of sorcery that have been laying dormant, Holland joins
forces with Jonas and soon finds herself falling for him, despite the
dark secret he keeps. Though woefully outnumbered, Holland and Jonas
take on the dangerous mission of vanquishing the nest of vampires that
are picking off the residents of Frombleton, one by one.

In this life or death clash between witches, vampires, and zombies, Midnight Cravings is a bone-chillingly scary tale of teenage angst and forbidden love.

    Why
did you decided to write urban fantasy?

I loved to read about the great author Zora
Neale Hurston.  I wanted to write a
series of books that captivates Zora’s true essence of her studies in the
voodoo culture.   In addition, I love to develop stories that
will intrigue and keep readers on the edge of their seats. Therefore, I wanted
to take readers on a ride that they will not forget.  I love to read paranormal novels. Therefore, I
wanted to give my readers a book that entertains, intrigues, tantalizes their
reading buds.

    Where
did you get the inspiration for this trilogy?

The characters in my books take on a life and identity that is clearly
all their own. As I began the writing process, it was clear to me that their
stories could not be contained in one book. Therefore, it was a clear and
obvious decision to make the series a trilogy.

      What
do you think sets your fantasy apart from other books in this genre?

Generally
speaking, the majority of books that feature zombies have them in a post
apocalyptic world. However, my book goes back to the original zombie myth
that originates in Haiti. In addition, my books strategically weave the lives
of the characters in a dynamic web.

Waiting For The Other Shoe to Drop --Part Six B

                By the
time I got home, I was beyond pissed. Perry could dry up a wet dream and my
thoughts of seducing Rich had been replaced with fantasies of bashing my boss’s
head in with a sack of bricks. Kicking my shoes across my living room, I picked
up the phone and called Rich with every intention of canceling on him.

                “Where
did you disappear to?” he asked.

                “Perry
and I had a conversation that didn’t go so well, so I had to leave.”

                “And I
thought you were avoiding me. My plan had been to get you alone in a corner and
see if we could replay that scene in your car without Marvin edging us on.” His
voice was low and seductive.

                “Is
that so?”

                “Yes.
Are we still on for this evening or are you going to let Perry, who was looking
for you by the way, ruin our plans?”

                “He was
looking for me? That sap . . . forget him. Why don’t you bring a bottle of
merlot and I’ll take care of the food.”

                “As in
you’re going to cook?”

                “As in
there will be some food here for you to eat,” I replied. Cooking? Yeah, right.
I plucked a menu for India food out of the basket near my land line phone.

                “You
can’t cook, can you?” The laughter in his voice was borderline annoying, but
thinking about the smile that probably framed his face made me think about his
lips. I wasn’t annoyed anymore.

                “I can
cook, but you haven’t earned that yet.”

                “All
right, I can live with that. Tell me, though, what do I have to do to earn a home
cooked meal?”

                “Depends
on your wine selection.”

                “I’ll
see you at eight,” he said.

                After
hanging up with Rich, I called the Bombay Kitchen and ordered Tandoori
Chicken, mango chutney and mushroom curry. Then I realized, as I gave the
cashier my credit card number, I’d ordered a lot of damned food.

                I had about forty
five minutes before dinner would arrive, that gave me just enough time to
shower and change into a pair of yoga pants and a white tank top. Part of me
wondered if I should’ve just put on some lingerie and heels. Then I decided
that even though it was a given that my clothes would be coming off, Rich
needed to work for it or at least believe it was the merlot.

Waiting For The Other Shoe to Drop: Part Six-A

The day dragged by and I spent most of it looking over my
shoulder hoping to see Rich coming my way to cancel on me. Yes, I wanted him to
say what happened in my car was a mistake. I felt as if I was about jump off a
cliff into another bad decision.

                But
what if this wasn’t a bad decision? I was horny and I needed a release. Sighing
as I spotted my boss charging my way, I couldn’t help but think that my shitty
day was about get shittier.

                “Mimi,”
he said. “This project in Charlotte is extremely important and I understand
that Richard has already informed you of my decision to have you two work
together. I hope you understand it’s not an indictment of your work, but this
is a chance for you to prove that you’re a team player. We’re going to start
streamlining this office. I got that from corporate this morning. I’d hate to
lose you but. . .”

                “What
are you saying?” I asked, calmly. What I really wanted to do was hop out of my
seat and roundhouse kick this fool in the face and stand over him telling him
that he could kiss the blackest part of my black ass.

                “In
your last review, we talked about this,” he said, lowering his voice slightly. “Your
position here depends on the success of this project and landing Carolina
Health System as our client.”

                Leaning
back in my chair, I looked up at Perry, still having homicidal thoughts about him
–including choking him with my mouse cord.  “Though you think I should be more social with
my coworker, have I ever not landed a client?”

                “Well,
no. Your work is good, but that’s just. . .”

                “Mr.
Perry,  I get it. Richard and I will be
bosom buddies and land this account so that you can tell corporate that you run
fun land around here.”

                His
face reddened. “See, this is what I’m talking about. You’re borderline insubordinate.”

                And you’re borderline stupid ass
motherfucker
, I thought through my smile. “I don’t mean to be,” I replied.

                Perry
shook his head then walked away. The 12-year-old inside me wanted to flip him
off and make faces, instead, I held my composure, shut down my computer and
began packing my belongings. It was 4:30 and I was leaving. Perry could hug and
kiss my ass.

Will the men in the Petraeus affair stand by their women?

How many times have we seen a tearful man at the podium, apologizing for letting his family down? And to the left or the right of him is the wrong, yet supportive wife with a smile on her face. Obviously it's a fake one. Hilary Clinton has done it.

Dina McGreevey did it.

Silda  Spitzer did it.

But will Paula Broadwell's husband do it?

Will Jill Kelley's husband do it?

Women are expected to stand by their man during a cheating scandal. Women are supposed to forgive and forget. Men, on the other hand, are looked at as punks if they stay with an unfaithful wife. So, the men in this scandal --just what are they going to do?

Are we going to see a quick rise in the divorce rate?

Or will they be singing Lenny Kravitz?

This is too funny!

When will men learn that one woman is enough?

The perils of being the unknowing wife or girlfriend

It sucks to be cheated on.

It's also dangerous.

Not just because your trusted mate could bring an STD your way, but what about the other person? What if that side piece is unstable? Fatal Attraction wasn't just a movie. If you're a Discovery ID addict like me, you know that the other woman -- or the other man--can be crazy. Mentally unstable and come for the spouse or girlfriend.

As the media continues to pull the curtain back on the Petreaus affair, women should be taking notes. When a woman enter a relationship with a man who's committed to another woman, you have to know immediately that she has issues. What sane woman wants a man who is not hers?

Quick answer, a sane woman won't settle for that BS.

So, if a woman is willing to wait for Feb. 15 to celebrate Valentine's Day, to get her Christmas gifts on December 23 or December 26, to eat a piece of pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving night after having a one-woman dinner of frozen turkey alone, she's pretty damned nuts.

But she won't, more than likely, take her anger and hurt feelings out on the man who isn't giving her what she needs. Nope.

She's mad at the wife or girlfriend.

She stalks the wife or girlfriend.

She leaves notes, sends emails and Facebook messages to the woman who has what she wants. But why is mad at the woman?

More than likely, the spouse is clueless that she's dealing with a lying, cheating bastard. So, she is shocked when she finds out this crazy bitch can describe her man's naked body.

I can only imagine what Holly Petreaus felt like when she found out that the woman, Paula Broadwell, who had been embedded with her husband to write a book was actually going all in and bedding her husband. Especially since Broadwell is married herself and 20 years younger than the former general.

From NPR:

The sordid story surrounding the resignation of CIA Director David Petraeus continues to grow. This morning there's word that the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan, Gen. John Allen, is under investigation for "inappropriate communications"
with the woman who kicked off the chain of events that led to the
uncovering of the extramarital affair Petraeus was having (with a
different woman) and his resignation.

Allen, as NPR's Tom Bowman reported on Morning Edition, has told Pentagon officials that he did nothing wrong. But investigators have discovered, officials say,
20,000 to 30,000 pages of emails and electronic documents sent between
Allen and Jill Kelley, 37, of Tampa. The Pentagon is now investigating
Allen's communications with Kelley. Allen's nomination to be commander
of U.S. and NATO forces in Europe has been put on hold.

With
Allen's entrance into the story and the new twist involving Kelley, this
seems like a good time for a guide to who's who and what's what:

— Retired Gen. David Petraeus.
The former top U.S. commander in Afghanistan, the 60-year-old Petraeus
became director of the CIA in the summer of 2011. It was sometime after
he left the Army and took over at the CIA, Petraeus has reportedly told
friends, that he began an affair with Paula Broadwell. She's a
now-40-year-old major in the Army Reserve. They reportedly ended the
affair about four months ago. This morning's Washington Post reports
that some of the retired general's advisers say he "planned to stay in
the job even after he acknowledged the affair to the FBI, hoping the
episode would never become public. He resigned last week after being
told to do so by Director of National Intelligence James R. Clapper Jr.
on the day President Obama was reelected."

— Paula Broadwell. A specialist in counterterrorism issues as well as an Army reservist, Broadwell is the author of All In: The Education of General David Petraeus,
a biography of Petraeus. While working on that book, she lived and
worked with the then-general's staff in Afghanistan. Like Petraeus, she
is married. On Monday, FBI agents were seen searching her home in Charlotte, N.C.

— Jill Kelley. Described in reports
as a volunteer social liaison with military families at MacDill Air
Force Base in Tampa, Kelley knows Petraeus and his wife Holly. Earlier
this year, she reportedly told an acquaintance who works for the FBI
about harassing emails she had been receiving. During that
investigation, the FBI traced the emails to Broadwell. According to The New York Times,
officials say Broadwell "saw Ms. Kelley as a rival for her affections
with Mr. Petraeus." As the FBI investigated the emails to Kelley, agents
turned up online messages exchanged by Petraeus and Broadwell that
revealed their affair. Kelley is married.

— Gen. John Allen.
The FBI's investigation that uncovered the emails and revealed the
Petraeus-Broadwell affair also led to the discovery of communications
between Allen and Kelley. According to a senior U.S. defense official, as The Washington Post writes,
the emails are "potentially inappropriate." Again, the 58-year-old
Allen has reportedly said there was nothing inappropriate in the
messages. He is married.

— Unnamed FBI Agent. According to The Wall Street Journal,
the "federal agent who launched the investigation that ultimately led
to the resignation of Central Intelligence Agency chief David Petraeus
was barred from taking part in the case over the summer due to
superiors' concerns that he was personally involved in the case,
according to officials familiar with the probe. ... New details about
how the Federal Bureau of Investigation handled the case suggest that
even as the bureau delved into Mr. Petraeus's personal life, the agency
had to address conduct by its own agent—who allegedly sent shirtless
photos of himself to a woman [Jill Kelley] involved in the case prior to
the investigation." That agent also reportedly told at least one member
of Congress about the investigation of Petraeus.

— Vernon Loeb. "My wife says I'm the most clueless person in America," The Washington Post journalist writes this morning.
He was the "ghost writer" of Broadwell's book about Petraeus. According
to Loeb, "when the news broke Friday that Petraeus was resigning in
disgrace because of an adulterous affair, I was dumbfounded."

What's the victim supposed to do? Forgive the lying cheater? That's an option but not a good one. When the crazy ass other woman sees that her plans to ruin the relationship didn't work, expect her actions to escalate.

I'm not saying when you get married, you should arm yourself --but it's not a bad idea. I'm just NOT endorsing it.

If he cheats, leave. Plain and simple. Let her have him. My mama always said, the way you get him is the way you lose him. Remember that, Callista Gingrich

Just don't get caught out there by that crazed broad. She really hates you for no reason and has misplaced anger, low morals and extremely low self-esteem. Maybe she needs a subscription to Ancestry.com so that she can find her daddy and work through those Daddy issues? Just a thought.

Panthers want fans to hold on. . .but to what?

The Carolina Panthers are 2-7. Not the team that boasted they'd win the Super Bowl in July. The guy who took out the ad in The Charlotte Observer is on IR now.

And after Sunday's loss--36-14--the Panthers want fans to "hold on" like Sam and Dave?

Defensive tackle Frank Kearse said the Panthers are going to work to put things back on track and get better.

“We need to work better as a team and close these games out,” he said.

Tight end Greg Olsen called the loss frustrating.

“You got to play well and hope the chips fall where they may,” he said. “We didn’t give ourselves a chance.”

The Panthers also don’t have a chance at a postseason, despite high hopes at the beginning of training camp.

Newton said the offense has to get
better and he needs to get the ball out faster to help move things
along. He stopped short of complaining about the pounding he took Sunday
because of the lack of protection.

“That’s the same offensive line
that has done great things. It’s more frustrating to lose a football
game than to have days like that,” he said. “So, I’m not thrashing them
and I don’t expect nobody to thrash them because those guys are capable
of doing thing.”

Rivera said the Panthers are going
to keep fighting and expect to win every time they show up. Kearse
echoed his coach’s sentiment, but when asked when improvements will
become visible, he said, “As soon as possible.”

As for the postseason, it’s too late.

But even the most loyal Carolina fans are struggling to remain faithful.

Other
than CatMan, Jamaal Darby is probably the biggest Carolina Panthers fan in
Charlotte.

He
carries a Carolina Panthers debit card and in September, he gave up a chance to
see President Barack Obama speak because he traveled to Tampa for the Panthers’
season opener against the Tampa Bay Bucs – a game they lost.

But
Darby still had faith.

Following
the New Orleans win, he was excited. Filled his Twitter feed with smack talk
and cheering for the Panthers.

These
days, his Twitter picture is a photo of a fan with a paper bag over his head.
So when he was told that the Panthers want fans to hold on for an improved
team, Darby wasn’t excited.

“I don’t
know how I feel about this team right now,” he said. “I’m thoroughly
disappointed right now. I’m angered. The expectations were the playoffs or at
least eight wins this year.”

With the
Panthers sitting at 2-7 and conference play about to heat up, the Super Bowl
promise made by center Ryan Kalil –who is out with an injury – are empty
promises.

“As far
as the getting better, they don’t have a lot of flexibility to do that and this
very scary,” he said. “For me being a fan, who else would I root for? I’m stuck
with this team. It’s like a marriage. It’s like being married to a fat chick,
you can’t leave her because she got fat. You’re just stuck with her.”
