YESTERNOW

YESTERNOW

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi  (2 October 1869 – 30 January 1948) was the preeminent leader of Indian nationalism in British-ruled India. Employing nonviolent civil disobedience, Gandhi led India to independence from economic slavery imposed on India by British Imperialism and inspired movements for civil rights and freedom across the world, including Martin Luther King, the American Civil Rights Movement and other leaders of non-violent resistance to oppression.

TOUCH MAGIC

first fifteen livesClaire North (a.k.a Catherine Webb and Kate Griffin) is a Wondrous Witch of Word Wizardry! Her books have to be read. No description or comment is worthwhile;  Magic is what it is…. Magical.

After reading her book “The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August” I became an instant addict and life-long worshiper. Travel between past lives – without amnesia –  is not a familiar idea on Earth, but made all too real in this eloquently imagined and written masterwork.

touchTouch” is a masterwork of insight, descriptive observations of spiritual phenomena that can be envisioned only as fiction. “Touch” describes the ability to instantaneously transfer oneself as a spiritual entity from one body to another — to possess and control it — without harming the “owner”. The reality of being a “ghost” with the ability to “jump” between bodies is told in the context of an exotic-murder-mystery-international-action-thriller that sets a new standard for the genre and for literature! As an enchanted fan of Clair North, I am “touched” and possessed!

WEB OF LIFE

Chief Seattle (an Anglicization of Si’ahl) c. 1780 – June 7, 1866) was a Dkhw’Duw’Absh (Duwamish) chief, also known as Sealth, Seathle, Seathl, or See-ahth. A prominent figure among his people, he pursued a path of accommodation to white settlers, forming a personal relationship with David Swinson “Doc” Maynard. The city of Seattle, in the U.S. state of Washington, was named after him. A widely publicized speech arguing in favor of ecological responsibility and respect of native Americans’ land rights has been attributed to him.

Si’ahl earned his reputation at a young age as a leader and a warrior, ambushing and defeating groups of enemy raiders coming up the Green River from the Cascade foothills, and attacking the Chimakum and the S’Klallam, tribes living on the Olympic Peninsula. Like many of his contemporaries, he owned slaves captured during his raids. He was tall and broad for a Puget Sound native at nearly six feet; Hudson’s Bay Company traders gave him the nickname Le Gros (The Big One). He was also known as an orator; and when he addressed an audience, his voice is said to have carried from his camp to the Stevens Hotel at First and Marion, a distance of 3⁄4 miles (1.2 km).

He took wives from the village of Tola’ltu just southeast of Duwamish Head on Elliott Bay (now part of West Seattle). His first wife La-Dalia died after bearing a daughter. He had three sons and four daughters with his second wife, Olahl.[3] The most famous of his children was his first, Kikisoblu or Princess Angeline.  For all his skill, Si’ahl was gradually losing ground to the more powerful Patkanim of the Snohomish when white settlers started showing up in force. When his people were driven from their traditional clamming grounds, Si’ahl met Maynard in Olympia; they formed a friendly relationship useful to both. Persuading the settlers at Duwamps to rename the town Seattle, Maynard established their support for Si’ahl’s people and negotiated relatively peaceful relations among the tribes. (Wikipedia.org)

POINT OF VIEW HAIKU

We live on a planet controlled by psychopaths.  It may be wise to change our point of view in order to avoid the contagion of their insanity.

DRUIDS

druides-recolte-du-guiI am listening to the audiobooks of a wonderfully insightful and entertaining series of 8 novels by Kevin Hearne about the last surviving Druid in the 21st century.  It’s called The Iron Druid“.  Although this immortal Druid inhabits a sexy 21 year old male body, he travels between realms of reality with his faithful Irish Wolfhound (Oberon), between whom telepathic communication is their common language.

I have never read anything previously about Druids (‘oak-seer”), or the races of red-haired Celts, or the The Tuath(a) Dé Danann, a supernatural race in Irish mythology who serve a characters in these novels, along with a pantheon of gods from several planes of existence including vampires, witches, demons, fairies, ghouls, werewolves and many more manifestations of spirit in the magical “supernatural world” of wizardry and ancient wisdom.

Here is a short article from http://www.timelessmyths.com/celtic/

f15e960327d7a198623e731c4bc25222“Most of what is know, about the ancient Celtic people in history, come from observances of classical Greek and Roman writers, as well as from archaeological evidences such as from the possessions of dead in burial sites and from shrines found throughout central and western Europe, as well as from the British Isles.

To Julius Caesar, the druids were secretive but learned group, who enjoyed special privileges among the Celtic population. They did not have to fight in wars and they were exempted from paying taxes. They acted as judges in disputes and they presided over those who commit act of crime, as well as setting penalties. They could travel any where without hindrance from any tribes.

Though, there are many benefits of becoming a druid, it is still not an easy life. It may take over 20 years to learn the philosophy, divination, poetry, healing, religious rites and magic. And all this without committing anything to writing. The druids, or any Gaul for that matter, were fully aware of writing down their knowledge, but chose not to do so, because they preferred to rely on memories. For the druids, their pupils were required to exercise their mind.

The Gauls and the druids were not illiterate. Because of the trades between the Gauls and the Greek city of Massilia (modern Marseille) in southern France, the Gauls had earlier used Greek letters, mainly for trade purposes. The druids had never used the Greek writing to record their knowledge and customs. After Roman conquest of Gaul and Britain, later the Celts had adopted Roman letters for mainly commercial purposes. There are some inscriptions found in sacred sites, such as in shrines and sanctuaries.

Caesar observed that the Gauls were very religious, and they always wait for the druids to perform the necessary rituals or sacrifices. The Celts didn’t build any temples to their gods. The druids practiced their worship in the open air, such as at sacred groves or near sacred lakes.

According to Caesar and other classical writers, the Gauls believed in the souls being immortal, where it passed on to another body after death. In another words, they believed in reincarnation or eschatology.”

DRIFTING

When we are confronted by the possibility that everything we’ve learned in life could be a lie, how do we “know” what we think we know?

SEA OF LIES

FLOATING ON AN ENDLESS SEA

OF QUESTIONS AND UNCERTAINTY.

DRIFTING ON AND IN A FATHOMLESS ABYSS:

A TINY PLANET FLOATING IN THE SKY.

OUR NAKED FLESH CANNOT SURVIVE

THE AIRLESS COLD ON EITHER SIDE.

DRIVEN BY WINDS OF CHAOS AND REALITY

WE STEER OUR TINY BOAT OF LIES

TO SUSTAIN OUR FRAGILE LIVES

FOR AN INSTANT IN ETERNITY.

WHO NAVIGATES THE BRUTAL TIDES?

ARE WE OUR ONLY FRIEND AND GUIDE

WHILE SAILING THROUGH INFINITY?

A SINGLE THOUGHT

SINGLE RAY OF THOUGHT

“A single ray of light from a distant star falling upon the eye of a tyrant in bygone times may have altered the course of his life, may have changed the destiny of nations, may have transformed the surface of the globe, so intricate, so inconceivably complex are the processes in Nature. In no way can we get such an overwhelming idea of the grandeur of Nature than when we consider, that in accordance with the law of the conservation of energy, throughout the Infinite, the forces are in a perfect balance, and hence the energy of a single thought may determine the motion of a universe.”

“On Light And Other High Frequency Phenomena” A lecture delivered before the Franklin Institute, Philadelphia (24 February 1893)
