GRL is almost here - last day to order paperbacks!

I had a great shopping day, bought some cute things to wear at GRL and they were even half price! (Talk about a win/win!)

If you're buying JCP Books paperbacks directly from me, the last day to order them is today. Order here and I will bring them to the event.

There are also new T-shirts and trinkets available in the JCP Gifts store at Cafepress. Those items will ship to you - and I'd love it if I spotted some PsyCop T-shirts in the crowd, ’cos then I'll know you probably won't mind if I come over and maul you :D

Do you have a favorite shirt? Victor Bayne does....

faveshirtsIt's Saturday Snippet time, YAY!

Do you have a favorite shirt? I have two. They’re not “lucky” shirts, and they’re not dressy shirts, but I love them because they each remind me of something.

My older favorite shirt is a concert T-shirt I picked up at the Van’s Warped Tour, but it was a concert that didn’t go quite like I expected...

read the rest, plus my characters' favorite shirts, in today's Saturday Snippet!

Star light, star bright, worst star I see tonight...

As many of you know, I recently moved into a new apartment. And as many of you know, it's currently white on white a la Victor Bayne, and I suck at decorating. (Well, most of you don't know that, but I'm owning up to it right now.) One thing that's bugging me are the hooks set into the ceilings for plants to hang off. I probably won't get plants...in my experience, they crap leaves all over the room, the cats will try to eat them, and then I forget to water them, or I over-water them, or aphids come to live on them, and they die.

I was thinking about what I could hang off the hooks to make them look purposeful. I ordered a spherical Japanese lantern, and the mail carrier crammed it into my mailbox in such a way that I ended up with an ugly squashed potato of a thing. And then I started looking into some decorations I could make myself, maybe from vellum, since I used to be a crafty sort. I found a star. It looked interesting. I decided to practice with some green cardstock I had sitting around...

So...not only am I A LOT WORSE at crafts than I used to be...but evidently I only cut out six squares when I needed eight, so I can't even count.

And so the hooks remain empty.

Yesterday's Snippet: A Victor Bayne phone

Unfortunately, it doesn't receive communication from the spirit world. Or maybe that's for the best, since a text from beyond the grave would freak me the heck out.

Brand spankin' new PsyCop flash fic, The Waiting Game, in September's JCP News!

My car dealership has the best waiting room ever, we're talking a big fish tank, wi-fi, giant TV, popcorn machine, free ice cream, massages and manicures. I kid you not. It's like something out of a Saturday Night Live skit.

Even so, a waiting room is a waiting room. And when you're waiting for your car, it's always at least a little bit stressful.

Sometimes the sixth sense makes waiting easier...sometimes not.

Click here for the story, as well as important info on ordering your JCP paperbacks for GRL... (And OMG can there be more acronyms in this sentence? LOL.)

Crashtastic Q&A in JCP's Saturday Snippet

Happy Saturday, peeps! It's hot here, which is unusual in Wisconsin in the first week of September...so I'm sitting here in my sweat and cherishing the end of summer. Maybe I'll even take yet another dip in the pool.

More Q&A ensues in today's Saturday Snippet, which is all about PsyCop bad boy Crash....

crash-hand
The Q&A's have been more popular than I anticipated, so shoot me a question somewhere for future snippets if the spirit moves you :D

A Passage from Secrets

I'm giving Secrets a quick proofread as I prepare the files for their face-lift.This passage made me smile. It's fun to see how much Vic has learned about himself and his abilities between that book and Spook Squad.
____
“You know what the white balloon is?”
Lisa thought for a second. “You mean that trick they teach Psych kids?”
Not only kids. Sheesh. “Yeah. That one.”
“What about it?”
“I did it. I stopped him for a second. But then he waved it away and kept going.”
Lisa pulled up at a red light and drummed her fingers on the steering wheel. “How much energy did you put into maintaining it?”
“They don’t keep going? That’s real helpful.”
Lisa raised her eyebrows. “I thought you were trained.”
“Yeah, back in the old days when you had to walk to Psych-school barefoot, in the snow, uphill both ways.” And when the other students sometimes disappeared, because they’d ended up on the wrong side of an experimental treatment.
