Gamebook Friday: ACE Gamebooks en France
I realise that blog posts have been rather thin on the ground lately, and for that I apologise. However, it is because I have been very busy getting RONIN 47 ready for publication and simultaneously working on three other projects, as well as trying to organise Fighting Fantasy Fest 4.
However, today I have some rather exciting news about some of my other ACE Gamebooks. After the success of Alice au Pays des Cauchemars (or 'Alice in Nightmare Land'), Alkonost Editions are going to publish the next three titles in the series - The Wicked Wizard of Oz, NEVERLAND - Here Be Monsters!, and Beowulf Beastslayer - in French.
The three titles are part of a crowdfunding project, which is being run to bring about the publication of 11 gamebooks in total this year, and which goes live on Monday.
So, whether you are a Francophone or just a completist collector, make sure you check out the Ulule project here, and click the 'Notify me of Launch' button.

Ken Boyter is back this evening with the second part of his live readthrough of Dracula: Curse of the Vampire. He is tackling the adventure as Count Dracula, although he hasn't actually become Count Dracula yet. Tune in tonight, at 7:00pm GMT this evening, to see if he manages to make the transformation successfully.
And if you yet to grab a copy of the adventure yourself - which currently has 28 five star ratings on Amazon - you can buy a signed one direct from the author here.

Warhammer Wednesday: Tales from the Grim Darkness of the Far Future
Last week I alerted you to the old Warhammer short stories of mine that are still available to download as eBooks from the Black Library. This week it's the turn of my ever-popular Warhammer 40K tales.
All of the stories feature Space Marines of one kind or another. But Dust in the Wind has Imperial Fists facing off against Necrons, The Relic features Black Templars battling Orks, and Journey of the Magi sees Thousand Sons* versus more Necrons**.
So, if you haven't tried one of my Warhammer 40,000 stories before, why not check out one of these today?
* Yes, I know they're technically Chaos Space Marines.
** I just can't get enough of those undead robots!

Dracula: Curse of the Vampire LIVE - Part 1!
Ken Boyter is embarking upon another live readthrough of one of my ACE Gamebooks this evening. This time it's the turn of Dracula: Curse of the Vampire, and I believe he is going to be playing as the eponymous Count himself.
So if you've been wondering what all the fuss is about my latest ACE Gamebook, why not join Ken at 7:00pm GMT this evening, and find out?
And if you want to grab a copy of the adventure so that you can play along with him at the same time, you can buy a signed one direct from the author here.

Warhammer Wednesday: Tales from The-World-That-Was
My latest royalty statement arrived from last week*. What it highlighted to me is that a number of my old Warhammer stories - from what would now be referred to as 'The-World-That-Was' - are still available in eBook format, either alone or as part of larger collections.
If you would like a taste of my old school Warhammer writings, why not check out one of them today?
Hammer and Bolter Issue 9 contains my short story Sir Dagobert's Last Battle, which is one of the best Warhammer stories I think I ever wrote. Sticks and Stones appeared near the end of Warhammer's life, before it evolved into Warhammer: Age of Sigmar.
* Yes, I still earn a few pennies from sales of my BL stuff.

Happy Birthday, 2000AD!
Today marks the 45th birthday of the Galaxy's Greatest Comic - a.k.a. the British sci-fi, fantasy and horror anthology title
2000AD
. I have been collecting the comic since the early 1990s and have been a subscriber for many years. When times were tough I got rid of 100 or so comics from my collection and have always regretted having to do so.There is so much to love about 2000AD, although I am not a fan of some perennially popular strips. My favourites include Judge Dredd (of course), Nikolai Dante, Brink, Brass Sun, Kingdom... and those are just the ones that come to me now off the top of my head.
My work has actually appeared within the pages of 2000AD, once, when my festive tale Miracle on 34th and Peltzer appeared in Prog 1961 back in 2015. In 2020 it was reprinted in Judge Fear's Big Day Out and Other Stories, along with the Judge Dredd stories I wrote for the Judge Dredd Megazine.
I am fortunate that over the years I have got to work with a number of 2000AD artists. Usually it means that have provided a cover painting or internal illustrations for one of my books - most recently Neil Googe, Chris Weston, Simon Fraser, and Tazio Bettin - but some have actually illustrated comic strips I have written, such as Steve Yeowell on The Tale of the Hound.
I attended the 40th anniversary celebrations in London back in 2017, but for some reason the Imposter Syndrome was strong that day and so I barely spoke to anyone, even though many of the creators are known to me personally.
But tonight I shall be raising a glass in Tharg's honour and wishing 2000AD a very Happy Birthday. Here's the next 45 years!

Happy Twosday
In case you didn't know, Twosday is a once in a lifetime special event, because 22nd February 2022 can be written as 22/2/22!
22/2/22
I made a note to write this blog post back in March 2021 and was hoping to announce the first two-player ACE Gamebook , but it looks like that's going to have to wait for another year. Instead, I'm busy putting the finishing touches to RONIN 47 and starting work on two new projects this month. So maybe it is Twosday after all.
