Free CATWALKING DEAD print!

I’ve been trying to find a parody to do of “The Walking Dead” for a while. Yesterday, while watching that show with my cousin, I thought of a “catwalk,” and how it fit MGTZ really well!  I find it fits twofold, which I always like.  This is both because of a “catwalk” or “fashion runway,” and the “fashion zombie” aspect of MGTZ.  The other is a more literal sense of “cat,” in that Chelsea’s cat recently became a zombie, himself! [sorry for the spoilers if you've not read the Autumn 13 Special or my webcomics from October]

So, I got quick to work and made a facebook ad using the “My Cat, the Zombie,” image from the Autumn Special.  I colored it, added text, and ultimately did a runway background.  It’s even more fun since the font I used is the one from the original Heaven Forbid logo and is quite similar to the font for the Walking Dead comic.

But, I like this image so much that I don’t think that is enough!  Since we’re getting close to the $1,000 mark AND we’ve really been building momentum, I’d like to make an offer that is BACKERS ONLY!

IF we can reach the $1,000 mark by the end of BLACK FRIDAY, November 29, 2013, I’m willing to post the full professional high resolution print size [up to 11x17 at 450 dpi, meaning you could still print it full res even at 300 dpi larger] poster, for you, our backers.  You can print it at home. You can print it at Kinkos, Office Depot, Staples, or any professional print shop [for a buck or two].  You can do just about anything you’d like with it, but sell it.  I’ll even provide a certificate saying that you have permission from the copyright holder to duplicate it, since many print shops ask about that for artwork.

Also: think about how a print of this sort would sell for AT LEAST $20 from a print seller at a comic convention.  You can print it WHOLESALE for the same price I would pay to print and sell it!  That means even if you pay a couple bucks to print it, you’d be getting 90% off retail!

I think all of my updates so far have been public for anyone.  This one will selectively be for those who are already backers AND I have no plans to add this reward for anyone later in this campaign.  I’ll post the link to a secret URL for your quick and easy download.

So, tell your friends!  This poster would make a great holiday gift for that person who is hard to shop for.  Here’s a unique and fun item you will genuinely not find anywhere else!  But, I think I can only give this high res digital print away for free if we can hit $1,000 by Black Friday!  [I'll admit, I'm quite hesitant to do this since releasing professional print quality files is essentially unheard of in the art world- it means that you have the same version I have for publication!  But, I think I can trust my backers with it!  Oh my gracious!]

I had this idea while watching The Walking Dead with my family, which is still an oddity to me.  That there is a black and white, independent, horror comic which was made into a television show which my family watches together, is beyond me.  [not my daughter or wife, though.  they're not into it.  i'm especially surprised my aunt watches it!]

I already had this image in black and white, so I added the text.  I might make a specific fashion run way illustration later on.

Check out this great rendition of MGTZ by my good friend and fellow Colorado artist, Jason Montoya.  Jason draws one of the best horror comics on the market right now, Abigail: Curses and Demons.  They have two issues out and one is even at a digest size!  His black and white work is very strong, but I really love this one, especially with the water colors, roller skates, and flower.  See more about Abigail at https://www.facebook.com/CursesAndDemon and visit his website at jmontoyaart.blogspot.com.

He’s also working on a cool project called Baron Von Saturday and has lots of great merchandise.  I think it would be fun to do an Abigail/MGTZ crossover sometime.  Who knows.
