Review: The Third Target by Joel C. Rosenberg
The Third Target by Joel C. Rosenberg Summary: When New York Times foreign correspondent J. B. Collins hears rumors that an al-Qaeda splinter cell has captured a cache of chemical weapons inside Syria, he knows this is a story he must pursue at all costs. Does the commander of the jihadist faction really have the weapons? If so, who is the intended target? The U.S.? Israel? Or could it be Jordan? With tensions already high, the impending visit of the American president to the region could prove to be the spark that sets off an explosion of horrendous proportions. Knowing that terrorist forces have already toppled two regimes in the region, can Collins uncover the truth before it’s too late? Or will the terrorists succeed in setting their sights on the third and final target? My Thoughts Ever since reading The Auschwitz Escape, which I really liked, I’ve wanted to read more…

Clean Fiction Guarantee
I posted this CFG graphic on my Facebook author page, and other Christian authors and readers liked it so much, they started sharing it. Here it is on my website, in case others like it and want to share my message. I strongly believe in this message for my fiction.

Where Did All the Christian Readers Go?
Let me preface this post by making it clear that I’m a Christian author who writes Christian thrillers and suspense novels. (By Christian, I don’t mean Catholic but evangelical, in the sense that I believe the Bible and embrace God’s message of salvation by grace alone embodied in the sacrificial life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Characters in my novel frequently talk about God, pray, and wrestle with their faith in a faithless world.) I make no apology about this. When I write a story about hopefully realistic characters dealing with real-life issues, I find it impossible to do so without my faith entering the picture. Therefore, my stories are predictable in the sense that an inspirational or biblical theme becomes obvious in the story, whether it’s dealing with bitterness or simply learning to trust God more in the hard, sticky aspects of life. So imagine my surprise when…

My Love-Hate Relationship with When Calls the Heart
When it comes to wholesome, clean TV viewing, which is becoming a shrinking island every day, When Calls the Heart, a Canadian-American drama series based on Janette Oke’s novel of the same name from her Canadian West series, is a rare find. No bad language. No steamy bedroom scenes. Beyond a few dipping necklines, the women on the show are modestly dressed, and characters occasionally spout Bible verses or refer to prayer and God’s blessings. Not to mention the wonderful acting, period apparel (that one could argue isn’t always quite accurate to the period), the picturesque town of Hope Valley, and the pure entertainment of good storytelling. There is much to enjoy here. Best of all, our family can sit down for an episode and not have to worry about objectionable content being splashed on our screen or issuing from our speakers. A rare find, indeed. I’m excited whenever I…

Introducing Meaningful Suspense Press
In December, I received news that my current publisher of Fatal Illusions, Lighthouse Publishing of the Carolinas, had decided to give the rights back to me for the novel. This unexpected development led me on a path of having to learn the basics of self-publishing rather quickly so I could republish Fatal Illusions myself. Advice from several novelist friends led me down a road that soon became more involved than I expected, but thankfully God helped me sift through an avalanche of information and chart a workable path. Bottom line? I am happy to report that Fatal Illusions should be released within the next few days, with me as my own publisher. Introducing Meaningful Suspense Press. Once I weighed the pros and cons of self-publishing, becoming my own publisher made sense. Plus there are a good many advantages. For example, I can have a sale whenever I choose, and of…

Kill Order Set for Release in 2019
My latest novel (Lighthouse Publishing of the Carolinas) is due for release in late 2019; I hesitate to give the date because release dates notoriously change for me. The latest title is Kill Order. Don’t worry. There is no major body count in this novel, and I’m always sensitive about violence in what I write. I think the title will make more sense when you read the story. And I’m eager for you to. What’s this one about? Here is the back cover teaser. Kill Order When he sleeps, the past his mind erased comes alive … Grammy Award-winning pianist Landon Jeffers is at the height of his career when doctors discover a malignant brain tumor and give him only a few years to live. Desperate, he turns to a so-called miracle worker and agrees to the insertion of a medicinal brain implant. He feels better than he has in…

Book Review: Let’s Roll
Let’s Roll: Ordinary People, Extraordinary Courage by Lisa Beamer is a highly moving and inspiring book, with the right balance of harrowing details and faith elements to ground this true story in hope. For those unfamiliar with this story, Lisa is the wife of Todd Beamer, one of the many unsung heroes who perished on United Airlines Flight 93 a few minutes after ten a.m. on September 11, 2001, in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Evidence from phone calls before the plane went down reveals that Todd and other passengers on board determined to take back the plane from the terrorists; unfortunately, their efforts ultimately led to their deaths, yet their sacrifice undoubtedly spared many more lives than those lost on the plane. This is the story of what happened that day, particularly Todd’s role. Let’s Roll is in some ways Lisa and Todd’s life story, in another a gripping, detailed account of how heroic deeds…
