UPDRIFTby Errin StevensWhat if joining your lover's world meant leaving your own?
Kate will have to look hard at her man to determine what is real, what is illusion, and how, if ever, she can get back home.
Series: The Mer Chronicles
Genre: Paranormal Romantic Suspense
Publisher: Liquid Silver Books
Publication Date: November 2, 2015Ever since her father died, Kate Sweeting’s home life has been in the pits, her well being on life support. Her future looks desolate, too, until she and her mother make another plan: abandon their shriveled existence for more promising prospects on the coast, where Mom can play small-town librarian/bachelorette, and Kate can figure out what’s up with that secretive Blake family from the beach.Everyone is eerily captivated with Kate and her mother, and Cara is the first to figure out why when the man of her dreams arrives all dripping and devoted and closed-mouthed about what he intends. Kate is willing to go along with their subterfuge for a while, but eventually makes a charge for the water to learn what her mother is hiding. Gabe Blake is there waiting for her… and so is someone considerably less friendly. By the time Kate navigates her way home, everything will have changed for her – what she feels, what she wants, and what she will risk to be with the man she loves.

He pulled her with him to where the flashlight had landed, and while holding her against him, bent and snatched it from the floor. “I just want to know what the hell is going on around here.” He started to shine the beam of light around the room, searching for God knows what. It began to dawn on Annie that maybe he wasn’t the killer after all. Perhaps he was with the Security Company that took care of the building complex. Or, worst case scenario, he’d just been driving by and noticed a strange light flashing around the office and stopped to investigate—sticking his nose into something that was none of his business. Maybe he was an off duty police officer.
“Are you going to answer me?” the man growled.
“I have nothing…”
He snorted and dragged her around the room with him. “Nothing? Lady, you sure put up one hell of a fight over nothing.”
“You frightened me,” Annie said, her eyes darting to her office door and praying he didn’t insist on checking it out. She tried to will her body under control, but her heart was pounding like a jackhammer inside her chest. “Are you with security?”
“You might say that.”
Get it here!
Annie started to drag her feet when he headed straight for her office. If he noticed, he didn’t say anything, but continued pushing her ahead of him in that direction. When they reached the threshold, she actually leaned against him in an unconscious effort to keep him from entering the room.
“Please...” She couldn’t get the words out. The thought of Martin Strong on the floor on the other side of her desk made her stomach churn. “I can’t go back in there!”
She struggled to break the hold he had on her wrist. He was too big and strong to win against in a struggle, but if she could manage to pull away, speed might be on her side.
“Why not?” He pushed her further into the room. “What are you hiding?”
“Nothing…”
He gave a dissatisfied grunt. “Let me be the judge of that. Something’s going on and I intend to find out what it is.”
Helplessly, Annie watched as he shined the flashlight around the small office until the beam landed on a pair of shoes. Her heart sank. The more he pushed her into the room the more she strained against his unyielding form. He halted when they were close enough to see Martin’s body slumped against the wall, the beam of light zeroing in on the nice neat bullet hole in his chest.
“Damn...” he whispered against her ear as they stood above Martin.
Unbelievably, Annie felt his hold around her wrist begin to relax. She took advantage of his momentary lapse and slammed her heel down on top of his foot. He swore a blue streak when she pulled away from him. She heard the flashlight drop to the floor but didn’t let it stop her from her desperate flight.
She almost reached the door but it was over before it began. He caught up to her in the office doorway. She let out a blood-curdling scream when his hand tangled in her hair. Before she knew it, she was hauled back into his arms.
He slammed her against the wall and pinned her there with his body. Breathing hard, he took a moment to catch his breath. “No wonder you were in a hurry to get out of here,” he rasped, close to her face. “Who’s the stiff, honey?”
“You don’t understand!” Annie cried out desperately. She strained against his hold. “I was going for the police.” She had to make him understand.
“Yeah right, and I’m Santa Claus. That’s why you were running away.”

This is such a unique story! The blurb alone makes me want to read this book and once I started I couldn’t stop. The romance is both sweet and seriously hot. I’m thinking some ice water on the side while reading this story would not be a bad plan.- The TBR Pile
Viktor by Sarah Marsh is the first in the Happy Evil After series. I love this series!!! Dark fairies, humor, sizzling heat, and did I mention humor. This is one of those stories I did not want to end. I loved it and want more from this amazingly well written series. I'm only here for what's in the car," he said slowly walking towards her. She was a cute little thing, all soft curves with golden skin and hair."Ummm, yeah, about that … I'm what's in the car, Mr. Krescech. You have to take me with you out of here," she said almost nervously, those big green eyes pleading with him.Clearly, she was also insane. What was with the women he was running into this week? Viktor had had more than his fair share of groupies throwing themselves at him in the bars, wanting to take a walk on the wild side for a few hours, but this wholesome little beauty certainly didn't look like the type, so he had no idea exactly what she was asking him for."I don't think so," he said, moving past her towards the open back door to search the car."Seriously, there's nothing else in the car. They were taking me from my family and my pard to be married to Conrad. I have to go with you to get away from him," she continued, putting her tiny little hands on her very curvy hips in a way that distracted him far more than it should have.Interesting, so this little number was a leopard shifter? Viktor hadn't really had any interaction with the pard in this country, but by reputation, they were a good lot. Why on Earth would she agree to marry Conrad?"I don't rescue damsels in distress. I eat them," he said with a flash of fang. "So run along, little kitten."The tiny spitfire threw her hands dramatically up in the air and sighed loudly."You just saved me from a life of baby-making slavery. Aren't you supposed to whisk me away to your super-secret villain lair and ravish me? Sheesh, where's your follow-through?"Viktor just stood there and stared at her for a moment. He didn't know whether to laugh at her ridiculous statement or take her up on her offer and bend her over right here on the trunk of Conrad's car. He was extremely turned on by the fact that she didn't seem the least bit afraid of him. He'd always tried to pretend that his reputation in the paranormal community pleased him, that it helped him by keeping the rabble away. But deep down it bothered him that everyone always thought the worst of him. His honor was just yet another thing that Melisandre and Conrad had stolen from him when they took his mortality."Don't you know who I am, woman?" he finally said as she just stood there looking at him expectantly."Yes, I know who you are. Who else is capable of keeping me out of Conrad's douchy hands?"GiveawayWIN $15 AMAZON GIFT CARD

I recently went to Savannah Ga. and thought I'd share some pictures. It's really a beautiful, historic place and the great way to spend a long weekend if you're not too far away. It took us four hours to drive there. Parks, beautiful, old homes, historic tours, and lots of shopping. I wouldn't go again in the summer though, it was sweltering! A lot of walking was involved.
Luckily we didn't have to drive over this bridge, the picture doesn't do it justice.
Lady and Son's Restaurant We took the Paula Deen Tour about her rags to riches story and ended up here for dinner.
Where we ate lunch on River Street. Took us a whole day to walk the street and shop but it was worth it. The food at this place was excellent!
Paula Deen's first home. We were told her currant home, which we didn't get to see, is on the market for millions.
Famous Butler Authors House
This monument represents he largest unit of African American soldiers, free men, who volunteered in the American Revolution to capture Savannah from the British in 1779.

An Excerpt from the BookTake an inside look at Love At First Crepe. Read this sizzling excerpt from the book.Unfortunately, my sense of self-preservation seemed to be on vacation. I was completely frozen in fear, unable to move for what seemed like years. The giant didn’t move either, and I wondered why. Strangely enough, he seemed just as surprised as I was that he was in my living room. We looked at each other, his beady eyes visible through the holes of his ski mask. The synapses in my brain finally began to fire, and I jumped into action, kicking the intruder as hard as I could in the groin. He groaned in pain and clumsily took a swipe at me with the knife as he sank to his knees.I rolled out of his path and jumped swiftly to my feet. Unfortunately, the maneuver didn’t work exactly as I planned. I lost my towel in the process and was startled to remember that I was completely naked underneath. My lack of clothing was the least of my worries. I had far bigger fish to fry.I darted into the kitchen and ducked behind the counter. He rose slowly and lumbered toward me. Think, Willow, think! The man was huge, larger than any human I’d ever seen. I made a quick mental note that his terrifying size might also work against him. Conversely, I was small and quick, and I was determined to use these things to my advantage. I didn’t have much else. As he drew close to me, I sprinted back into the living room. Until I figured out what to do next, I had to stay out of his way.To be honest, I didn’t have much to offer in the strength department, and I fleetingly wished that I would have paid more attention to weight training at some point in my life. There was no time for regrets at that moment though, so I took quick stock of what I could use to fight back. There was a large paperweight on the table in the foyer. If I could get to that, I could smash him in the head with it. Of course, if I managed to get that far, I’d be better off running out the front door. I thought about my ballet classes and made a list of moves I could use for self-defense. Granted, it wasn’t much, but it was all I had.A grand battement might do the trick. I could bring my foot right up to his face and take him out, with my toes perfectly pointed of course. Given his size though, I doubted if my foot would reach that far. I groaned, wishing I had some martial arts experience instead. Ballet wasn’t exactly famous for its self-defense tactics, but it would have to do. Rich girls weren’t brought up to fight intruders. That’s what Dad paid the bodyguards to do.I jumped behind the couch, thankful that there was at least a large piece of furniture between me and the colossus. I was hopeful that one of my neighbors might overhear the altercation, although I knew that was a long shot. I could die there and no one would know until some unlucky neighbor smelled my rotting flesh from the hallway.GiveawayWIN $10 GC AND MORE!

Freebie Friday!
“I can take care of myself.” Lacey finally tugged away from him. “And you owe me for that bottle of perfume.” So much for their truce. She turned abruptly to leave. “You little hellcat.” His tone was low; the words ground out between his teeth. Chase’s hand encircled her arm, and he jerked her back to him. “You almost blind me with that stuff, and now you expect me to replace it?” He pulled Lacey even closer, until her breasts were crushed against his unyielding, naked chest. His hands were like steel bands around the flesh of her upper arms.
She caught her breath, her heart slamming in her chest. The heat from Chase’s body seeped into hers, drawing an immediate response. Lacey felt her nipples harden and tingle with excitement.
Something hot flowed through her aroused body, pooling between her thighs. The palms of her hands flattened against his chest; the lower half of her body arched into his as lust took control of her emotions. Fear that Chase would realize what he was doing to her nearly crippled her.
“Let me go.” Oh God. Was that her weak, pitiful voice?
Without warning, Chase’s hand was at the back of her head, his fingers threading through her loose hair and twisting it into a knot. A soft cry escaped Lacey when she found her head jerked back. Lightning revealed the raw passion etched on Chase’s chiseled face. The flaring nostrils, his prominent cheekbones, and tightly drawn lips left no doubts that he was as turned on as she was. The blaze in his eyes held Lacey’s gaze captive. Filled with an unspoken promise of what was to come. She could barely take a breath when he began to lower his face.
Get it here
!“I’ve been hard since the first time I laid eyes on you.” She felt his warm breath against her face.
“No…” Lacey’s heart was about to pound out of her chest. She should fight him, assert herself, and knee him in the groin. Something! She didn’t want this, did she? She opened her mouth to protest when he thrust his hips against her. Oh God!
“Yes!” His hoarse whisper held a hint of savageness to it, and before Lacey could do any of the things she was thinking, Chase’s mouth swooped down to steal her breath away with a scorching kiss.
She stiffened, but it didn’t last. He didn’t fight fair. While one hand held her head so he could kiss her at will, the other glided down Lacey’s back and over her bottom, squeezing a half-naked cheek while grinding his hard-on into her. A sob rose in her throat when she realized she was responding to his sexual attack and the forceful persuasion of his mouth.
“Chase,” she whispered when his mouth left hers to rain kisses down her throat. She closed her eyes and moaned, growing weak in the knees. “No…”
“No, don’t kiss you?” His lips brushed the curve of her jaw. “No, don’t touch you?” His mouth moved on to tease the flesh of her neck. Lacey trembled wildly. “No, don’t make love to you?”
Before Lacey realized his intention, he tugged at the spaghetti strap of her camisole and pulled it down until her breast was bare. The sound that escaped him left no doubt that he was close to the end of his limit. He cupped her flesh and pulled it up at the same time, lowering his head until his mouth was on her.

Morning Coffee
My 6 year old grandson likes to make me coffee in the morning before he leaves for day camp. The only problem is the single serve cup maker doesn't always fill the oversized cups. So in his little mind, he thinks that he has to fill the rest of the cup up with creamer. lol He's a little sweetheart!
