FREE! Big, Black and Beautiful
This only lasts one week folks so get it while you can at Coffee Time!
“Open up the door!” Tony waited about a minute, his patience wearing thin. He knew Shelly was inside, and he was pissed at her for making him come all this way. If she’d just answered the phone like a normal person he’d still be home in bed, getting laid by the hot chick he’d met at the bar. “Damnit, Shelly! Open the door before I break a window! I know you’re in there!”
“Go away!”
He could tell by the sound of her voice that she’d been crying. “No. Now open the door. I want to make sure you’re okay.”
“I’m okay.”
“Then why didn’t you answer your damn phone? I’ve been calling all day.”
Silence, before she said in a reluctant, slightly apologetic tone, “I turned my phone off.”
“Yeah, I figured that out after about a dozen tries.” Tony leaned against the door, frustrated and tired as hell. As soon as he’d found out that she and Peter had broken up he’d been trying to get a hold of her. As far as he was concerned she could do a hell of a lot better than a pretty-boy accountant who wore a different color sweater vest every day of the week.
Sweater vests for Christ’s sakes.
Ever since Tony’s best friend, and Shelly’s brother, Steve, had asked him to look out for her while he was in Iraq, he’d become her stalker. Well, not exactly a stalker, but Tony had taken Steve’s request seriously. He’d kept close tabs on her.
“Come on, honey.” Tony decided to try a different tactic since his He-Man attitude didn’t seem to be working. “Let me in. I have to pee.”
“Go behind a bush,” was Shelly’s response.
“Damnit, Shelly!” So much for that, Tony’s anger was simmering too close to the surface for him to hold it back. “I didn’t come all the way here to talk to you through a door.”
“You shouldn’t have come here at all. I’m a big girl, Anthony. My brother had no right to ask you to babysit me.”
Tony released a harsh breath and leaned his forehead against the door. She knew that he hated when people used his full name. “I swear to God, if you don’t open this fucking door—” He heard the click that indicated that Shelly had unlocked it, but he knew she wouldn’t open it, she was just that stubborn. By the time he opened the door, Shelly was walking away from him.
“Come on in Mr. Big, black and beautiful,” she said in that teasing tone she used whenever she called him that.
Tony’s gaze automatically fell to her ass, admiring the way the soft roundness filled out the sweats she was wearing. Shit, don’t go there, man. She’s off limits. He closed and locked the door.
“See?” Shelly tossed over her shoulder, the wild waterfall of her thick, auburn curls bouncing with the movement of her head. God, she had great hair. “I’m okay.”
Tony could tell by her tone that she wasn’t. He caught up to her and reached for her arm. “No, you’re not.” He forced her around to face him, his gaze dropping to what she had in her hands. “Oh, hell no, you’re not doing this, baby.” He reached for the quart of ice cream, noticing that it was half gone. “You’ll regret this in the morning.”
“How do you know?” Shelly asked as they as they went back and forth, each trying to take control of the container.
“Because I know you.” It was true. Tony and Steve had grown up as best friends, and had spent a lot of time at each other’s houses. Shelly was only three years younger than them, but she’d always been around when he was at their home. Over the years he’d seen a lot, including that she always seemed to pick the wrong men.

Oh Hell No!
Today was a busy day for me, starting with a doctor's appointment where I learned I've lost 12 pounds. When I first entered the office I couldn't help but notice a handsome, tattooed up bad boy (in my mind) waiting to be called to the back. He was called about one minute before I was, yet I was still surprised to see him sitting in a chair right next to the (gasp!) scale, where he would have a great view of just how high that damn thing could go once I stepped onto it. Took one look at him and said, "Oh hell no! I'm not gettin' on that thing while he's sittin' there in that chair!"

Shake my way to good health
I don't mean exercise either. I hate exercise, always have, Mostly because I have a degenerative disease in my spine which effects my hips and legs, partly because I'm lazy. Well, hell folks, I worked forty plus years and only the last fifteen were spent at a desk job. Most of my working career had always been extremely physical.
Okay, got off the track a little. When I say I'm gonna shake my way to health I mean the health food shakes you can make at home in the blender. I'm in the middle of a mid-life crisis because I'm turning sixty at the end of this year, and my best friend has just been diagnosed with incurable cancer. Fact is I need to get healthy. I'm not dieting. Just eating healthier. Spent a fortune at the grocery store on all this kale, flax seed, yogurt, fruit and veggies, wheat spaghetti and thin sandwich rolls giving up what I love most, white spaghetti and bread. Any kind of bread, Oh, I also got a stack of those little round white pancake thingies that are good for burritos. I just stuff them with a little beans and rice, fiesta corn and jalapeno peppers.
I'm not going to beat myself up if I have a bad day either, and let the feeling that I might as well eat all I want because I've already ruined it by eating that bowl of ice cream. I'm not going to deny myself that juicy burger or pizza if the feeling comes over me. I'm just making healthier choices, burger without fries kind of thing, so I don't feel like I'm being punished.
I'm voluptuous, was born voluptuous, have spent about ninety percent of my life voluptuous and will probably die voluptuous. Who said you can't be voluptuous and not healthy? My goal, please God let me do it right this time, is to yes, lose some weight, and get off my meds. That's not unrealistic, is it?
It's been about a month so far and I feel the difference. I'm not going to let it go to my head though because I have a super long way to go. Honestly, I don't care if I only lose twenty-five or fifty pounds as long as I feel better and I get off the meds.
First health shake I've ever made. It tastes as bad as it looks. Well, it should. I had no idea what I was doing. Three cups of fresh kale, four tablespoons of organic flax seed and some other crap. lol I tried to blend it dry, didn't know you were supposed to add liquid to it. Finally added some milk. Forced myself to drink the whole thing down. Been picking kale out of my teeth ever since! Have gotten much better at it! Now I add fruit, ice and water, I find I like it better if it's more like a drink and less like a thick shake.

Easter Sunday Memories
First let me start out by saying that I hope all of you have a happy Easter weekend. I'm sure we all have wonderful childhood memories of what our Easter Sundays were like, going to church all dressed up in our new clothes, egg hunts, fancy baskets full of goodies, special dinners.I have three fond memories of my Easters. When my hubby was alive and I worked I always took that Sunday off so I could make us a nice ham dinner, just the two of us. Earl loved to make home made split pea soup with the bone later in the week.
Another memory, believe it or not, was when I first discovered that the Easter Bunny was really my dad. During the weekends we were able to spend with him our bedrooms were upstairs in my grandmother's old farm house. He had a closet in which a curtain was used for the door. My sister and I got snoopy and discovered our huge, Easter baskets stashed in that dark closet. We never told him.
Then there was my first memory of getting ready for Easter when my daughter was little, it was to be her first one. Her daddy had come from a large family of nine siblings so you can imagine they didn't receive the expensive made-up baskets in the stores. He talked me into doing a basket for her in stead of purchasing a ready made. I can remember just tossing full bags of jelly beans, chocolate eggs, a bunny in the box, and those Marshmallow peeps still in the box, inside the basket on top of the fake grass. Her daddy got a huge laugh because I 'd left everything in their packages. Looked much better after opened everything up and spread it around the grass.
Share some of your memories.
