Want to Go to Africa?

Well, I would love to! After just setting a book in Zimbabwe (Close Quarters), my travel bug is on, but Africa is not in my near future, I'm sorry to say. However, we can all experience it through the eyes of an amazing photographer, who has just left for her journey to Kenya.

She has volunteered to work with a local non-profit group offering micro-enterprises to women in both Kenya and the Middle East. Another female author is in the process of writing a book giving these women a voice, and M...

Mine & Hubcap's Favorite Commedian

Guess what??? I finished the book! Finally. It wasn't the book, it was everything else going on that made it so hard to actually write anything, but the book took longer than anything has to write in a long time. I'm really pleased with it. My editor is really pleased with it. And that's a lovely, lovely thing!

So, I'm taking a few days off. While I'm away at the swank hotel and doing a spa treatment (okay so it's the romantic weekend away I gave Hubcap for V-day, but I'm still going to...

Transitions...or lack thereof...

I've been thinking again...uh oh! :) I've just read so much lately that certain things are hitting me over and over until I actually wake up thinking about them. Like the lack of transitions, especially in so many of the small press books I read.

You all know I read a ton of eBooks, both from the big NY publishers and the small presses. And something has really started frustrating me - it's the lack of transitions from one scene to the next. I can't decide if the issue is an editing one, a...

Kate Duffy Memorial Fund

As some of you may know, many of us lost a dear friend and truly special editor a few months back. Kate Duffy was an author advocate and helped more of your favorite authors than you can imagine get their start in romance. Here are the deets:

The Kate Duffy ...
