It's the most wonderful day of the year because …

On December 5, 1997, Walt and I were married by the local justice of the peace, with his father, stepmother, and son and my No. 1 Daughter in attendance (my son and #2 daughter both had the flu). Also in attendance my best friend, author Jan Freed and her husband Gerald who made a video of the ceremony (need to watch that today).

It's been a wonderful romantic twelve years of being married to my new best friend (sorry Jan). We made a vow to stick together for forty (we were both in our late...

We take what we can get and call it cold

December 4, 2009 Houston Texas SNOW

This is the century plant that sits behind our house with our tomato cages and other yard crap. Right now, it's pretending it's a cold night in the desert and it's hunkering down. Yes, for only the 34th time since 1895, we're getting snow down here near the equator. Why is this so exciting? Well, most years at Christmas we're barefoot and running the air conditioner while opening gifts. In fact, this year we haven't even yet turned on the central heat except to run a couple of times for...

Jingle Bell Rock, come and get it!

I went digging through my office supply closet this morning and found I have four padded mailers, so that means I can give away four books today. And since it's the holiday season, I'm going to give away four copies of my first novella written for Kensington Brava, Jingle Bell Rock, A Blue Christmas by Alison KentA BLUE CHRISTMAS in the anthology JINGLE BELL ROCK. Now, since this came out in trade in 2003, contained stories by six authors, was re-released in mass market format in 2005, and all the authors got like a gazillion copies to...

O Christmas tree! O Christmas tree!

O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree!

Much pleasure thou can'st give me;

O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree!

Much pleasure thou can'st give me;

How often has the Christmas tree

Afforded me the greatest glee!

O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree!

Much pleasure thou can'st give me.

We've had an artificial tree since the Great Asthma Attack of 1983 when we had dozens of family members...

December 1, 2009

Welcome to my Christmas!

Did I overdo with the decorating? I was going back to my regular black and white and red theme but then decided, no. It's time for a bit of frivolity. Christmas at my house is all about the snowmen and the reindeer and the Santa ornaments and figurines. I bought a passel of new ones while out shopping on Saturday. I also picked up a head cold from exposure to PEOPLE. Ack! This is one of the positives of being a writing hermit. Limited germs!

This is the first year I've reached December and...

Step aside Twilight, romance writers were here first!

If you were online at all the last couple of weeks, you probably saw this image floating around. (And if you spend much time at Fark, you may have seen this version, too.)

If these were 40 year old men screaming for 17 year old girls, someone would call the police.

I shook my head along with a lot of others (did you know there's a site for Twilight Moms? with 34K or so members?), but then I finally picked up my November 15th issue of New York Magazine and read the article the image came from.

For me, this was the takeaway line:

Twilight reinvents sex for women who might have placed it...

Happy Thanksgiving!

May your stuffing be tasty

May your turkey be plump,

May your potatoes and gravy

Have never a lump.

May your yams be delicious

And your pies take the prize,

And may your Thanksgiving dinner

Stay off your thighs!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Not to BRAG or anything . . . (but I am!!!!)

WITH EXTREME PLEASURE is the NUMBER ONE bestselling contemporary romance at Amazon, whoo-hoo, at least for the next five minutes or so, but I've captured the moment for posterity. (It's down to 20-something on the Kindle list now, having reached #7 there, but I love seeing it on the main list, yay!)

With Extreme Pleasure #1 Amazon Contemporary Romance Bestseller

Also, it's the NUMBER FIVE bestselling romance overall; again, in five minutes things will change, but I have PROOF that it's almost as in demand as New Moon! ::snort::

Oh, look! A New Release! Excerpts! A Giveaway!

With Extreme PleasureWITH EXTREME PLEASURE releases TODAY! (And it's no longer free on the Kindle, so my days of ruling the Kindle Bestseller list are done; hey, does that mean I can officially call WITH EXTREME PLEASURE a national bestseller?!?!?!?) (Oh, and btw, both of those links will give you an excerpt.)

I love WITH EXTREME PLEASURE because I LOVE Kingdom Trahan. He came on the scene early in NO LIMITS and almost stole the book from Simon Baptiste. I had to slap him down a few times and let Simon have his...
