This is true love. You think this happens every day?
With the launch of HCI Books' True Vows line just days away, I thought I'd stop talking about my own book, and give a shout out to my fellow launch authors, Julie Leto and Judith Arnold. One thing I love about all our books is how perfect our titles are. Obviously, THE ICING ON THE CAKE works metaphorically, but it also works because of my couple's bakeshop! In Judith's book, her couple get together in Manhattan for a reunion after a long ago high school romance, ergo, MEET ME IN MANHATTAN...

Changing Names Mid-Stream
I've been writing on a new project, and it's going well enough, but something about it has always felt a little . . . distant, I guess. Like I was outside looking in instead of telling the story through the eyes of the characters. Though, really, it was just one character giving me trouble. The other two viewpoints zinged. I loved writing their scenes. And I loved writing most of the third character's scenes, too, but they didn't feel right. Which, in a way, is okay. This character is the...

Veil of Shadows by Shiloh WalkerAnd what do you intend to do when you find him? she asked herself silently.
Her belly clenched. "Is jumping him an option?" she mumbled.
"Jump who?"
Even the sound of his voice, low and smooth and deep, made her shiver. The icy knot inside dissolved, just like that. Just that e...

So I got new glasses . . .
I've been wearing glasses since I was 21, but it wasn't until the last time I renewed my driver's license that I was required to wear them to drive. I am totally farsighted. I've never been able to see anything close up because of my hyperopia. So imagine what has been going on with my eyesight as I get older. I think I got my first pair of progressive bifocals maybe ten years ago? Really don't remember. Just know I've had more and more trouble seeing things in front of my face, while things ...

The Family in Ink
When Sam was born in 2007, his dad got a tattoo with his name and birth date, a good luck horseshoe. When Charlie Grace came along in May of this year, he added a dove with her name. Not long after, he immortalized his wife with a ball and chain. ;)
This past weekend, we had a family dinner, celebrating my birthday and Taylor's, which had both been earlier in the week. I knew from his Facebook status that Casey had added a new tat on Friday, so I was pleased to see I'd been added to the...

Pretty Cupcakes! Pretty Cover!
I totally LOVE this photo from a recent article about my couple, Todd and Michelle Bracken, from The Icing on the Cake. I need to order a print and frame it!
Frosting owners Michelle Snow Bracken and Todd Bracken got married this past New Year's Eve. They found each other on Match.com, and have had a veritable whirlwind romance ever since. Such a serious romance, in fact, that a publisher approached them and proposed to write a book about their story.
And that book, The Icing on the Cake by...
