Thursday Night Write – Prompt

[image error]I can't remember the last time we did a prompt for TNW, but tonight's as good a night as any. I know it's not as easy as Open Mic where you can post an example of your existing work, but letting your brain loose to create something with no rules or expectations is a great way to keep your writing brain in shape.  Even if you start without a lot of enthusiasm, I think you'll find that by the time you're done, you feel invigorated and able to bring something fresh to your existing writing...

A Short Journey Into the Real World

As a writer, I admit that I often prefer my fantasy worlds to reality. As beautiful as the real world is, I like escaping to my imagined worlds and the imagined worlds of other writers.

And sometimes, I think I spend more time THERE than I do HERE.

But today, I'm going to take a brief foray into the real world. And you're coming with me! WOOT!

Wait… where'd you guys go?! *looks around*

Seriously, I've been thinking about yesterday's Breaking News that the economy "officially" ended in June of...

Ignorance is NOT Bliss

By now, I'm sure most of you don't even need an introduction to the train wreck that is Wesley Scroggins outcry over books like Slaughterhouse Five, Twenty Boy Summer, and Speak.

If you happened to miss, the ruckus, you can find it here.

I'm going to keep my contribution short and sweet, because so much has already been said (I agree with almost all of it) and I didn't want to pre-empt our Anonymous Teen Reader yesterday (she waited MONTHS for her post to appear) by posting sooner.

Of course...

A Simple Plan, Harry Potter, and Darkness

POS HiRes Med

Today's Anonymous Teen Reader is Scribbleword!

And no. I did NOT pay her to choose this photo.

:D

Most of you will recall that this was the original cover for Prophecy of the Sisters, and my Anonymous Teen Reader has been a VERY loyal fan ever since then. Emphasis on the word VERY!

So I'm honored to present her as this week's Reader. She's a warm, wonderful, sincere young woman and I just know you'll love her every bit as much as I do.

JUST THE FACTS

Friday Poll; All about Shoeeees!

[image error]One of my favorite things about Fall is the opportunity to wear different clothes. When I lived in California, it was pepertually Spring and Summer. We could wear jackets and boots in the Winter, but the truth is, I always felt a little silly. And sometimes hot.

Hot as in over-heated, not hot as in smokin!

:D

Anyway, for me, Fall means long-sleeve shirts, boots, and jackets. Personally, I have a weakness for jackets.

But I also know lots of people who would wear flip-flops, shorts, and tanks all ...

What a Dress!

[image error]I realized today that it's been awhile since I've given you guys a great dress. Then I came across this one and HAD to post it!

How gorgeous is this? And is it my imagination or does this girl look a little like Lia and Alice?

Check out some more great dresses from Romantic Threads, the seamstress behind this magnificent creation. I'm in awe of her talent!

Guardian of the Gate Tour Rundown

First, a disclaimer.

I rarely take pictures at my own events. In fact, I'm pretty terrible at taking pictures anywhere. I actually forgot to take a camera on tour, which wasn't surprising to me at all. I'm usually too in the moment at any given time to step out of it and take a picture. Meet-ups with fans and other authors aren't photo opportunities to me, and I'm usually having too much fun visiting to pause, point, and click.

But I'll give you my tour rundown anyway! You can imagine it...

Sorry for the late Anonymous Teen Reader, but I arrived home from tour late last night and am still getting settled. I promise you a full tour report tomorrow, but for now, it's on to this week's Anonymous Teen Reader, Jean. I didn't get a photo for Jean, so I'm posting it as is. I think her interesting answers will more than make up for the lack of graphic!

Free Hugsssss!

Those of you who have been to my events know that I give more than CDs, bookmarks, and posters away.

I give HUGS!

That's because I'm a firm believer that EVERYONE can use a hug, and I make it a point to give a hug to each and every online friend who comes to one of my events (if I haven't met the person before, I usually won't because, yanno, I don't want to seem like Crazy Hugger Lady).

Since so many of you live outside the area served by the Guardian of the Gate Tour, I'm offering up one of...
