Searching For Sugar Man

If you are looking for an alternative to the big summer movies there's a great music documentary out called Searching For Sugar Man. It explores the mystery of what happened to a musician who in South Africa in the 1970s was as big as the Beatles and then disappeared without trace...

Bourne Again

This week there's a new Bourne movie out but Jason Bourne's not in it. Is it OK to have a franchise where the hero or heroine is notable by their absence?

Weather Proof

There's a strong belief among industry analysts that cinema attendance owes a lot to the weather. I reckon that if you're a real film fan it doesn't matter - what do you think?

The End Is Nigh

There's a quirky little film out this week called Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World. It got me thinking about other movies that depict the total extinction of the planet - what are your favourite final reckonings?

Long range reviews

After an advance screening of The Sweeney recently a national newspaper published their review early - which annoyed the distributors greatly. Do you think it's OK to report films months before they are out or should critics wait until release?
