Review: Catching Fire (The Hunger Games #2)

Catching Fire (The Hunger Games, #2) Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

On the back cover of the book, the New York Times Book Review says, "Collins has done that rare thing. She has written a sequel that improves upon the first book." This sentence cannot be truer. Catching Fire has that intensity and fast-moving pace that makes it such a rare and enjoyable read. There are cliffhangers at exactly the right places and the story takes such a good twist. All the events were unexpected and the book was literally unputdownable. It's at the top of my recommendations list. Can't wait to read the third book in the series!

Review: The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1) The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

When I first read of the concept of the Hunger Games in the book, I thought it would go on to the end of the third book, with two major cliffhangers at the end of the first two books, with Katniss fighting like a bull, much unlike her character. However, I was in for a pleasant surprise when I saw that the Hunger Games were done by the end of the first book, yes, with a major cliffhanger. Now I'm super curious to read the other books. The Hunger Games universe was well-planned and detailed, and the plot of the story was engrossing. The people of the Capitol were not all bad, and this was what I liked most about the book. My favorite characters are Cinna and Caesar, for all the support they give Katniss. All in all, this is a must-read. I can't believe I spent several years thinking that the Hungers Games weren't worth the read, and I'm glad I was proved wrong.

Review: Sita (Ram Chandra #2)

Sita: Warrior of Mithila (Ram Chandra #2) Sita: Warrior of Mithila by Amish Tripathi

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved this book! In my opinion, it's the best book in the Ram Chandra series. Kudos to Amish sir for making such a page-turner. Sita's character here is just so much better than the original one. She stands up for herself. This is one of the reasons why she's one of my favorite literary characters. This book is definitely a must-read.

Review: The Magic of the Lost Temple

Magic Of The Lost Temple Magic Of The Lost Temple by Sudha Murty

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

All in all, the story was great. However, it felt a little too extended, as though certain parts were there only to make the book longer. The main story starts only in the last one-fourth of the book. However, I feel that the previous chapters all gave good insights into who the characters actually were, which made the book more interesting.

Review: The Haunter (Goosebumps Most Wanted)

The Haunter (Goosebumps Most Wanted Special Edition, #4) The Haunter by R.L. Stine

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The book's twists were great and unique, but at the end, I felt like there had to be more to the story and that it was incomplete, which is why I'm giving it only three stars. However, the story in general is great and I really liked it.

Review: The JAZ Gang and The Mystic Warrior

The JAZ Gang & The Mystic Warrior (The JAZ Gang Series Book 2) The JAZ Gang & The Mystic Warrior by Vaishnavi Anantha

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was wonderful, and if possible, more interesting than the previous instalment in the series! The research that the author has put into this is clearly seen. We get to learn several new things along the way while enjoying the story. Plus, at the end, the cliffhanger was really well-placed. Can't wait for the third book to come out!
