How to love your period
A long time ago in a forest far, far away, women gathered to celebrate.
They lit candles and sat together in a ceremonial circle under the new moon.
What were they celebrating?
Their period.
It was considered a sacred time; every month women bled in sync with the new moon and during this phase of their menstrual cycle they had heightened intuition and could communicate more closely with the divine. These 'Witches' were revered by the whole community.
That was in the BP (Before Patriarchy) days.
Afraid of the power these women held, Patriarchal systems and structures began to systematically cull 'Witches' and feminine symbols, including '666', were demonised.
Women were forced to turn against one another and turn away from their connection with the moon, her cycles, and their cycles (including their menstrual cycle).
Instead of celebrating it, most women now curse this 'time of the month' as one big bloody inconvenience.
We hustle on through 'do do do-ing' on ourselves despite being curled over with excruciating cramps, all whilst feeling uneasy about that square of chocolate we've constantly craving.
Not only is our health suffering (fertility and reproductive issues are at an all time high, and women come to me on a daily basis burnt out and exhausted);
We don't feel whole.
As a result, we turn to social media, food and alcohol, shopping and personal development programs trying to find the answer to what we're missing.
And when we don't?
We move on to the next thing.
Maybe you can relate.
Honestly, I was the same until I realised what I really craved was the connection I'd lost with my body and the cyclic feminine powers held within her via years of societal conditioning, BS (beliefs and stories), and self-abusive behaviours I thought were helping me to 'succeed' in my health, career and relationships.
Over the last couple of years, I've met so many high-achieving women just like you and I who feel like something is missing, who deeply long to reconnect with the magic held within our incredible female bodies.
That's why in my new book, Reclaim the Witch (due to be released in October this year), I discuss how to connect with your cyclic powers so that you can step into your most magical self and truly learn to love your body - yep; even your period.
