An orphan who had no clue about her supernatural powers, Chess is still playing catch-up in the hidden village of Loobly, where she inherited an ancient library. Just when she and her cat Kafka are beginning to feel at home in this magical realm, someone dumps her worst enemy’s body on her property.
Now people with a grudge against her family are trying to pin the blame on her. They’ve even hired a self-styled prophetess to issue bizarre predictions. On Chess’s side are an encrypted book of knowledge that only she can read, a belligerent tree with vision-inducing fruit, and a handsome detective. Not to mention a posse of clever cats led by her feline buddy!

A Giveaway, and a Request!
First the good news: Sept. 24-28 (Tuesday-Saturday), I'm giving away The Doc's Double Delivery on Amazon. This is a lighthearted romantic comedy and I hope you enjoy it! (It will remain free to Kindle Unlimited subscribers until December 1).
Now a request: If you read it and like it, please post a review, however brief. So far only one person has clicked Two Stars--but no review at all, so no indication if someone actually disliked it or was just being mean. As a result, anyone who sees the book's page assumes it's not very good.
I can take criticism and I respect a reader's right to have their say. But that's not what this is.

New reissue on Kindle Unlimited
It's been a busy summer for most of us, with the Olympics and all the election-related drama in the U.S. I've been writing the second book in my Forgotten Village Magical Mystery series, A Cat's Nose for Murder. The first draft is finished, but there's more work to be done!
In the meantime, I regained the rights from Harlequin to my romantic comedy, The Doc's Double Delivery. After some updating, I've posted it on Amazon, available free to Kindle Unlimited subscribers for three months.
