“Who would have thought wearing masks would turn out to be a symbol of liberalism? Who would have thought that masks would be debated so vigorously on par with immigration, tax and foreign policy?”
Surya Sree

“We ungodly, fearless men are valuable, in the sense that our sinful actions enable those of you who are godly- those of you who are reluctant to commit certain actions- those of you who’d rather keep your hands clean in a world where there is so much dirty, daring and detestable work to be done. We are the honorary sinners and we’ll do it for you.”
Surya Sree

“Is history simply a march towards more people having more rights?
Or more people being oppressed in a more pragmatic, rational, institutionalized way?”
Surya Sree

“I realize that the world is rattled by events that are amazing and awful, charming and ghastly. Try as I might, I cannot reconcile the difference; I am, however, willing to believe that these contradictions do not repudiate each other.

Life is so hard, yet so beautiful.”
Surya Sree

“Sometimes I wish I was part of the oyster club, sipping tea and breaking bread along with Adam Smith, Benjamin Franklin, philosopher David Hume and James Watt. In other times, I also wish I was a member of the anarchist faction that torched Spain in the 20century.”
Surya Sree

“Honour killing is not an obsolescent relic of a primeval past, rather it is a delicate issue that has survived despite the age of reasoning, the industrial revolution, and a myriad of constitutional reforms.”
Surya Sree

“There are potentially 2 ways to handle the climate crisis. We can either continue hoping that the catastrophe is preventable, and become enraged when the world around us fails to act. Or we can acknowledge the looming threat and begin to reexamine what it means to have hope”
