At a fabric store
Red and blue and gold and green
Neatly stacked as I have seen
Shawls and shirts and frocks
Shorts and drag and socks
Muslin and wool and silk
Rough as stone, smooth as milk
Flurries of colours and texture galore
A magic, rainbow fabric store

Palm Fronds and Lily Ponds
The calmly rippling lily decked ponds
Are shadowed by gently waving palm fronds
To behold such an exquisite delight
Blessed* must be my sight
Lilting songs sung by many a nightingale
Can make the best instrumental pieces seem stale
Clearing anger from the mind
The melodies are irreplicable as you will soon find
A fruity mango scent swirls through the ether
Mingling with wafting cinnamon and fresh plucked heather
From the heather fields yonder
Where no lion nor tiger dares wander
* Pronounced bless-ed not bless-d

The Three Little Elves
The Three Little Elves
Once, there were three young little elves
Who lived with their mother in the shoe shelves
They liked to laugh and tease and play
Till their poor old mother wouldn't let them stay
She told them to build themselves new shoes in which to live
So, they decided to see what the old shoemaker would give
And so they went to old Mr. Donnell and asked for material
He told them they'd have to pay, then 'twas a done deal
The first little elf was quite the mercenary
He wouldn't spend any more than necessary
So, he bought himself some rags and wood
And he began to build
The second little elf, loved beautiful things
He was one to soar on imagination's fanciful wings
So, he bought himself some flowers and ivy
And he began to build
The third little elf was very practical
He knew he should be very tactical
So, he bought himself some leather and a shoelace
And he began to build
After they finished, they went to their mother
Who smiled and told them she was proud of every brother
But when they got back they had had a shock
The first two brothers' houses looked like they'd been hit by a giant rock
The bad fairies had wrecked them
But the third shoe was unbreakable
And so, the three elves lived in the third house
Happily ever after

Corona
COVID-19
A malady so deadly and new
Yet oh- so close to the cold and flu
With about or over 2800 deaths a day
Boy, oh boy are things looking grey
But as in all times black, there is a spot of light
If we stay home, we may delay the virus' might
Take the vaccine, wear a mask
That is your preventive task
Be careful, don't let it catch you off- guard
As you know, it is quite a wild card
The new virus targets children under fourteen
Use your preventive measures to make yourself invisible, unseen
Walk of Life
Life is a stroll through an enchanted wood
In which there there many parts, bad and good
Some wolves roam, trying to hurt you
But some fairies flutter about, granting wishes too
There is much colour, myriads of flowers
But not all are harmless, fun bowers
Some hold poison deep within
These are those angels that would sin
Appearances can be deceiving
One must be careful of what they are receiving
Sweetest flowers can contain a bane
Same as the roughest bears can cause no pain

Stage Fright
The bright lights of the stage blind me
My lips form an 'oh', mind clouds with worry
A melody on the cusp of my tongue
The lyrics waiting to be sung
My smile falters as my mind blanks
Good thing I have a chorus to cover my flanks
They sing longer than needed, as I freak in my head
My understudy gives my the side-eye, ready to sing in my stead
I open my mouth and close it once more
The song! I remember! My spirits soar
A soft lilting voice fills the air. Mine!
A smile graces my face, I'm doing well, it's all fine
