Original Song - The Thunders

The Thunders

Hey all! I wanted to share with you this song I wrote a while back. I was hoping to record it at some point, but I don't know when I'm going to have the time and money to dedicate to that—I've just got so much else going on in my life that it doesn't seem practical right now. That being said, I still felt a push from God to share these songs I've been sitting on for years, so here's one for you. Expect more to come!

Podcast + New Song

Between Lewis & Lovecraft

What's up nerds?! If you're like me and you actually enjoy listening to other people nerd out in long-form, then might I suggest subscribing to Between Lewis & Lovecraft?

Oh yeah, and by the way, I happen to be the guest on the latest episode that just dropped today!

Tyler and I talk about everything from music to writing to movies and comics to poetry and plotting novels, and we even spend an excessive amount of time on the probably-cliche-by-now metaphor of building toasters.

I talk about my attempts at juggling 800 things at the same time and Tyler explains how he ended up named after a truck. We have a riveting conversation about our preferred word processors, and I even play an original song at the end. It's an original song called Hard Knock School that has never been recorded or played live for an audience, so this is the first time I've played this one in public.

Enjoy!

Nightbirde: A Poem

Scroll down to listen as I read my poem, "Nightbirde" inspired by Jane Marczewski. If you are not familiar with Nightbirde, here is a little background, though I would recommend clicking here to watch her America's Got Talent (AGT) performance first, and then come back to watch this video.

In 2021, Nightbirde auditioned for AGT and received a golden buzzer from Simon Cowell for her performance of her original song "It's OK". The song became No. 1 on iTunes and No. 2 trending on YouTube.

After the performance, she revealed that was dealing with some cancer in her lungs, spine and liver with an expected 2% chance of survival.

After the auditions, Marczewski withdrew from the competition, citing her health worsening and therefore needing to focus on her battle with cancer.

I had been told so many times I had to watch this video, and when I finally did, I was filled with so many emotions that this poem just spilled out onto the page, and I decided to read it for you here.

Safeship Chapter 1: The Tightness

There's a brand new Christian science-fiction/thriller anthology out, and I've got a story inside the pages called Safeship. Scroll down to listen as I read from the first chapter of Safeship!

Safeship

After a dangerous heist goes south, Bhirus finds sanctuary with his fellow Upper Thieves in one of their clandestine Safeships. Once aboard, he begins to suspect that the ship's crew may not be what they seem, and he finds himself confined to a Safeship that may be anything but safe.

Into the Unknown: Seven Short Stories of Faith and Bravery

These seven stories take place in a shared universe. Each story is unique and separate from the others, yet there are threads that run through them all. Humanity has spread and colonized regions of the galaxies. As their reach expanded, countries, colonies, and planets joined to form the Federated Nations, providing a centralized government among the stars.

Along with the Science Conglomerate—who explores and researches the unknown regions—and the Judicial Clerical Court—purveyors of truth, history, and justice—humanity discovers new beings, wondrous worlds, old temptations, and strength in horrendous trials.

Launch Day!!! (but not without a few hiccups)

Today is the day you guys!!! The sci-fi/thriller anthology Into the Unknown has officially launched, and you can buy the eBook here for $2.99 on Amazon to read my short story Safeship!

The launch was not without a few hiccups though... in fact it was pretty much a full-blown fiasco. For a reason which has yet to be explained to us, Amazon took the listing for the book down last night, the day before our launch. All of our pre-orders were cancelled, which is a real bummer because according to my publisher, we had enough pre-orders for Into The Unknown to debut at number one in its category. It took a while to get Amazon to put it back up, but they finally did (we still have no explanation as to why they removed it), but the link has changed. I did my best to update all of the links I've posted in the past, but if you come across a broken link, feel free to reach out and let me know.I want to say thank you to everyone who let me know about the issues last night and this morning, and I am so sorry for the inconvenience. It wasn't pretty, but we made it! It's out! It's here! Please go buy your digital copy of Into the Unknown and don't forget to rate and review it! It's definitely a different sort of story than I've ever written before, and I am so excited to share it with you!

I'm including the two story trailers for Safeship down below just in case.Thank you,Pat

Safeship on Spotify

I've put together a one hour playlist with songs that capture the energy, the themes, and the spirit of Safeship! Just like the story, this playlist is relatively short, high energy, a bit gritty, and packs a space-flavored punch!

Safeship comes out on Aug. 17, so if you haven't pre-ordered it yet, what are you waiting for?! It's only $2.99, meaning you can support this author for less than your Starbucks order. Go ahead and click here to place your pre-order.

If you missed them, you can watch the two different versions of the Safeship official story trailers below.

INTO THE UNKNOWN Now Available for PREORDER!

The science-fiction/thriller anthology Into The Unknown from Ambassador International is now available for preorder! This anthology features seven short sci-fi tales, including one by yours truly called Safeship.

The eBook is now available for preorder for 1/2 the price of your morning coffee, and I could really use your support! Beside that, this is my first published work and I am so excited to share it with you all! Click here to preorder your copy now, and it will be auto-delivered to your Kindle on August 17! Don't have a Kindle? No Problem! You can read it right in your browser!

This anthology features science-fiction thrillers from the following authors: Daniel Peyton, Lauren Smyth, Eric Landfried, Allen Steadham, Daphne Self, P.S. Patton, and Jake Tyson.

Below is an exclusive preview of my short story, Safeship:

“We’re glad to be of service. I’m sure you’re exhausted after getting chased through

Reynolds. Big place. Nowhere to hide.”

Again, the overly expectant look. Had they drugged the tea? There was only one way to

find out.

“I am,” Bhirus said, then forced the most convincing yawn he could muster. “I shouldn’t

be so sleepy, but I am. I can hardly keep my eyes open to be honest.”

“Then rest. Once you finish your tea, Lav will show you to the guest berth. We can

settle up later once you’re rested.”

He’d never had to use a safeship before, but it still seemed to him that something was

very wrong with this situation. She hadn’t even asked his destination. This was not good. Where were they taking him? He thought he’d stand a good chance against these two, but there

were likely others on board. For now, he thought it best to go with it until he could figure out

what game they were at.

Bhirus smiled back at Captain Vinia and held up his tea cup as if to offer a toast. Vinia’s

gaze lingered on him until she exited the galley leaving Bhirus alone with Lavender once again.

He held his tea cup to his lips and breathed in the steam into his tight lungs. Lavender’s eyes

were fixed firmly on the cup once again. The captain had managed to act normal enough, but red

flags were flying with this one.

Progress Update: The Withering

https://youtu.be/PTlfh_5MXKIHey everyone! My debut novel The Withering will be coming out soon! The Chosen meme there's that word again... soon. Jesus laughing and smiling played by Jonathan Roumie.

I don't know precisely when it will be, but The Withering looks like it will be ready for release in late 2021 or early 2022!

Just a few days ago, I sent in my latest round of revisions, which I think is going to be the final round of big changes. After this latest round, I'm feeling really, really good about where this story is at. My hope is that after this, the only things really left to do is to run through it to make sure there are no typos, make sure everything is formatted correctly, and then we can get this ball rolling!

Author meme have you revised the revision? Yes, but now we need to revise the revision of the revision.

So what else is happening? Well, I'm so glad you asked! I'm working on artwork including the cover design and a map!

I've also got another story coming out very soon! It is a short story called Safeship that will be published in Ambassador International's upcoming speculative fiction anthology titled Into the Unknown. I think that's supposed to come out in the fall.

There are a lot of exciting things coming up, so make sure you are signed up for my email list to get the latest updates!

Thanks for following along on my journey to publication!

-Pat
