The Reader's Trust

I like to push the reader's trust. Whether it be toying with a familiar trope or testing the reader's memory, I think it's important to tantalize and reward the reader over the course of a story.
My new readers come to me with varying degrees of a innate trust in my storytelling ability. There is an innate "Suspension of Disbelief" within every reader, but this can be broken.

Back in the Saddle Again.

I am never quitting caffeine again.
After a very long trek across the country and back doing conventions including San Diego Comic-Con (aka Comic-Con International) and GenCon and DragonCon, I needed a break. I didn't get it. Not complaining. My family needed me.
And in doing so, I somehow decided that I would save money by cutting out my morning coffee.

Enjoying the Moment
After I won Writers of the Future, I immediately thought "NOW is the time to finish my book! But I need something else to go with it. Okay, I will publish my own anthology. Lots of great authors do that. But that means rewriting the novel (mostly) and definitely rewriting the stories for the anthology, to make sure everything is up my award-winning quality."

FAQ: Will True Dragon have an Audio Book?

Sigh. Audio books.
They are SO expensive to produce. Here are some reasons why.
First the book has to be re-written to be read aloud. That includes clarifying all the dialogue and untying any tongue twisters.Second, the voice talent has to be selected. Because True Dragon contains multiple POVs with many accents and foreign languages, this will require multiple voice talents who are, if not bilingual, at least able to act them out well.
