Started Salvation Plague Book 8 Today!

That's it.

That's the post.

It's going to be a while before it's ready to publish, but I'm thrilled to be back with Jared, Kate, Sten, Storm, and the rest again.

Join my mailing list to be notified when it's ready to read! almasters.mailerpage.io

(And I'm still working on The Hell Zone Series too. I expect Georgie's 2nd book (Hellscape, book 2) to be available next, and then the main book in the Hell Zone Series that follows Inferno. It's convoluted, but I'll be sure to post a handy guide on Instagram and Facebook for whoever needs it).

Happy Reading!

Updates! (and Salvation Plague 8?)

It's been a productive year so far. The Ganymede Signal and UnLiving are both available for sale and The Hell Zone series is gaining some traction -I'm always surprised when that happens.

Both UnLiving and The Ganymede Signal are the first books of two new apocalypse series that I've planned out. Don't let The Ganymede Signal fool you, the first book may be all space thriller, but the next one in the Colony One series will ramp up the horror exponentially.

It looks like this year is going to be a year of firsts because I'm also working on a top-secret collaborative series project that will be potentially epic-length (It's an 8-book outline so far and we aren't even close to being finished!)

Right now, I'm working on The Hell Zone series book 3, Pandora. I am having a blast catching up with Det, Sarah, and the others and seeing what the hell is happening in their world. Trust me, I'm sometimes just as shocked as anyone at what goes on there.

Also, if you follow me on Instagram you might have noticed a little post tucked in there hinting at another Salvation Plague book...

Yep, that's happening.

I knew when I finished Invicta that wasn't the end and so when I had a scene play out in my head at 3 am, I was completely unsurprised.

I want to finish up Hell Zone 3 before I begin serious work on Salvation Plague 8 so that my head is clear and I'm not being pulled in so many different directions. I'm very excited to get back to it though because those characters are some of my all-time favorites.

Keep an eye on my Instagram page for updates, and as always, I'll send out an email alert to my mailing list when a new book is ready to read!

January 2024 Newsletter

Hey there Sci-Fi Fans and Apocalypse Survivors,

Happy 2024! Hope this finds you all in one piece, not zombified or lost in space (yet).

This year, I'm taking a giant leap into the realms of space thrillers, Earthly horrors, and old-fashioned shambling ghouls...among other things.

This genre change (and blend, in some cases) offers me a blank canvas for narratives that are not just compelling, but also deeply thought-provoking. I'm really trying to step outside of my little zombie apocalypse comfort zone and craft stories that require real hard science, real emotions, and stomach-churning suspense.

I want to write stories that challenge us to face the unknown, to delve into themes that are as vast and unexplored as space and time itself.

I know, diving into space horror is a bit of a leap for me- like jumping from a burning building full of zombies into a pool filled with unknown deep-sea creatures and maybe aliens. But I've always been a fan of the 'do it, just try not to look down' approach.

So, I'm going ahead and jump because the very first book that will be published this year (coming soon!) has been a huge labor of love for me and I'm very excited about it. I'll send you an email when it's available, and I hope you'll be kind enough to review it and spread the word if you like it.

Alongside this new space venture, I will remain dedicated to the world of post-apocalyptic fiction, continuing to explore themes of survival, resilience, and the indomitable human spirit...and zombies. Rest assured, there will be zombies. A plethora of zombies. Old-school, Romero-style zombies.

I'm going to make sure to get the final Hell Zone Trilogy book out there for those of you who have been asking about it, but that will be later in the year. I'll also have some exciting news about a collaborative series that I'm doing with a super top-secret...collaborator.

Now, let's talk about something I'm admittedly not great (really terrible) at: marketing.

If you're expecting slick promotions and flashy ads you might be a tad disappointed.

I'm creative, but my brain just doesn't function in marketing terms. I'm not always thinking about how to sell you my next book via crazy strategies and stuff. (Like I said, regular person here. I have a lot of kids, a small farm, some crazy hobbies, and all kinds of other interests and no real desire to become a marketer.)

I'm just your regular author-next-door, trying to figure out the best way to say, "Hey, I've got some cool stories to share, and you might win a book or a gift card if you want to give it a shot." But, what I lack in marketing flair, I hope to make up for with stories that transport you to other worlds, if only for a little while, because that is why I write.

I don't write to make bestseller lists or TV deals. I write because the stories just won't leave me alone until I get them out on paper and I figured that I might as well let others read them too (and if I can make enough money to feed my chickens for a week or so, that's a great bonus because everyone who has chickens knows that they don't exactly pay for themselves).

One of my favorite parts of this journey is connecting with you, the readers. Your emails aren't just messages in my inbox; they're conversations, insights, and often the highlight of my day. So keep them coming! Whether it's feedback, theories, or just a hello, I cherish each interaction and am reminded of why I started writing in the first place– to share stories and connect with people who love them as much as I do. Trust me, anyone who has contacted me knows that I love to correspond and talk about anything and everything. So, don't be shy!

As we move into this year, filled with new stories and adventures (and hopefully no plagues), I want to express my deepest gratitude for your support. It's you, the readers, who make this journey worthwhile. I look forward to sharing these new worlds with you and hearing your thoughts. Your reviews are very much appreciated and your emails, even more so.

And if you've stuck with me through this hideously long newsletter: Thank you for being a part of this journey, for your support, and for reminding me that the best part of storytelling is the people it brings together.

Warmest regards (literally, because it's probably really cold for a majority of you right now),

A.L. Masters

Check your spam folders...

I've gotten several reports from my mailing list subscribers that my emails had been sent to their spam folders without their knowledge -which is strange because they've never been reported as spam.

I'm working on it, but in the meantime check your spam folders occasionally. I'd hate for you to miss out on a chance to win a gift card or book because you didn't get the email in time.

I'll also be posting on Instagram, just in case.

Many good wishes!

A.M.
