VISIT THE BIRTHPLACE OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IN AMERICA
Imagine it is 1565: Five ships sail into a small cove on the coastline of what was known to the Spanish as La Florida. Under the command of General Pedro Menéndez de Aviles, they come to the New World from Spain.
Sent by King Philip II, they arrive in hopes of establishing a colony, securing the land for Spain, and most importantly, to convert the native American Indians to Christianity.
On September 8, 1565, the feast day of the nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Spanish on the ships, sailors, soldiers, tradesmen and priests, came ashore. Father Francisco López de Mendoza Grajales, recorded the day’s events in his diary:
“On Saturday, the eighth, the General landed, with many banners spread, to the sounds of trumpets and the salutes of artillery. As I had gone ashore the evening before, I took a cross and went to meet him, singing the hymn “Te Deum Laudamus.” The General, followed by all who accompanied him, marched up to the cross, knelt and kissed it. A large number of Indians watched these proceedings and imitated all that they saw done.”
Following Menendez’s veneration of the Cross, thus proclaiming this land in the name of God (Nomre de Dios,) Father Lopez celebrated Mass at a rustic altar made of wood. The sky served as the roof for what was the first parish Mass in what is now the United States.
It was on this sacred ground that the Spanish settlers would begin devotion to Our Lady of La Leche (Mary nursing the infant Jesus.) In the early 1600’s the Spanish settlers of St. Augustine established the first Shrine to the Blessed Virgin Mary in the United States.

What did the Fathers of the Church teach from the first century? And, why is Jimmy Swaggart wrong? How is space and time like a bubble and the sacrifice of Jesus an eternal event made present again at each Mass?17:13 – What am I sacrificing while I’m at mass?23:21 – Do we keep Jesus on the cross because he’s sacrificed for the sin of the past, present and future?32:09 – When exactly does the sacrifice occur during the Mass?35:12 – Does the Todah suggest that he had to institute the eucharist in order to fulfill the scripture?42:13 – Three of my protestant friends converted to Catholicism thanks to Steve’s visit to Salem, OR.44:04 – Why is it so important to determine that the mass is a sacrifice? Are we witnessing a miracle at every mass?48:16 – I truly believe that it is a sacrifice. My husband is a deacon and a mystic and has encountered this sacrifice in a real way.51:48 – Is the physical presence of Jesus actually present in the eucharist? The post Steve on Catholic Answers Live: “Is the Mass Really a Sacrifice?” appeared first on Defenders of the Catholic Faith.

Tammy Peterson, wife of popular anti-woke Jordan Peterson, is becoming Catholic
Tammy Peterson, host of the “Tammy Peterson Podcast” and wife of Canadian psychologist and author Jordan Peterson, announced she entered RCIA.
RCIA, or the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, is a process the Church uses to educate and aid adults who hope to be Confirmed.
Peterson was raised in a Protestant family, but when her parents stopped attending Church, she was left without any religious direction.
Peterson suffered health issues in 2015 with a cancer scare and painful arthritis. As her husband, Jordan, gained massive popularity as a media commentator, she struggled with daily tasks, such as walking up and down the stairs.
Her first biopsy showed renal cell carcinoma, while her second biopsy revealed much more devastating news….

Priesthood Reserved for Men – Bravo Pope Francis!
Something we’ve known all along, but those on the other side will never accept NO as an answer, and will keep trying to find another way to beat around the bush.
FRANCIS: ‘HOLY ORDERS IS RESERVED FOR MEN’ Pope Francis reaffirmed the impossibility of women becoming priests, or even modern Church deacons, in an interview for a book released Tuesday in Italy. “Lutherans ordain women, but still few people go to church,” he said. “Their priests can marry, but despite that they can’t grow the number of ministers. The problem is cultural. We should not be naive and think that programmatic changes will bring us the solution.” READ
NO WOMEN’S ORDINATION Two prominent members of the panel at Wednesday afternoon’s synod press conference said that Apostolic Tradition prohibits the possibility of women’s ordination. In response to reporters’ questions, both Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, Prefect for the Dicastery for Bishops, and Archbishop for Military Services Timothy Broglio, President of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), rejected the prospect of female ordination.
