As Good A Man There Never Was
Just a quick update to let you know my fourth book is now available. Having taken only six weeks of concentrated effort, I am incredibly proud of my first contemporary novel. A shorter read than the Fimarr trilogy, how could it not be?, it marks the beginning of my expansion of writing through the genres.
It is a modern parody of A Christmas Carol, but certainly doesn’t require snow on the ground before you dive in to see why Isaiah Moore is due a visit from three notable spirits…

Started!
So, deciding to take a break after concluding the epic Fimarr trilogy, I started writing again on 4 Feb!
As Good A Man There Never Was is not going to hit the scale of the previous three books (not sure anything else I write will!) but it is already shaping up to be a fine parody of Dickens classic ‘A Christmas Carol’.
Flowing really well straight away, three chapters have pretty much written themselves already. Don’t get too excited though, it will be longer than the 5 chapters of Dickens’ original! Still a few weeks/months to wait before release!

Finished!
Finally, the third part of the Fimarr Trilogy is complete. Published on Kindle store yesterday, it means my debut fantasy series is now complete for readers to enjoy in full. In a few days time, I will also add the title to Goodreads (just need the ISBN to be properly established first) Look out for my next book, ‘As Good A Man There Never Was’ coming later this year.

New Year’s Resolution
So, no surprises when I say my New Year’s Resolution is to write more!
I am now three chapters away from completion of the conclusion to the Fimarr Trilogy. After that, I have a multitude of ideas vying for primacy in my brain. What I will promise myself is more dedication as I tackle the new genres and style I elect to write within. This year will also see a renewed campaign of approach to agents/publishing houses now that the initial trilogy is complete and my portfolio of work begins to expand.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year all!

Painful hiatus
Well, who would have guessed that moving to a different country, to do a different job where the actual parameters of that work are not yet fully defined, would cause a break in my writing?
I suppose anybody could have guessed that, really, but I was adamant that the upheaval from May through to now would have no impact on my passion... and was left sorely disappointed!
But that has now changed, I am settled, my family is settled, my work... remains unclear! But I am writing again. The job I would love to do full-time breaking back to the forefront of my priorities as it always will (not withstanding the other one I have to do in order to pay for food and shelter). In the last three weeks I have written four chapters, getting myself exactly halfway through the third part of the Fimarr trilogy. I am overjoyed by this and am determined to keep the positive momentum going; could I actually have this finished before Christmas? Allowing for editing and publishing that would see a New Year availability; sounds pretty tempting to me.
The one saving grace for this forced writing break was the creation opportunity it provided; future ideas have become more developed, new ideas have appeared from nowhere, set pieces and plot devices become more fine-tuned in my mind's eye. The only frustration is the time it will take to produce all of this and the only anxiety whether I can write as fluidly in the other genres that are going to follow this foray into fantasy.
If you have read and enjoyed the Fimarr trilogy by that point, there is no need to fear, I have at least five standalone stories yet to tell in the world of Primedia.
That feels like a real download after months of silence, sorry about that! I will look to update this page more regularly in future!

Children of Serendipity
Well, it has begun, a day later than originally planned, but the Prologue for Children of Serendipity is now written! Book 3 of the Fimarr Trilogy, my third solo work and the next to be produced this year. Can’t really explain how excited I am but my main focus right now is forcing the ideas for several other stories, that are screaming at me to be told, to one side while I focus on this one!
If you have enjoyed the Fimarr saga so far, I will do everything I can to avoid disappointing with the final chapter. Updates as I progress will follow!

Classic or not?
I have read some of the ‘classic’ English authors both when I was in school and by choice as an adult. I begin to wonder what it is that makes us celebrate these works and deem them as timeless masterpieces. Is it simply a question of longevity? Was there really enough competition around in those days to formally declare these people as great writers?
The reason I ask these questions is simple, many of these works are poorly written, lack good pacing, clever plot twists or sometimes a recognisable end. Often they seem to be written about nothing. Shakespeare invented words because he could not find sufficient within the existing dictionary at the time. Dickens fails to resolve many of his stories and they just peter out. These works have been studied and analysed to the nth degree but are we really seeing what the author was ‘trying to teach us’ or just what we choose to interpret? If these books were released now into circulation with no basis to the names of those authors, would they even sell?
All of this uncertainty leaves me wondering what will be considered ‘classic’ literature in 150 years time? (And I hope one of my books makes the grade...)

First post
So here it is, the first post on my Goodreads blog. Nothing special, I’m afraid, just somewhere to start. For those of you joining me for the first time, I have two works currently available through KDP and there are many more to follow if the confused mash of ideas in my head is anything to go by! I will welcome your company along the way.
