Review of Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort at Walt Disney World

Each visit to Walt Disney World brings a different experience, including different resort hotels. This is my review of Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, which I’ve visited both for dining and staying at. Coronado Springs is a mid-level hotel with lots to do on property, and plenty of REALLY GOOD dining options.

Having stayed at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, the Contemporary Resort and more, I can say that Disney’s Coronado Springs is a very different experience that a lot of the other hotels...

So many of the unique places in Oregon are within an hour or two of a major city (Portland, Eugene, Bend…). Sightseeing in Oregon is a breeze in spring and fall, with most people traveling i...

Fun Things to do in Palm Beach County, Florida: an LGBTQ Friendly Vacation Spot

Exploring Florida always turns up new and beautiful places to explore, including places like Palm Beach County. We love making stops here on our road trips to Miami and the Florida Keys, but on its own there are tons of things to do. And despite being known for Mar-a-lago and the evil pumpkin man, Palm Beach is a wonderfully LGBTQ inclusive destination.

Our friend Joey runs the site Pride Journeys and actively seeks out both LGBTQ friendly destinations and gay-owned businesses. He put togethe...

Review of Hawks Cay Resort in the Exact Middle of the Florida Keys

Hawks Cay Resort, located on Duck Key in the nearly exact middle of the Florida Keys, is the sort of place you never have to leave if you don’t want. After several trips through the Florida Keys, we’ve gotten to stay at lots of different hotels and resorts, so we’ve got a pretty broad experience. Hawks Cay is delightful.

You’ll find as you look at hotels in the Florida Keys that there are many options that are a combination of hotel rooms and villas or vacation rentals, and Hawks Cay is one o...

Florida Gulf Coast Road Trip Itinerary: beaches, manatees and pristine waters

Since the first time we visited Florida as a family we’ve wanted to see more and more of the Sunshine State.  Florida offers a variety of family road trip options ranging from beach vacations, island hopping in the Keys, to exploring the one-of-a-kind nature on the Gulf Coast.  We love doing the Florida Gulf Coast road trip, and if you haven’t do it, put it on your bucket list.

Since Florida has both an Atlantic Coast and the Gulf, you’re sure to weigh out the options for doing a vacation to ...

Best Places to Eat In Savannah: Cocktails and Great Food in the Historic Districts

Arguably, one of our favorite things to do in Savannah is going out to eat, and we do it often. Having an apartment at Forsyth Park, which is the hub of all things great in the city, means that we’re always walking through the squares and neighborhoods looking for delicious places to eat in Savannah, and I think we’ve been able to narrow it down to our favorites.

Savannah’s culinary scene is so vibrant, with both upscale dining and Southern barbecue, with dry brunch and also amazing cocktail ...

Best Hiking in Palm Springs: canyon hikes and wildlife not to miss

We love to find places that everybody talks about but nobody knows the cool stuff you can do there.  One such place is Palm Springs, California.  I mean, everybody goes there for a nice weekend or a relaxing vacation, but besides golf, gay bars and swimming pools, what is there?  The ACTUAL Palm Springs!! Agua Caliente Indian Canyons is the reason for the name, and hiking in Palm Springs is awesome!

Have you been to Palm Springs and done the oasis hikes at Indian Canyons or out at the Coachel...

Weather in Yellowstone National Park: Being Prepared for ALL Conditions in SUMMER

You know how when you go to Vegas it’s blazing hot all day and you think you might die, and then you roll out at 4:00 am and you’re frozen?  The same thing happens with the weather in Yellowstone National Park.  The elevation mixed with the crazy weather patterns of the Rocky Mountains makes for a hit and miss battle with the elements.  I remember as a kid being woken up in the middle of the night because our tent was flooding and then a few hours later we were in 4 inches of snow…in July.  Dras...

Review of the Shelborne South Beach, Miami – Trendy and Fun on the Beach

I know what you’re thinking: “YOU took a trip to South Beach?!?” and the answer is yes, absolutely. We enjoyed staying at the Shelborne South Beach, Miami, and yes, it was very different from the hotels and resorts we frequent. We had a great time and it was a totally different getaway than we’re used to. We visit Miami as a start to a Florida Keys road trip or to visit Biscayne National Park, but it’s rare that we actually hang out and enjoy it.

When you’re planning a trip to Miami, you’re e...
