Mark Reps has been a writer and storyteller his whole life. Born in small town southeastern Minnesota, he trained as a mathematician and chiropractor but never lost his love of telling or writing a good story. As an avid desert wilderness hiker Mark spends a great deal of time roaming the desert and other terrains of southeastern Arizona from December to May. A chance meeting with an old time colorful sheriff led him to develop the Zeb Hanks character and the world that surrounds him. Mark returns often to SE Arizona for inspiration, information and to maintain the general feel of the area, learn its history and understand the local residents.

On one of my hikes while I was looking for an ancient Indian ruin my car got stuck. I got out to hike the last three miles when a truck that was better built for the soft dirt and narrow, rutted road came by. The driver happened to be a former Sheriff of Graham County. He was accompanied by his son, the local chiropractor and his grandson. We all began to swap tales and the former sheriff invited my wife and I over for steaks and beer. He began to clue me in on what it was like to be a rural AZ law man. I found it fascinating and after several years of letting the information fester in my mind I decided to write some stories based on the stories the former sheriff had shared with me. It was the tenor of his tale telling that struck me. He was a man who could handle danger, be tough as hell and yet be a calm loving grandfather. He very loosely became the concept for the rough development of Zeb Hanks, my main character.(less)

I am hoping you continue the Zeb Hanks novels, they along with the Longmire books are my favorite reads and I have turned all my friends onto these books. Great stories. Is there any chance you will continue the series? Looking forward to the book in the series.
