Lots

There are many things to do and say. There aren't enough hours in any day, fuck. Sometimes I wish I'd get hit with a bout of insomnia. Jake Adam York, editor of Copper Nickel, asked me to help spread the word about CN's year-end sale. So you should head over to their website and pick up a subscription, or some packaged copies. This is a very nice lit journal, one that's not afraid to take some risks, and is beautifully produced. In recent issues you can read stuff by Blake Butler, Noah Eli Go...

Thank

god, or whatever, for the fact that while when I was a kid I desperately wanted the G.I. Joe Aircraft Carrier toy for Xmas, I never got that shit. It was fucking expensive. My parents were smart.

Review up at The Rumpus

John Madera wrote a generous--I mean, I feel embarrassed by the nice things he says--review of Prose at The Rumpus.

Thanks John. You may get Xmas gifts from me.

Today was the first day that it has really felt like late fall/winter in Atlanta. Cold, sunny this mornign, but gave over to clouds in the afternoon. I had a hard time running. Everyone else was having a good time. fuck them.

Sick Dog

The ever awesome Sean Lovelace interviewed me for his blog. He also interviewed Daniel Bailey about Drunk Sonnets.

These were seriously the best interview questions I've ever been asked. I still don't know if Sean was fucking with me about the Dan question, because it's entirely possible that I did bust out a line in a bowling alley and I don't remember it at all. There are lots of things not to remember when you live the way I used to. His questions about flash fiction and choosing to use or...

Up now

on Deckfight, Josh has posted some of the five best things I had read during a week in October. They're not all actual things I read, but whatever. Now the leaves in Georgia are just a cunthair past their prime, and things are really beautiful outside. It makes jogging fun. I have long since finished The Singing Knives, which is fucking awesome. If Frank Stanford hadn't killed himself, lord. Am likely going to move through book by book so will go on to Ladies from Hell next if I can borrow To...

Kerfuffle

Josh over at Deckfight wrote a generous, lovely review of Prose. I love what he says about the bear: "the narrator is that BEAR, stumbling around trying to navigate an unfamiliar world." He also mentions that he wishes the book were a little longer, and I admit, I struggled with that myself. I had to cut what I felt wasn't the best of all the material that originally made up that book. That said, I feel like if I didn't get bored I could go on writing in a mode similar to that for the rest of...

Fuck Tattoos

I am sitting in a BBQ place in Atlanta and I am reading Daniel Bailey's The Drunk Sonnets, which looks like this
and two bastools away from me this hipster asshole with tight jeans and the classic, like, I-could-possibly-be-an-extra-in-an-Indiana-Jones-movie shirt is consulting with a tweaker about getting his cool new tattoo done and the tweaker tattoo artist guy won't shut the fuck up about everything from Humphrey Bogart being the epitome of the noir writer (????) to area, circumference, a...
