Argo is out!

My Argo trilogy is now in the hands of the publisher. After five years of work, this has grown from one over-sized book to a trilogy of 'standard'-size novels.

I can only hope that Olaf Stapledon, to whom it is dedicated, will take the time in Eternity to read it, and maybe nod his approval.

Mission Control to Argo...

Bones is out and I'm now in the last stages of a final polish of my Argo trilogy.

Volume 1. Genetically modified humans are placed on an exoplanet and left to fend for themselves. They have been acculturated to accept matriarchal paradigms, but these fade over time. The descendants of the first four First Parents prosper, meet each other and learn to live together, not always peacefully. They develop a technologically-advanced society.

But then they discover a remote site that dates back to before their First Parents. It proves that all the ancient legends about the Creators is true! How do they respond?

Volume 2. It's been centuries since they discovered that they were left by the mysterious spacefaring race of Creators. They have been listening with radio telescopes ever since, but the heavens remain silent. There is only one option left. To go out and find them! What they discover overturns everything they had ever believed.

Volume 3. It has been generations since the Argo left to find the Creators. What they discovered shocked them, but more generations have passed since then. Now it's time to take their message back home. But how will the folks back home respond to news that could well tear their entire civilisation apart?

Bones is OUT!

An archaeological dig in Palestine unearths a document. But this is a document with a difference! Could this be one of the ‘eye-witness accounts’ that Luke used when writing his Gospel?

This leads to another dig which finds two skeletons. Could one of these be the bones of Jesus of Nazareth?

Christians of all persuasions, Muslims, Israelis, archaeologists, atheist politicians, all try to bend the evidence to suit their own agendas. Conspiracy theories abound and war is imminent.

What is the truth here? Or is seeking ‘Truth’ the most elusive agenda of them all?

Barney is out! Bones is coming!

At last Pope Barnabas is for sale!

Barney is written as a mainstream dramatic novel (think "Shoes of the Fisherman" by Morris West), but embedded in it is an examination of what good pastoral care should look like, and what the Church should look like if it is to deliver it.

I started writing this in 2015, found an agent to push it in 2017, the agent suffered family trauma and had to drop it, and eventually I had to Indie publish.

It was like being 9 months pregnant for four years!

But it's out now, and I can start thinking about pushing the next one out the door. This is titled "Bones", and is set around an archaeological discovery that MIGHT be Jesus' skeleton. But the evidence is ambiguous. The book is not about the discovery itself, but about how people will interpret whatever evidence their might be so as to reinforce what they already believe. 'Confirmation Bias'. It invites the reader to be more self-critical of his/her own dogma, and be the better for it.
